WOE: One Day At A Time
IDENMW

I was just thinking about the phrase "I don't eat no matter what" and marveling at how powerful a tool it is. When I quit smoking for the final time, we were told to breathe deeply 3 times every time we got the urge to smoke. I don't know why such a simple thing worked. It could be that it is easier to "do" something than to refrain from "doing" something. Does that make sense? This past weekend, in the normal course of family life, several binge triggers surfaced. I just repeated IDENMW until the urge to "punish" the offenders passed. If there is a void, something will fill it. I needed something to "plug" into the wound, as it were. In the past I had nothing else but food to do that. Now I have that phrase and the support of people here and it is making all the difference.

For the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful about my ability to quit eating compusively - just for today.

I use that phrase as well whenever I get a hungry feeling when I know I am not hungry. IDENMW. It's a reminder of what my bottom line is. From there everything else is possible because IDENMW.

Are you asking what it means?

To me it means "I don't eat no matter what."
I don't overeat no matter what.
I don't eat between meals except for water, tea, coffee or diet soda no matter what.
I don't eat off plan no matter what.
I don't eat before making a change(without calling a qualified sponsor) no matter what.
I don't eat no matter what happens in my life.
I don't eat without weighing my food no matter what.
I don't eat without writing my food down on paper and calling it into my sponsor no matter what.

From a positive point of view,
I do eat beautiful, colorful and healthy foods no matter what.
I do enjoy life today no matter what.
I do exercise my mind, body & spirit no matter what.
I do eat GreySheet no matter what.

It could mean something entirely different for you, but that it what it means to me.

Have a good day.
