Hi peachy,
I would love to be part of a daily thread. I just picked up the lifeplan book today and plan on reading it tonight while I do respite care for a friend. I have read through some of the threads and kind of did a loose protein power day today.
Tomorrow I guess will be my first official day. I noticed you answered my post in the protein power forum and said that I should have 27 grams of protein at each meal. Is it okay to have more I know I have gone over that amount today.
Thanks Jeanie

Jeanie -- I'm glad that we have found each other. Yes, you can definitely have more protein. I am supposed to have about 70 grams a day, but on fitday I end up at more like 110. It's so funny to eat so much protein. When I was gaining weight I would go days without any. All carbs all day. That is just a recipe for disaster.

Hi Peachy,
Yesterday was sorta my first day on pp totals were carbs 24 protein 82. I want to try to increase the carbs today. I am down 1.5 lbs since yesterday!
Today is officially day 1. I started reading the book last night and I still have a few questions about snacks and spacing out the carbs and protein. Jeanie

Hi Jeanie, Congrats on the loss!

I lost a .5 lb. this morning -- making my loss total 8 pounds in 10 days.

How is it going? Did you figure out the snacks yet? I will usually have a protein snack -- usually cheese, which has a little carb in it. But I would rather end my meals with a piece of fruit so I don't use up my carbs as snacks. Half an orange or grapefruit calms my sweet tooth and makes me so much more satisfied. I use the 5/10/15 chart from the original PP to make my fruit choices. I also love wine-- so I use my afternoon snack carbs for wine and cheese. It may slow down my weight loss -- but this has to be a lifelong way of eating and I know that I won't stick to it without my glass of wine after work.

Wow 8 pounds in 10 days that is incredible I really admire your attitude about it being a lifetime change. You are so right. With an attitude like that you will succeed!!
I have been too tired today to read I woke up during the night and couldn't get back to sleep for a few hours. I took a half hour nap so I am going to read more of the book tonight. I am guessing the snacks should be low or no carb?
And for the first phase of pp its 30 grams of carbs divided over the 3 meals?
Thanks Jeanie

Care for another member? I'm still struggling to stay on plan with Atkins and have been loosely doing PP. Need to get focused and lose the rest of this weight!

Looks like you have done a great job on Atkins. I started with atkins in June lost about 15 and then gained/lost the same few pounds over and over again. I keep binging every couple of days lately as well. So in desperation I decided to go with PPLP. I look forward to having more carbs each day without feeling like I am going off plan. Today is only day 2 for me so far so good. I've lost 1.5 so far. I am happy with that it compares pretty well with atkins inductions losses for me for the same amount of time.
Please post often we can do this with each others encouragement!
Jeanie

Happy Monday girls!
Deb! Hi Jeanie!

I thought I'd share a little of my low-carb journey. I lost a lot of weight on Atkins and Kimkins (I know, I know) but I was absolutely starving myself and crashed my metabolism. I have lost before on Protein Power -- once after a pregnancy and once after a hospitalization (the hospital food sent me in a spiral I could not control.) I have always felt strong and in control on Protein Power. I guess I focus on getting enough protein instead of finding ways to eat fake low carb food. That stuff always did me in. And the Malitol!

Anyway today has been a great day for me. I lost another .5 pound and my Victoria Secret underwear did not roll beneath my belly today! Yippeee!

Hi Peachy and Deb,
Down .5 today for a total of 2 pounds in 3 days. I like this being able to add carbs in without guilt. I am actually falling short of what I am allowed to eat for the carb amounts!
Doing well on the protein grams. Also got a walk in on Saturday and a full body weight workout last night. Jeanie

Hello Girls!

Just stopping by to say hello! Been trying to get back on plan, slowly but, surely.

Have finally lost all my holiday weight and been maintaining at 154.5 the last few days. Still tweaking my foods and need to get to the grocery store. I've been reading the PP book still find myself debating whether to go to 30 or move up to 55 carbs per day. Would really like to drop a few pounds quickly, so probably stay with 30. I do think I'll have to be more deligent about weighing and measuring my food portions. With Atkins, I didn't bother (maybe I should have).

Questions for anyone who would care to answer.... What do you have for breakfast? I've been having a ready to drink Atkins shake since I started and still love them. About 160 calories, 4 carbs / 2 net, 15 grams protein,4 gr fiber. They seem to keep my appetite under control for a few hours. I haven't been snacking between BF and lunch, but might need to since I'm changing plans and find that since I've upped my carbs this week, I am more hungry. So, BF suggestions welcomed (just can't cook this early in the a.m. and even think about actual "food" until I've been up at least 3 hours).

Second question is: Do any of you take supplements and if so, which ones? I'm taking CLA and when I remember borage oil and a multi-vitamin. Calcium and potassium before bed.

Well, gotta go for now.... BTW... Congrats to everyone for staying on plan and I hope to "see less of you" real soon! Have a great day everyone!

Hey girls! It's Wednesday. I shouldn't have weighed in today because I gained 1.5 pounds. I have no idea what I did. Hopefully it is water and muscle. Today is going to be a great day anyway!

As for breakfast, I usually have a protein shake made with protein powder and SoySlender. I can't do the Atkins shakes because it's just not enough protein for me. I try to be above the 20grams my body needs.

Remember to eat your carbs with protein so that you don't get a bump in your blood sugar.

Have a great and powerful day.

Peachy, the weight will come back off! Sometimes just sodium or preparing for TOM.

Jean, how you doing today? Hope you had another loss! Like you, glad to have more carbs in my WOE, really missed them!

Had a good day yesterday, stayed on plan and appetite is decreasing, which is good cause I'm always hungry! Think I was born that way! Now, I just need to start working out.

Had a mini whoosh yesterday... down from 154.5 to 152.5. Finally hit my 50 pound mark! Now, to get out of the 150's!

Have a great day everyone! Will try to post again later!

Hi girls -- how are things going?

My weight is still up a little, but I still feel like I'm losing. Isn't that funny. I guess with working out sometimes you lose inches before you lose weight. I really don't care what I weigh if I can fit into a size 8 again.

Worked out and ate right today. I'm going to try to fit pilates back into my schedule. I just can't seem to get out of bed in the morning -- let alone exercise. Hopefully I will spring up out of bed tomorrow. Ha.

Hope you all are doing okay. Wishing you a successful tomorrow.

Hi Peachy and Deb,
I have noticed the weight drops fast at first and then I always seem to gain back a couple of pounds . I need to stay off the scale this gain always throws me in a tailspin. I tell myself not to let the gain bother me but I always start thinking the plan is not working which causes me to get that oh well attitude. I am trying to keep in mind this time that I need to keep doing the right things and only adjust if I meet up with a true stall.
Keep up the good work.

Good Morning Deb and Jeanie -- I am a happy camper today! Jeanie, you were right -- over the past few days those extra pounds have gone and they took another pound with them. Yeah!

Have a great Sunday!

Hello,
I have been trying to find the protein power book at my local used book store. Haven't had any luck yet. Could you give me a daily menu of what your eating? I have been doing a 1200 calorie diet and I have lost 10 pounds in a month and 12 inches, my buddy isn't going to be able to keep doing this plan with me and I am looking to see whatelse is out there.
Thanks,
Kim

I've been lcing since 1/1/08. Gained 2 lbs. I think I still might be eating too much. Is it possible to eat too much? I eat beyond my 34 g. protein per meal and I stay at my carb level. So I'm thinking too much food.

Hey all! I'm having another good week. I went to get measured and lost inches and inches.

Saphire -- My usual menu is pretty boring.
Breakfast: Protein Shake
Snack: String Cheese
Lunch: salad with 3 boiled eggs & dressing
or leftovers from dinner
1/2 a piece of fruit
Dinner: 5 oz. meat (beef, pork, chicken)
as many veges as I can
wine

I would probably lose much faster without the wine and cheese, but I am making this a lifestyle change and I am not going to go my whole life without them. I shoot for over 70 for protein and under 40 for carbs. Hope this helps.

Dedee -- It's possible that your calories may still be a little high. Check your intake on fitday. It's free and I use it all the time. If you give me a sample menu I would know more about what could be happening to you.

My fat intake is about 70-80 grams a day. Probably more on some days. I generally don't worry about it.

Hi! I really enjoy Dr. Eades blog, and have PPLP (among other books he recommends).

My book is packed away at the moment, but I had been using the 34g amount. I'm in the low 160s now, so I may need to reevaluate. I have a hard time getting that much in at breakfast. I usually eat sausage and eggs.

I have been doing 4 egg omelette and 2 sausage patties. They are 6g protein each (egg and sausage). That's a lot of food!

Lunch is usually leftovers or tuna or brislings. Dinner is *no problem* on protein. Last night we had broiled rib eyes & mashed cauliflower.
