Deb I d buy the full-fat Fage and it's incredible tasting!! Very high fat, but half the carbs of regular plain yogurt. I add blueberries mostly and Vanilla flavored (flavored with Splenda) Whey Isolate powder (GNC Mega Whey stuff). The protein powder adds the sweetness. Today I just had the yogurt with Whey Protein. It's so creamy!!

Wifez - does draining the yogurt also reduce the carb count?? That's what I like about the Fage - 1/2 the carbs.

Workout was tough today but I made it. I think I'm gonna have bacon and eggs for dinner tonight. Since I'm not eating breakfast that makes a good dinner!!

I think so. You are draining off the carby whey and just leaving the nummy creamy yogurt.

This is one of those rare (and brief!) moments when I'm all caught up on Fascination and peek out into the real world. My copy of Taubes's book arrived this week, but between the Russian brides and all that other stuff, I haven't managed to read much of it yet . I'm pretty busy this weekend, but maybe next week I'll get some time.

I just hate that Kimmer is still getting so much attention!!! I'm grateful for all the people who kept at it though and have exposed her. It's a Catch-22, because I'm sure she thrives on all the publicity, even the negative stuff. But she needs to stop. She has hurt a lot of people. I was only on the diet a week or so, cause I couldn't stay that low fat, but I still had some BAD consequences from being low calorie (900 a day) for 3 months.

Anyway, I'll be glad when everyone can move on!!

Last week I lost 2 pounds overall. Good start. This was really my first true week. My average calories were a little under 1600, so I'm pleased that I showed a loss, since I didn't think I could eat that much and still lose. My clothes are starting to feel looser too.

I love Protein Power!!

Great job Dharma!

I have been in a holding pattern for a month now. Though my weight hasn't budged, I have still lost inches. Maybe when TOM finally leaves I will see some movement on that scale.

Dharma, are you still doing IF? We have a IF thread going under "other plans" if you want to join. I was reading your posts and I agree that getting adequate protein is tricky. I pretty much eat two meals in my 5 hour window and have a protein shake. I've read that the body can process about 30 grams of protein in an hour (when I say process I mean use for tissue building/repair), so I shoot for 30g per meal plus my protein shake (which I make with raw milk so I get a little more protein in) after a workout which I do my best to have an hour before my final meal. Anyway HTH!

Oh, and I had to unsubscribe from the fascination thread...I wasn't getting anything done! Since they got the red dress pic everything seems kinda anticlimactic now anyway.

From M. Eades blog:

I may be wrong, but are people also miscalculating the fact that you only have to worry about food calories that are absorbed? If someone ate all their calories in 1 meal- and the breakdown was something like 25% protein, 70% fat , and 5% carbs for around a 2500 calorie meal, I’d very highly doubt that the close to 200 grams of fat gets 100% absorbed by the body. If it did, i’d be highly amazed that our bile duct system is that capable (to help breakdown all the fats). Could LCing cause an overload in our fat absorption system- and if it does- is this healthy for the long term - or at least healthy enough on the basis of an absence of disease causing carbs? Once again, interesting post!

Hi Aaron–

The GI tract is pretty good at absorbing all the food that travels along it unless there is some kind of malabsorption syndrome going on. The normal GI tract is able to handle the extra fat from a low-carb diet without much of a strain.

Cheers–

MRE
Hey Kar Kar. I'll check out the IF thread, although I'm not doing a "standard" version of it.

I'm really not worried about how many grams of anything my body can absorb at one time. I even had my gallbladder removed, and I can still eat a LOT of fat at one time and not have any symptoms of not digesting it. With the exception of cream......for some reason I have to watch it, but that may be because I'm lactose intolerant.

I prefer two meals a day, and if I get hungry I have a small snack. I'm getting all my protein and fat in easily this way, and feeling satisfied with my food. And, losing weight slowly. So far so good, anyway!!

Yeah, the red dress photo was also from a Russian Bride site. They still haven't found the one of her in the shirt with the zebras on it, but it is only a matter of time

I have no idea where it is anymore, I think it's somewhere around page 40 of #6. But here's a quick place to see it: Kimkins Exposed
