WOE: One Day At A Time
Saturday

Good morning everyone.
I have now completed one day of abstinence as I am defining it right now until I find a sponsor.

For me it is writing down my food plan for the day, posting it here, and following through.

Breakfast
Mocha latte
orange
egg salad
la tortilla

Lunch
1 cup homemade yocheese with Davinci and splenda
1/2 Natural oven Golden Crunch bagel
1 tbsp carb options peanut spread

Snack(metabolic adjustment
1/2 Atkins Advantage bar (I am using these up)

Supper
Spaghetti al burro made with Dreamfield's spaghetti
3 cups Romaine lettuce
2 Tbsp. Kraft Carbwell Caesar dressing

Bedtime
1 cup Carb countdown chocolate

I don't put it in my menu, but I have a water jug that I sip from all day.

I have fallen off on my exercise and I am feeling the effects. I plan to start again tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Anyway, my plan for the day is written here and JUST FOR TODAY I am going to stick with it.

Mary, I think it's GREAT for you to commit your food here while you are searching for your sponsor. That's a way to get started right away... Good for you!

On May 14th I celebrated 10 years since my last cigarette.

I worked the Steps about cigarettes as well as about food. I believe that's why I was able to quit smoking, after so many failed attempts.

I'm sorry to hear you're still struggling. Perhaps you might think about inviting your Higher Power to help you with this. I know I couldn't do it alone.

checking in on Saturday morning

Today is my 12th day of recommitted HOW abstinence.

I went to a wonderful 7 a.m. HOW-OA meeting. We had about 40 people. The speaker shared her story, and then people shared on the theme of surrender.

I was really glad to be there! I appreciate program very much after being out and in relapse for about 5 months.

Now I'm finishing up my abstinent breakfast.

Later my 10-year-old and I will be going to Kidfest, a family festival, with a friend of mine and her daughter. I won't be eating anything there. I might have a diet soda or a cup of decaf if I'm thirsty, but I'll be eating my meals at home.

To help myself with this, I made a beef roast last night, so I would have food I love for lunch and dinner today.

I'm looking forward to enjoying live music and other entertainment, as well as watching my daughter have fun and sharing the day with my friend.

Thanks for being here.

Thanks, Cindy. I haven't smoked at all since quitting - not even a puff. It isn't the smoking I miss, but whatever it was that it used to do for me.

I am a church musician so I have Mass to play later today. I will be coming home to eat my planned supper. Afterwards I will be going to my BIL to celebrate his birthday. (DH is out of town for the day). They are used to me not joining in the cake and ice cream - I've been off sugar for a long time. No one ever says anything. I just take along a diet Coke and have fun hanging out with the family. 3 of my kids live within a quarter mile of here, and BIL and family are 1/2 mile down the road. I love farm life where families live so close to each other. I grew up in the city.

After the party I will come home and continue with some of the housecleaning and other chores.

Hi everyone,

Called into the 7am 12 step GSA phone meeting this morning, and laid in bed listening to the speaker and sharing. What a great way to start the day.

This afternoon two couples from the Playground met for lunch nearby and I brought my salad and kitchen scale to weigh out my protein & veggie. I don't feel awkward doing this anymore. And now I am getting exactly what I committed to last night, not more, not less, just enough.

I found a little booklet when I was decluttering today that I had bought about 15 years ago on a retreat entitled A Moment to Reflect -- Accepting Ourselves. There was a quote in the booklet Introduction (which was taken from Days of Healing, Days of Joy) that goes like this:

Quote:
To accept something is to receive it willingly--without white knuckles or clenched teeth.
I don't feel any white knuckles or clenched teeth around my food plan this time. It is something I want to do just for today. I think this booklet is published by Hazelden (www.Hazelden.com). They have all kinds of recovery literature there.

IDENMW.
One day at a time.

I have read the Flylady website a year or two ago, but have not really committed to it in any significant way.

I heard about a phone bridge support meeting for people in GSA that also want to work on decluttering, so I may look into that. It all boils down to taking action. Today I was looking for something and started cleaning out some drawers. I found an envelope of an old friend from 1984. Does that tell you something?

Yeah, it tells me we're soul sisters. LOL!

I love Flylady. Her baby-step outlook helped free me from some serious clutter problems.

Sassy, I hear you on the not feeling loved. The odd thing is that I KNOW that I am loved, I just don't always feel it. I went to the OA site. Here's a link to it. http://recovery.hiwaay.net/jtr/12steps.html
You can attend online meetings there also. They have a list of people who are willing to sponser.

MaryMary will be on later and maybe she can give you some help, also.

MaryM

Oh, and welcome, I'm really glad you found us and that you're here.

WOE: One Day At A Time
Sunday - May 30

Good morning everyone.
I have now completed two days of abstinence as I am defining it right now until I find a sponsor.

For me it is writing down my food plan for the day, posting it here, and following through.

Breakfast
Mocha latte
orange
Applesauce/almond muffin

Dinner
3 cups Romaine lettuce
2 Tbsp. Kraft Carbwell Caesar dressing
4 oz. marinated chicken tenders
1 cup homemade yocheese with 1/2 cup sliced strawberries

[b]Supper[b] (more of a snack really because we eat dinner late on Sundays. We also go out for ice cream on Sunday nights, but I always get a diet coke)
Atkins Advantage chocolate peanut butter bar

Bedtime
2 cups Carb countdown chocolate

This is my plan for the day. I am grateful that I have completed 2 days without overeating or bingeing. Isn't it funny how much better food tastes when we eat less of it?
I may need to adjust the amount of food I am eating because I am getting really hungry between meals. Right now I am at roughly 1400-1600 calories. My fat is about 50% so I may play with the percentages on that. I haven't been exercising so I know I will have to make an adjustment when I begin again.

Just a quick check in this morning. In our church we are celebrating Pentecost and this year I asked the choir to sing.
I'm excited because I ordered a new mike for them and it just came in. They don't know yet that we have it. They have worked so hard this season - I want everyone to hear them.

Just for today - with God's help - I will stick to the plan I have written. If it's not posted - IDENMW

See you all later,
MaryM

Recovery Highway is a *wonderful* website. It offers lots of online support, including email sponsors. I am participating in their Big Book study loop, and I enjoy it - but it's not the official OA website.

That would be at www.oa.org

There's lots of info there, including a meeting finder.

Thanks, Cindy. I'm going to check that site out too.
Our Mass this morning went wonderfully. I wish people would sing like that every Sunday!

I cleaned off my front porch today, swept the floor and put the snow shovels in the garage. Then I cleaned out the cooler. Tomorrow we are going to DD's restaurant and fill it up.

Have a great day.

checking in on Sunday night

Hi, I'm Cindy, a compulsive overeater.

Tonight I'm completing my 13th day of recommitted HOW abstinence. I'm grateful to be abstinent and in program.

I took my 10-year-old and her friend to the movies today. I noticed lots of people eating unhealthy food around me. I was happy with my diet soda, and just enjoyed the movie.

I've lost some weight, my body seems to be ready to let it go. What a relief! For the last couple of months, I was trying to do this on my own, and had no weight loss at all... I don't do well, making my own decisions about food. I can talk myself into just about anything!

It feels so good to be back on track!

Thanks for being here.

Blessings for a happy and abstinent holiday tomorrow.
