not sure what to do...would like support and gnawing advice!
i am an addict--i know it. i loved OA in Jersey over 7 years ago, but I didn['t get far with the steps. i am hesitatn o join a support group--i feel i need to do it my way, tho i would really like love and support.
i am committed to eating no sugar, and learning if i can use flour or wheat--in limited amounts, and not sure that i can. really trying to learn what i can tolerate. one of the hardest parts is the phsycal cravings i get after i eat too amny carbs. that gnawing destroys me. i keep wondering if it could be something else, or if there is another "treatment" for it besides avoiding carbs. lately i do not eat tomatoes or nary a cooked vegetable for fear of the gnawing, shakiness i get. zero fruit. i find it hard and sad...but the reality is i am closer to gnawing-free if i abstain from those things, and the gnawing is so powerful and destructive i have decided to avoid it at all costs. that is my story in three short paragraphs. if you can help with the gnawing, or support, please le t me know.

You may be addicted to carbs. If you stick with a low carb plan it will help you alot and soon those cravings will decrease.
You are having the same problem I was having when i was so big and needed to lose weight. I found out from listening to a doctor on T.V. talk about cvarb addiction. I first cut out all sweets and starchy foods like rice and potatoes and such. then the weight began falling off me, so i did alot of research on low carb diets and began cooking only low carb. now after four years on low carb i am down over 100 lbs. and have never gained any back either. If you feel you may be addicted to carbs do your own tests on yourself by eating a high carb meal and see how soon afterwards you are feeling hungry, if its less than a hour or two then you may be addicted to carbs, because if you eat low carb you will not get hungry that soon after a meal because it fills you and last longer. This is what I did to find out if I was addicted to them and i got hungry less than a hour after i ate that high carb meal. Also go to the carb addiction site and it may help you more. |

mt--
thanks for your ideas. where is the carb addicts site? do you mean the diet? it is that gnawing that makes me nuts. i have been off sugar over ayear now, but have "maintained" twice and gained some back--by adding moderate carbs, fruit, whole wheat, etc. seems i can't eat that stuff without triggering those physical cravings. boohoo. |
