Anyone ever quit drinking alcohol ?

Im yet again jumping on the low carb wol and am curious if Anyone ever quit drinking alcohol.Im curious to know if there are any tips etc..Im hoping its easy to quit.I do not drink as much as alot of people do but yet i think i drink more then the average person does. The main reason i drink is because i have no life etc.By that i meen my little hick town in Oregon i dont have any friends.I have a couple of online friends but im talking about people who i get to go do things with..Alcohol is just something that is always there.I want to adress this before it becomes a major problem..Seems like the past few months i want to drink "at least" once a week to get wasted..Thanks for any info.

I quit alcohol over 10 years ago. In the beginning, I had to keep myself away from situations that would tempt me. Not much different than quitting carbs. You can do it!!

I have not had a drink in over a decade. Now I don't even want one!! It can happen.

now if that would work with carbs......

I know quitting smoking as well. That was tougher than the quitting alcohol for me.
Take it one day at a time. Sometimes I had to take it one minute at a time. Stay strong, you can do it!!

Hi Chet,

Although food is my primary addiction, I have substituted alcohol on many occasions. For me, the goal it not to medicate with either food or alcohol. I am working on my recovery with the help of a accountability/support partner. This is helping me to understand some of the reasons why I want to eat or drink and let them go – one day at a time. Good luck on your recovery.
