Do Your Friends Carb Out?
Hi All Me Carbless Budds,
The past two weeks I went to a private school for animal therapy training. During those weeks I had to endure watching the other 3 in the class eat candy, chips, crackers as in the really yummy wheat thins, buritos, hambergers with buns... etc... They would offer me their skittles, star bursts, cookies... UGH...!!! I tried so hard to resist but on the second week I broke down and ate some bread at a dinner we all went to. What I ended up doing is breaking my solid stand for two days. That was a Wed. and a Thurs. However, it ended up ok as by Friday my resolve stood up and I am totally back on track. However, I was thrilled classes were over because it is too hard to endure the constant carb torpedos At home my husband and son know better than to eat anything I really love, candy, cookies, ice cream and even crackers around me. If they want something yummy they eat it away from home. It makes my life so much easier. I can handle a night of eating out here and there and we pick places that I can eat at with confidence. But night after night and day after day of a continual temptation fest is NOT FOR ME! The bottem line is we can have great endurance and resists to carbs but if we allow our envirnment to be like the prison camps of carb torture, we will probably not last long and become depressed about our lack of control. So, if you find it hard to stick to this diet, but really want to do it, look at your surroundings and make sure they don't look like a carb infestation. Otherwise you may go totally nutzo! I am sure some friends carb out, but I have stopped looking on their plates. It is so much easier if I keep my eyes on my own plan.
Some family and friends used to try to temp me in the first six months, but once they got it through their heads that I don't make exceptions to eating from my plan, they have now given up. I do plan ahead and on many occasions, I have brought my food with me, just in case there wasn't anything whole and natural on the table. Now it is just a habit. One day at a time.
