Bulimia/Anorexia Support Network- 29 July 2004

As a person who's been battling bulimia and occasional anorexic tendencies for 12 years, i decided to start this woe to help me lose weight and to control my addiction to sugar (my biggest spark for a binge-purge session/s). while this woe has helped me with SOME of the physical demons that spark my eating disorder, the psychological ones continue. i was wondering if there are others like me out there who are battling too and how this woe is helping you/affecting you.

perhaps we can help each other out by providing suggestions for some of the things that are most difficult to deal with, give a comforting word or two, and/or share information. i would love to be in touch w/ other locarbers who know this horrible disorder first-hand and can share without telling me that what i'm doing is 'so unhealthy' and 'stupid'. we individuals with eating disorders are well aware how bad bulimia and anorexia are for us and know it's more than an 'extreme diet' technique, but an illness that haunts us constantly. remember, drug addicts can stay away from drugs and alcoholics can stay away from alcohol, but bulimics/anorexics have no choice but to deal with food daily.

anyone want to share and help each other out?

-Letty

okay... just a quick update...

work is hectic and my patient caseload is getting so big i'm getting more forgetful..and MORE behind on paperwork (my comptuer battery back up died and with the constant power surges, my computer shutsdown and reboots itself about every 4 min!).

i'm cat-sitting for a stray that my friend found abandoned and then adopted out. if you pm me, i'll send you a picture of stinky and her/his background.....AFTER i take another allergy pill!

i fell off the wagon and was eating italian gelato and having daily LARGE cappucinos (made with milk), not to mention pizza. I am 5 lbs heavier and back on the wagon (kinda) but can't seem to eat well. i am busy at work or am too hot to bother cooking and eating something of any sustenance for dinner (sm-med. salad's for lunch). i keep finding myself binging on 'legal' stuff when i'm hungry....macadamias, sf chcocolates, sf gummy bears (usually sweets) when i'm running on low and SHOULD be eating real food. i've not been purging AS much (was easily 5-10 x's/day) but keep thinking about it. i think i'm just too lazy to cook in this heat (btw, i've been sooooo tired for over a month now. i thought it was jet lag from my usa visit but it's been going on too long). anybody have good suggestions for quick, filling, lc meals for this winter? i'm getting tired of salad and eggs. i eat that mostly.

love,
letty

oh yeah....my obscene caller hasn't called back yet. i hope the number shows up on the 'chi e' but i've gotten some that come up as 'unidentified'. i hope i didn't get it for nothing!

hugs to you all, gang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome...

Hi Letty! Thanks so much for your post. It REALLY does help when you have support and people who actually understand you instead of looking at you like you're crazy and disgusting at the same time!

I did bad yesterday. I went to El Pollo Loco and bought 11 pieces of chicken and had some for lunch yesterday with homemade Ranch and cilantro mixed. But I felt so full, cause I ate too much and then I ate some crap (can't even remember what) so I wanted to purge the crap and of course got rid of the chicken. So then around 9 pm last night I got soooo hungry. So I had SF Jello and then a LC tortilla with butter! And that mentality hit me and I felt HORRIABLE for eating so late and night and decided to purge it. But I didn't have enough in my stomach to make it easy so I made toast and ate a whole loaf of bread. But sadly went to bed feeling so strong and powerful. But boy was I tired this morning when I went jogging. I couldn't even do my other exercieses. I just went back to bed.

But so far so good today. I've been out running errands and came home and had tuna & celery. I NEEDED to eat before going grocery shopping so I wouldn't buy a bunch of crap (like my sugary crapy YUMMY YUMMY cereal that I LOVE to purge) and spend more money than I need to.

So I guess it makes it harder to purge when I don't have cereal and cookies hidden in my closet right???

Thanks again! It really helps being able to come check in and get all of this off my chest/sholders. It's nice to have someone to talk to about my deepest demons!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!! )))))))HUGS(((((((((((
