I made one for my DS last night (although he is 30, not a teen or younger!). He is not much of a veggie eater and I promised I would make it taste good. I used cocoa powder and coconut DaVinci's along with about 2 c. of spinach.

I don't need it to make a full day's amount of veggies - just a few more at a time. He drank it with no problems. Now I have to see if he'll drink one again tonight. We have it with our salad for dinner since we eat dinner late.

Don't give that garden duck any ammunition Laure she's a trouble maker. She lurks in the garden ripping on the shake drinking a diet coke.

Fawn, did you ever get your Jack Lalanne blender? Review, please--do you love it? I keep lusting after it as the one I have is total crapola.

I found this recipe in the Fawn's shake thread...I only added some stevia. I wish I could remember who posted it. I think this shake will be a big help to me...

Here's the recipe I used... here's the one I used this morning...it tasted fine...no problem to drink the whole thing.

1/4 c aloe vera juice
1 c. raw spinach
1c. coleslaw mix (cabbage, carrots)
1 c. mustard greens
1 c. romaine
1/4 cup blueberries
2 strawberries
1 carb control yogurt
splash of cream
1 pack of stevia

just put it all in the blender and let-er-rip! Next time I will put the ice cubes in first. I have an older vitamix that really mixes up stuff good...but plenty of people said a regular blender does fine.

I thought you might get a kick out of some pics...remember, it is Monday morning...and I am as sleepy as I look in the photos! LOL!

Becky,

That shake is looking good!

I read an article from Bottom Line this morning about veggies that I thought may interest all of you.
************************************************** ********

Eat well and take supplements. Research shows that people eating plenty of vegetables each day (around three or four servings or more) seem to have a slower rate of cognitive decline. Interestingly studies suggest that fruits are not as protective as vegetables in this regard -- Dr. Khalsa speculates that since vegetables are so loaded with natural anti-inflammatories, they reduce inflammation, which is known to figure in cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's. Basic supplements, including a multivitamin, and B vitamins (including folic acid), vitamin C and vitamin E, are also helpful.
************************************************** ********

Interestingly, I am being treated for inflammation by my doctor, and he will be very happy to know that the green shake is part of my daily fare.

Hey Becky,

I didn't see ICE CUBES in the recipe.
How many?

Hi MountainGirl! I think I put about 6 ice cubes...that white you see on top in the blender is the ice. Next time I will put them in first so they will chop easier.

THanks for posting this sazzie! It's all the more reason to get our veggies in! I hope I can make this a daily habit and not get tired of them. I want to learn different ways to make the shake so I will not get burnt out...
