Never Take Another Puff

I am new to the low carb life, currently 212lbs, and a new smoke free human being working on being seen as a real person. Not a fat girl who eatc chocolate for a smile, and has a smoke when she wants to cry.

Kimmy Rose - Free and Healing for Ten Days, 22 Hours and 37 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 17 Hours, by avoiding the use of 131 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $22.99.

For me, oddly, after 10 years of smoking on and off, this quit has been "easy" compaired to trying to pull myself away from smokes. I wanted to say hi... Hi

Blessings,
Kimmy

Welcome, Kimmy!

On May 14th, I celebrated 10 years since my last cigarette. I am so grateful to be a nonsmoker - and I want to encourage you to hang in there. It's really worth it!

The first 21 days were the most challenging for me. I needed tools to help me handle the urge to smoke. I called a friend instead of smoking, went outside and walked instead of smoking, drank my favorite diet soda instead of smoking, put money in a jar for a special outing instead of smoking, put on music and danced in the living room instead of smoking, etc.

After 21 days my body seemed to calm down, and the urges got much less powerful.

Please post as much as you like. This forum has some wonderful people.

Blessings!
Cindy

Hi Kimmy! (and Cindy)
I have been smoke-free since 7:00 pm - November 28, 2000. I quit several times also, and this one wasn't as bad. Maybe because we learn something with each quit The last thing I learned was, I cannot have have one or two cigarettes a day (I would always flirt with one or two cigs before getting back into them.) If I could just smoke one or two, I probably wouldn't have quit at all. I have not had a single puff since that date.

Welcome to this forum Kimmy, you will find much support here. Congrats on your quit. One thing that helped me this last time was taking 3 deep breaths each time I got the urge to smoke. It took me a good year before I felt the need to quit telling people that I had quit smoking. Now it rarely crosses my mind. Except when DH lights up and I can't stand the smell. Thankfully, he rarely smokes in the house.

Mary/Amadeus

Thank you! :)

Thank you both for the support. I expected it to be harder, really. It always as before. Right now, my carb addiction is the worst. Having so many problems with this diet. Only had 8 carbs today and it is almost bed time. I am not hungry. I had veggies. All I want is dang sun flower seeds, they would be 5 carbs.

Sniffles.

P.S. I think I will be telling people about my quit for a very long time! It makes me happy and might help others quit or keep them from ever smoking away their life.

I stopped puffing cold turkey back in October 1975 after 10 years of smoking. I was up to 2 packs a day when I found out I was pregnant. I quit for the baby and ate and ate. I don't think of myself as an ex-smoker anymore, but more like a non-smoker. The thought doesn't even cross my mind. Thank you God.
