Hey cake eaters... LOL

OK so I got an email from the producer and then a phone call. The story will be on GMA tomorrow morning.. .and he promises this time! So glad to see so many of you were looking for me though

What... no other strawberry cakes out there??? I like my description

"Fresh, sassy, and romantic.

Occasionally you're a bit moody - but you usually stay sweet!"

I want a re-test! I sound boring as a chocolate cake Does it matter if I am the one who usually take a little swipe at the icing with my finger?? And I have actually been known to put vanilla icing on toast I love it so much. And I usually eat two pieces of cake! And when I eat cake I make all these moaning sounds like......ok.enough!

That's easy enough, right?

I'm so sick of being sick.

What can I eat, that's low carb, that is mild enough to not set my system off? Any suggestions? I'm desperate here.

And also, in a weird way, I'm craving sugar. Like I really want to eat frosting out of a can (and this was before Christin's cake post!). Why am I having these cravings? is it just because my body doesn't get to hold on to ANY food I eat long enough to get anything out of it, so I'm starving? Any thoughts?

And I agree with Anna - this group rocks! And I also wish I were a red velvet cake - I want to be decadent and sensual. Although I'm in VERY good company with my fellow chocolate cakers!

If you are having trouble holding things down I would stick to broths and very little meat that is probably all you can handle now anyways. chicken broth is the best when you are sick. - hope you get over it real soon -

Hippie... if you can stomach it, this is healthy and good when sick

Eggdrop Soup

1 quart chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon guar or xanthan (optional)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 scallion, sliced
2 eggs, beaten

If you're using the guar or xanthan, first put a cup or so of the broth in your blender, turn it on low, and add the guar. Let it blend for a second, then put it in a large saucepan with the rest of the broth. Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, and scallions. Heat over medium high burner, and let it simmer for five minutes or so, to let the flavors blend. Have your eggs beaten in a glass measuring cup or small pitcher - something with a pouring lip. Take a fork, and start stirring the surface of the soup in a slow circle. Pour in about a quarter of the eggs, and stir as they cook and turn into shreds, which will happen almost instantaneously. Repeat three more times, using up all the egg, then serve. 3 biggish servings, or 4-5 small ones; easy to double! Assuming 4 servings, each will have 2 grams of carbohydrate, a trace of fiber, and 8 grams of protein.

Yep! Love it. The ginger and vin are good for digestion and nausea too. ETA... if you add mushrooms, tofu (opt) and garlic chili paste it becomes a decent Hot and Sour soup.

How ya doing, Melly?

If you all watch PBS at all, look for Low Carb Cookworx. The hosts are not too entertaining, but they have some good recipes. Google the title and there is a homepage with recipes too

Thanks, Kayt and Tanner! That sounds really good. I have everything except the xanthan gum (?) and the ginger. I do have dry ginger, but no fresh. I might make some anyway, and at least I'll have the flavor of ginger. Would it still have the health benefit I wonder?

Y'all have a good night and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

UM.....where was this recipe when I was sick???????

Kim - this thing is nasty and it doesn't let go....when you start to feel better keep a low profile because I guarantee you'll be exhausted after a few minutes and down for the count the next......i managed to eat only the broth and some tea and (please remember I was off LC) i did eat english muffins or toast with butter......only thing that would actually settle my stomach. I did lose some weight but of course when i started eating food it came back.......so just take it easy and eat light........if you can find it i got some crystalized ginger that helped with the stomachache and diarrhea. You can get them at a health food store. feel better!!!!!!!

Ya know - if you all lived around me I'd be knocking at your door with some homemade chicken soup. - that is what I do here when I see that one is getting sick.. I dont have a written down recipe but it is damn good. - Ginger is excellent in soup and garlic! I have several containers of chicken and turkey broth already cooked ready to whip up a nice soup.. Lucki you gave some excellent advice.

Kim I hpe you feel better - Maybe the Pirate is catering to you now? yes?
Well he should.. When I get sick sometimes I do french onion soup or Won ton soup ( nix the solids ) Quick easy and cheap and they deliver

Thanks for all the care and well-wishes you guys!

I'm a little emotional lately, can you tell?

I ate this afternoon, and so far no problems. I think I might be at the end of it (it's been since Monday! ) God, I hope so!

So, if you're lucky, I'll be back to my usual serial posting and other shenanigans next week

Hi There is just too many pages I've missed to go back and try to catch up now! How is everyone????

Weekend~ I went out with several of the girls for drinks on Friday... from 2:45 until about 12:15 am... I spent a lot of time reading in bed, missed the Nevada presidential caucus, and had an overall relaxing Saturday. So, I figured I ought to get some work done around the house today, exercise, and maybe catch up with friends, emails, and posts. Tomorrow, I am off work, and may go shopping for new couches. Maybe a gf will join me.

Hi everyone...

I know I haven't been involved in the challenge this time but I am needing some help here. I pushed my doctor appointment back because I REALLY need to lose some weight before I see him... I am still at my lowest weight and haven't gained but I am at a stand still. Probably because I haven't been eating much. I was also talking to kycowgirl (Trisha) about how disconnected I feel from you guys. I feel kind of out here all by myself and I know its my fault because I haven't been "here" and visible much. But I miss my friends. Trisha was wanting some support too... So can we join you all midstream here?
