Lazy girl seeks exersize buddies!

Hey everyone! I've been doing atkins for a little over 2 weeks. I am pretty proud of myself on eating, but I need some help with exersize! I found a lot of help over in the induction boards with eating so I thought I would give this a try.

I can't afford a gym membership, but I do have a park nearby with a walking trail. Also, I have netflix so I order dvd's off there. Also use their instant viewer, which is pretty nifty if you have broadband. Have several workout videos I can play right on the comp. without waiting for an order.

I mostly just need some help with motivation. I want to post my goals, and maybe get feedback, also would love to help motivate other lazies like myself!

I need someone to motivate me too. It might help me to get on my treadmill if I have to report to someone everyday. I've even contemplated going back to my gym but haven't made it yet. I know that I would do so much better if I exercised. I have been on Atkins for about 15 days. I was down about 10lbs but I keep gaining and losing 2 lbs right now. But at least I am down. I am at a standstill right now.

Anyhoo, if you would like a motivational buddy, I'm here for ya.

Awesome! We've been on for about the same time. My loss has slowed a bit... I'm trying to exersize 4-5 times this week... what are your goals?

You are both welcome to join us at the Anybody Want a Treadmill Buddy thread! We do all kinds of exercise so you don't need a treadmill to be part of the group! We just post what we do and encourage each other!

hey lisa! You're I WISH I had a treadmill.. But we don't have the space/money for that!

Thursday I did a Yoga Booty Ballet tape, and about 20 mins of regular yoga... That brings me up to 4 times this week! Woot. Really hoping to get in 5 times but I feel super lazy today.......May work in some pilates after the baby goes to bed.

btw this is yoga booty ballet:
Netflix Online Movie Rentals - Rent DVDs, Classic Films to DVD New Releases

I think its pretty good I'm not very fit though...lol. It would probably not be enough for many people that exersize alot.

@ the strip tease. I had thought of renting that but it didnt seem like too much of a workout to me either.

If you have the watch it now thing, the yoga I have been doing is called Crunch Candlelight Yoga. It's very relaxing.

BTW I made my goal of exersizing 5 times this week! I got up early and did 30 mins of pilates!

I'm so sorry I forgot to check back here. I am sad to say that I have not motivated myself to get back to the treadmill. To be honest I am losing motivation period right now. I'm going through some personal stuff and am finding it hard to do what needs to be done. I will set a goal to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes on Monday. I think I might need to take it one day at a time. But I will come here to post. We'll have to check out the treadmill thread too. Thanks.

That sounds like a great goal! Even if you only do 20 mins or so.. as long as you're up and moving. I think I really do feel better when I exersize..not so sluggish and lazy.. Hopefully you're the same.

As for me today I did a 20 min walk, so not the full 30 mins I was hoping for, but I was a little pressed for time. Hopefully I can do better tomorrow.

Lisa good luck with the treadmill tomorrow!

Well hello there!!!I was just trying to get myself motivated. I have a treadmill and it sits about 2 feet away from my bed so I see it every morning every afternoon and every night. Before I started atkins I used it all the time and then stopped. I really need to get moving. I have been stalled for a month now hanging at the same weight. I need to exercise and get back to being strict on the plan.

I want to lose 20 pounds by November 2nd. Me and my hubby are going away for the weekend on a much deserved 3rd honeymoon. Long story!!!
I need help!!!!!! I am so NOT motivated. I can think of every excuse not to do it. WHY??? I have lost all this weight without exercising and was quite happy not having to put any effort into it. But I guess I have to. So, I too need lots of encouragement and ideas. I have the treadmill so the walking thing isnt a problem but what else can I do? I dont have a weight bench or anything like that but I do need strength training. Any good videos?

Thanks to any suggestions!!!

Hey!

I suggest you drag it out in front of the televison! That way when you go to watch something you can just hop on? Or else just force yourself 'just for 5 minutes' and then hopefully once you get going you'll complete your whole (30? 40? insert goal time here) minutes...

(true)Cliche: the hardest part is getting started..

I did 30 mins of pilates today. Hope to do some yoga after baby-bed-time!

ALSO! we have acquired a used exersize bike..somebody left it by the dumptser at our apartment.. It still works! Even has a spedometer, odometer timer and adjustable difficulty! Its just a little wobbly and all the fancy rubber grippy things have worn off.

I did like 5 minutes. Biking is WAY harder than I remember from when I was like 12.

Jamie-I too am having a problem with motivation (goes along with my bad depression). Check out my post on the main board about lack of motivation...going through depression. There is so much good info there. I agree with LowCarbSleepyToast about putting the TV in front of the treadmill. I couldn't do it without my tv. Try to set a daily goal to get on the treadmill for 5 or 10 minutes. Give yourself permission to stop if feel like it after that. Chances are you will continue (it worked for me). Like it was said...it is hardest to get started. Just do it. That is what I am going to try to tell myself. Let's keep posting for motivation. I need to get it from anywhere I can. I can help with tough love! And you can give it back if I need.

Now here is the goal for us tomorrow...get moving with some sort of exercise for 5-10 minutes. That is my little goal because I know that once I get on the treadmill I will do 30 minutes. You folks in?

Good Morning! I didnt walk on the treadmill BUT im happy to say I got my butt moving yesterday-took my DD in stroller and walked around the neighborhood and down to the store. Not sure how far but it was but it was a nice walk. Our weather has been just beautiful here-I decided to get out and enjoy it while I can.

Jamie~ Glad youre gonna join us - I too have experienced the P.I.S.S. and need to move to lose. I am gonna check out netflix today and see what they have for DVD workouts.

Cheri~ Youre doing so great; keep posting I really need the motivation-and pilates is HARD

Determined~ Just 5 minutes will make all the difference-c'mon you can do it

Sorry I should have clarified that doesnt look right does it-Post-Induction Stall Syndrome! Everytime I try Atkins I lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks and then my body takes a rest and I dont see a change on the scale for several weeks again. As I told Cheri, I lost better last time I tried cuz I was walking everyday on the treadmill.

LOL!!!

I put my pedometer on today to start making me "aware" of my steps taken or not taken. I am planning on the treadmill this evening. I am going to go for 15 minutes while I watch TV. It is in my room facing a huge picture window that looks out into our backyard and off to the right is my TV. I even have those walk away the pounds dvd's but have never used them. Still in the wrapper. And those are at least 3 years old. How sad is that?
I figure that after the kids get home from school and we are done with all the running around and errands then I can get on the treadmill.
I am feeling like I am coming down with something. My head feels heavy and throat scratchy and a bit headachey. I sure hope not. I hate being sick. Could be allergies.

Wish me luck. It sounds good while I am saying it right now so hopefully later I can just do it!

p.i.s.s! Very appropriate acronym! I too have dealt with that. No losses 3rd week. Just had a woosh when I weighed today, though! Now I am down a total of 13 lbs, to 206! Soo excited that I'm about to be out of the 200lb range! It has been so long! (pre-baby!!)

Yesterday, I did get around to doing about 30 mins of very gentle, relaxing yoga. Have ordered a fat-burning yoga dvd off netflix that will hopefully be good, it is with the same instructor that I really like from candlelight yoga.

Can't decide what I'm going to do today. It is beautiful out, I SHOULD take the baby to the park, but when I do I always find some excuse to not exersize for 30 mins... I only do one one-mile lap usually, and slowly.

Also have to lug wet laundry back and forth to the laundromat .. its too close to justify using the car, its like 1/4 a mile. ..But our dryer is broken, and there's no mony for a new one..

Determined- good job with making a realistic goal thats not too overwelming! I know you can do it! Same to you, Jamie! Hope you get to feeling better.

I did it!!!
15 minutes on the treadmill. I would have gone longer but it kept stopping because the key is worn out and it kept falling out and the treadmill kept turning off. Very irritating!!! But I will take the 15 minutes for today. My pedometer says I only walked 5896 steps all day. That is lame. I will do my best to get back on it tomorrow.
Thanks for the support.

Well I did 25 minutes tonight on the treadmill. I waited again till it was very late. Ugh, makes it so hard to go
