Hi everyone,

Been away this past weekend at the OA Region 6 Convention at Cape Cod. What a blast. Many good workshops, a talent show, 3 great keynote speakers, a banquet, and a Masquerade Ball.

I brought some food with me to supplement anything I couldn't get there. Had my kitchen scale with me too. Weighed and measured my portions, so food was not on my mind because I know I had enough. What a freedom!

This weekend I lost my diamond/sapphire wedding band. I had given up all hope. After one of the workshops on "Let Go and Let God", I felt compelled to write a letter to God. I thanked him for the time I had with the ring my beloved husband gave me, and asked if it be His will, I would see the ring again. Then I let go of it. I took appropriate actions, i.e. notified the hotel management, notified the Convention Co-Chairs, and enjoyed the rest of the weekend. My sponsor suggested on Sunday morning to pray for the person who found it, that they receive the conviction to return it. After the convention was over, we were having lunch, and a fellow got up on the stage and asked if the woman who lost the ring was here. I raised my hand. He said they had a lead on the ring. A local restaurant had called to say a patron had found a ring and turned it in. Didn't know if it was the same ring. Turns out I had been at that restaurant Friday night. I had accessed the pocket where the money and ring was just twice that night, once to leave a tip for the waitress and one to leave a tip for the piano player. I didn't eat there because I brought my food with me and just had hot water for the tea I brought with me. Just left the tip to say thanks to the waitress for letting me stay there to eat. Anyway, it turns out it was my ring. We rescued it and I was so thankful to God for wanting the same thing I wanted, the return of my ring. I feel my part is to retell this story for those who don't believe in the power of prayer and the grace of God.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone,

Nancy great job on linking me to this weeks thread here and organising the newest buddies Dewdrop & Puttchikins. what would we do without you

Mary mary......what a wonderful story about finding your ring ....and I too believe in let go and Let God.....i just need to remember to act on it more often

Smaller .....i am now replying to something you wrote last week ........first of all on yor weight loss success. i have not been losing any weightthis past month.
I am on the longest stall ever and it is so discouraging...........I think I need to exercise ....my metabolism is obviously slowed down too much...so i can't say how long it takes before ones weight begins to taper off, because everyone is different but I do know when things are going great with me I can lose about 3.5 lbs per week..but I have not seen that in ages.

ok got to go grab some lunch. have a great day everyone

Here I am everyone. I am so very sorry for not being able to be around more but my poor mom has been behaving very strangely with the Alzheimers. Poor thing wanted her legs shaved and didn't want to wait for my sister or I to get there so she snuck a paring knife from the kitchen...and you guessed it...she cut her legs all up. This has been a very tiring and emotionally painful couple of weeks. The did another brain scan just to be sure she didn't have another mini stroke...no...just Alzheimers progressing faster than expected. I have to take her for an upper GI tomorrow because she keeps vomiting all of the time.

I would love to be here with all of you but right now my mom and especially my dad need me there as much as possible. I am at 252 right now but I know the gain is from taking so many pain meds and muscle relaxers. The only thing I have cheated on was I ate 2 Arby's roast beef sandwiches. I should have thrown the bread away...I know...but that was all I had eaten that day and decided to go ahead and indulge.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have tried to go back and read all of the posts but I am sure I missed a few things.

A pm is a Private Message. If you go to last weeks Carb Addicts thread by clicking on this link....
Carb Addicts 10-24 thru 10-30
You can then look for the post from Dewdrop. On the bottom of her post, in the middle you will see these:
profile pm search buddy

Click on the "pm" button and it will take you to write a pm to Dewdrop. You can ask her for her email, so you can correspond that way too.

Hippychikk!
I know a few people who journal their food. It really helps them alot. I hope you find it beneficial! For me, I know I would either forget or not do it....so I am not a good candidate for journaling.
We are here for you and each other!!

Just checking in to let everyone know I am doing fine. I am tired but my sis is down from Mich for a couple of days so I get a break. I gained up to 255 from my meds but am back down to 250. I have learned something though. If I eat my lil treats like Mock Cheesecake earlier in the day...say mid afternoon, I don't go around looking for something to eat all evening and night. It seems to fill that "need to feed" and then I just cruise the rest of the evening away by eating some protein or something. My appetite is decreasing which is wonderful. I do have to start an exercise program again though. I feel much better when I get even a little exercise.

I miss all of you and hope you are all doing well.

Hippychikk-I use Fitday to keep account of my foods. I haven't been able to do this on some days because I am not near a computer but I do keep track as much as I can and it really makes a difference for me. It lets me see exactly where I need to improve in my food intake. You can also track you weight and exercise there as well. Look at the link in my signature for my Fitday Journal. Just go there and look around....if you like it sign up..it's free!!!

Keep on keepin' on everyone and know that I am thinking about you.

Good Morning!!!

Just checking in......12 days of eating on plan for me!!! I am not calling it cheat free anymore, I have decided to change the way I look at it. My better attitude sure does make a difference. I am grateful for 12 days of clean eating! Only through the strength of the Lord, am I able to do this.

Melody~glad you are getting the rest you need. You are learning alot about yourself, that is great!! I know I feel better when I exercise too!! It gives you physical and mental energy, as well as mental clarity. It always leave me feeling like I have just done something wonderful for myself......and I have!!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying on track!!

Hi Peeps

Quick Hello

Things are busier than ususal today at work.

Nancy.................I am really learning to to turn to God more and more ..especially for strenght to stay on plan. In the past i used to think that somthing like this would be too frivolous to ask God for..but I know now that I need him in ALL areas of my life

Hippy...........I keep a journal everyday now. I actually write to another buddy (not part of CAST) and that is my journal.
It really helps me to stay focusssed and keep on track with my eating.......but like Nancy, if I was not writing to someone i would most probably forget to keep a tab on my eating etc

Mels....Like I said on the other thread I am praying for you

everyone else have a good day...............actually before I go....is everyone keeping in contact with their buddies?
I have not heard from Sadler girl in ages ...I even sent her an e-mail but no response....I hope she is OK

Ok now I am going ....later peeps

I did hook up with dewdrop and we emailed thanks

Hippychick, I'm an OLD hippy back from the Woodstock days I'd be glad to message with you too...

Doing the cabbage soup diet for 5 days am on the soup, bananna and skim milk day only I substituted fat free plain yogurt for the milk, made a shake with a bannana, yogurt, and a shot of pineapple and a shot of coconut Divinchis...It was yummy but then again its like part of problem I take a simple thing like yogurt and a bananna and have to expand on it...

A question don't you think the only thing that really makes you lose weight is to eat 3,500 calories less then your body needs????

All I know is that on low carb I can eat a lot more calories than I used to and still lose weigh......the metabolic advantage I think the Atkins book calls it....................and I feel the reverse also applies to me .......i feel no matter how little calories I consume once they come from a high carb source my body converts it to glucose then fat before it can be converted to energy...but that is JMHO
