doing to much maybe?

I just start atkins today and I quit smoking today.....
I've quit smoking before when I was at a pack a day habit...
when I started up again a few months ago...I've stayed at a pack a week habit...
I really want to stop but changing my eating habits and smoking habits is sort of making me want to pull my hair out....

It depends on how you look at it. A while back I was reading an online diary of a man who was quitting compulsive eating and quitting smoking. His attitude was "both are elements of a healthy lifestyle." In otherwords, he didn't look at it as tackling 2 individual problems. He just looked at it as moving to a healthy lifestyle. He also instituted an exercise program at the same time. He was highly successful. To me, quitting smoking was a picnic compared to battling compulsive eating. There are times when I have a handle on it and I think, "wow, this is so easy." And then there are times, like now, where I feel like this is bigger than I am. I just have to remember that God is bigger than all of that.

If you decide to do both, know that it CAN be done. We will be here to support you no matter what. I was finally able to quit smoking when I realized that it was no longer working for me as a weight loss tool.

Keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

This is so true. When I finally quit smoking for good and forever (14 years ago) I got it together and lost 30 lbs.

Even though I eventually gained the weight back, I couldn't blame it on quitting smoking because I was overweight when I smoked!

Stick with it and make use of the support on these boards. Good luck!
