!!!

Hey people,

Sunday is my official weigh-in -and I met my two lbs a week goal - actually I lost three lbs this week =).

I'm happy, I knew that eventually my weight would not drop like it used to (about 5 to 7lbs a week) but I guess I'm a little bummed out that happened before I past 200....

when did the weight drops start tappering off for you guys? this is my fifth week...

Thanks for getting me on the right page, manalu. I confess I am pretty clueless about technical stuff on BB such as threads, stickies, bumps, etc. I would be happy for someone to teach me tho

Congrats on the loss, smaller! I have never been able to keep up huge weekly losses for more than a couple of weeks myself, and I have a LOT more to lose than you. But I'll be happy with a consistant 3 lb loss a week!

WTG manalu! My husband is diabetic, also, so I know how frustrating it can be to keep those numbers down.

Let's keep up the good work!

Hugs to all!

thanx Manalu

thanks for pontting this place out (agian). I am not used to postting and the boards and all of that . Smaller congrats on the three pounds, I know it was not the amount you wantted , BUT it was one more than you thought. Besides big happy dance you didnot stall or (gasp) gain. That would have been realy sad, so it sounds like you are on plan.
My week was sad, when I had the flu the bad carbs put me back almost tp where I startted. I am not going to let it stop me though. I starred the high carb breakfast in the face and said NO!
I opted for lc chicken salad.

Hello, and thanks for the welcome.
I am here pretty much for the same reason everyone else is. I tend to be an emotional eater (and it's always the carbs I go to). Lately, I seem to be not doing to bad, but I still struggle to stay diciplined and not surrender to cravings.
My biggest struggle at the moment is only being able to go 2 days or so without a single cheat and stay eating clean, and then I seem to cave into something after working so hard not too! I just really want to break that cycle!

Hi everyone,

Went out of town Friday morning and didn't get home til last night. Went to New York City for a GreySheeters' RoundUp. Folks from all over the world flew in for it. Some GreySheeters met up with us in Connecticut on Friday night and we went to the movies. Saw "Shall We Dance?" What a great movie! Then we took the train into NYC on Saturday morning. It was exciting! Went to lots of workshops and met my sponsor for the first time. We talk on the phone every morning, but I had never met her. I just love her spirituality and how she works our program. Then in the evening, we all went to a Chinese restaurant known to New Yorkers as the greysheeter's restaurant because when you get there, you just tell them you want the greysheeter's meal and they ask you, "Chicken, beef or shrimp?", then for the veggie "green beans, broccoli, spinach or eggplant". They were all prepared with no sugar or flour. They bring you this huge salad, which was almost enough for me, then a huge platter of your protein, and a huge platter of your veggie. I had my scale with me and measured out each portion of them and took the leftovers home with me. I had enough chicken and spinach for two more meals at home. A group of us took the train back to Connecticut where we were staying at the Shelton Hilton. And treated like royalty. On Sunday, I drove my companion back home to Vermont and then on home to New Hampshire.

I brought back up food with me for all my meals, even to the restaurant, because I had never been there before and wasn't 100% convinced it could serve me. I didn't have to buy out any meals except for the one Saturday night.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well.

doodles - Hope you got my reply.

Hi

Hi to all,
Just checking in and WELCOME to Lynzee. I believe you will find this a good group and a great source of support. I’m just finishing my first 30 days – in total I’ve lost 11 lbs., however, my weight has stayed the same over the last two weeks. I have not changed my eating and exercising habits with the exception of adding in 1/2c. of green beans. I am in this for the long run and although losing the weight is important to me – the most significant impact to far has been the peace I’m having about food. I’m not white knuckling it and food is not constantly on my mind. Hope everyone has a good week.

loadislight - have you tried changing your exercise routine around? also, make sure your calories are in check. i know that lc woe is all about the carbs, and lots of people lose weight w/out counting calories -but not everyone is the same. i for instance, try to burn more calories than i consume to make sure i stay consistent.

also ... make sure you're not keeping the same exercise routine everyday or even every other day -up the speed or distance or even better -add a new aerobic/strength training activity or do interval training (ex: run five minutes, walk ten, run five, walk ten, etc)

hope it helps.

Smaller,
Thanks for the advice. I probably have been eating too many calories, however, one of the things that attracted me to Atkins in the first place was that you could eat as much as you want – just no more than 20g. of carbs at the beginning. It seems, I don’t do well when I feel deprived. I get belligerent/rebellious when I tell myself ‘you can’t have that’ and the result typically is a binge. A control issue that is not under control. As for exercis, I am walking on my treadmill for 1 mi. then lifting weights for approx. 30 min. I’ll try and vary the routine and see what happens.

ack! what happened? I meant to post a reply not a new topic!! oh well.. here it is..

loadislight - yep. counting calories does suck -but it's not as hard as you think it is. it will probably take an hour or so to just go through what you typically eat in a day, and figuring out how many calories that is -you may even be surprised to find out that maybe you're not consuming ENOUGH calories!! it's actually kind of hard to consume enough calories if you're also staying away from high-fat stuff when you're on a low carb diet. anyway, getting the bulk of your calories from fat is not a good idea.

I think i'm going to reach a stall this week because I'm definitely not consuming enough calories =/. or i'm going to have a gain b/c friday's my bday an office ppl and friends and family are NOT going to let it go.

im going to re-analyze my diet this weekend.

Hi everyone,

Been real busy the last few days and haven't been able to get on the computer. Is this what having a life is like? I hope not because I missed you guys. Had to see the doctor today. He said there are studies now that are connecting obesity with early (age 0-12) childhood trauma (emotional, physical, sexual, etc) and wanted to know what I remembered from my early years. Anyway he wants to refer me to see a trauma analyst to determine it and then a few counseling sessions. I am applying for voc rehab to get help with getting employed again. He is supportive of my efforts, but I am afraid of seeing an unknown person.

Went swimming today and am getting ready for DD's 26th birthday celebration on Sunday. I spent 4 hours in my MIL's kitchen on Wednesday learning to make pierrogi's for DD's bday. I am now a master pierrogi maker after 150 of those little devils and I am not even going to get to taste them. Tomorrow I am making a batch of her Uncle Ricky's chili. Neither of these are low carb, but the gift is in the preparation. She knows the hard work that goes into cooking since she and BF have their own restaurant. And tomorrow am picking up the cake and I won't go into details of what that is but let's just say it is not low carb either. I am cooking a roast chicken, green beans and salad for myself and DH. And yes, I am sending all the other food home with DD or putting it in the freezer.

Have a good day.
