Sat. already gone....
loves to eat!!! Yup we all love to eat that's why we need this web site LOL!!!! Hope you will find our support helpful! It has kept me from giving up over the past couple weeks!! Thanks Kathleen & Teresa ![]() Birthday dinner at moms today went ok. I did have a piece of my moms cheese cake, but like I said earlier I was not going to tell my 79yr old mom "no" when she took the time to make it. Plus we all know that the one piece twice a year is not what made us fat. Then at the visit to the cousins after there was no food involved so that was a relief. Tomorrow is my Euchre club & that will be a challange. Since it's a bbq & not just appetizers & desert I should have better choices. There will be meat for sure & most likely veggies. This year I have been free from smoking long enough that it shouldn't be a temptation for me. Teresa my dh doesn't play cards either. I love cards so these girls groups are right up my alley!! You could start your own for sure--this one started from a gal who had to leave her other club & she missed it. Called 7 friends so that we can have 2 tables of 4 & set the ground rules for us and here we are 14yrs later. 12 of us originals are still in the group. We each take a turn hosting it so it runs 8 months of the year, & the hostess provides the coffee & desert. We each bring a dish & our own cold or alcoholic drinks. We put $10 into the pot each month, which we use to take our whole group out for a nice Christmas dinner. Always a great time & always too much great food.... Good to hear that the new job is working out well Kathleen. That kitchen arrangement will really be a help to you to stay on track!! Still a few more days visitng with your folks right?? No menu for today or tomorrow but tomorrow before I head out to Euchre I will get Mon's food all together so that I won't have any excuse to not be 100% on track for a new week. Loves-to-eat we weigh in each Mon so be prepared....ha! corrisann |

Saturday night
Hi, All--
Greetings, loves-to-eat--happy to have you on board! Your menu looks good for today. It is hard the first few days, but if you stick with lowcarb, after you burn the carbs out of your body you won't be as hungry. If you do get hungry, just eat some more protein and drink a lot of water or tea or coffee. I drink a lot of tea with half-and half in it and that helps stave off the desire to eat. You have five lovely children! That's wonderful! And also a challenge, I'm sure when you're trying to eat on a plan. You will probably have to build up the strength to resist the things the kids are eating, but with practice you'll get there! Today I had to resist overeating at my friend's birthday party. They had banana cream pie and peach pie, two of my favorites, and I only had 2 bites of each, and no crust! Congratulations Corrisann for only having a small amount of cheesecake at your mother's birthday! I think cheesecake is not so bad because it has a lot of fat in it, better than regular cake. Kathleen, it's so great your new job is going to work out so well for you! You'll be able to stay on plan, and have your friend nearby! Terrific! What a wonderful program for the lodge, too. It's so sad about the children but so great you are helping them, bless you all! B - egg yolk. sausage, spinach L - salad w/beef, chicken, little whipped cream mousse D - salad, tofu, chicken stirfry, few bites banana cream, peach pie S - few almonds, pecans |

Good Morning Ladies,
I see you all have been doing well so far this weekend. I did good with the food yesterday but overindulged in the libations!! We were at the lodge all day and then they had a band last night , so needless to say I am up 2 lbs this morning!! I don't care today (tomorrow I will) because we raised eleven thousand dollars!!!!!! That is the biggest benefit we have ever done!! I am so proud of our lodge. The children were all able to make an appearence so that was great to be able to see were our hard work is going. Today I think we will just take it easy. We might go get the wood for our shutters in case the storm comes here, but right now I am just exhausted and don't feel like doing a thing!! I don't know how I would do if confronted with cheesecake or the pies. Apple pie and cheesecake are my favorites for that type of food. Thankfully I don't have a big sweet tooth. I am really taking a liking to the smoked almonds! It gives me the crunch I am missing without the chips. That is my biggest pitfall, chips. I have been very carefull to portion them out. I could see where you could easily eat the whole can!! Sounds like everyone has another fun day today. Corrisan maybe you could bring a spinach dip with veggies or a cheese tray to your card game? That way you would have something to help you not overdo the bad stuff! Like you said it wasn't that taste that put us over HaHa. Loves to eat, I always try to have some cooked chicken, ham or boiled eggs in the fridge in case I need a little something to hold me over. That way it is ready and on hand so you know what you are going to eat in a pinch. It helps to plan ahead!! How old are your children? I will bet your eating habits will influence them also. They need the carbs but it would be good to look at some of the other junk they are consuming so they don't have this problem later on in life too. That way you won't be so tempted also......... well todays menu is gonna be a treat! B- almonds and ham w/ cream cheese. L-Hot wings and salad D-Lasagna roll ups w/ Dreamfields pasta noodles!! S-almonds, coleslaw I hope we all have a great healthy eating day and can stay on plan! Kathleen |

Sunday evening
Good Evening, Everyone--
Wow! Kathleen, $11,000 for those kids--incredible! Your lodge has done so great for them; you must be proud to be a part of such a wonderful group. I hope hurricane Dean does not come your way! Your menu did sound so tasty and fun today! Spicy and delicious; I think I need to find some new foods to try. I've never had hot wings, so I'm going to see where I can find some. Do you make them yourself or get them somewhere? Sundays we always go to the Greek restaurant for lunch, and I always either have salad and meatballs or moussaka without the potatoes. It's good, but I'm getting tired of the same old thing. Maybe I'll try the Greek roast chicken next time (I'm hungry!). I went for almost 1/2 hour walk this afternoon--yeah! My feet hurt, but it was tolerable. It's so great, love-to-eat, that you and your 12 yr. old walk together! That's such a nice thing to do with your kids. When we lived in the desert and I didn't have foot trouble, we used to go hiking with our kids a lot. I really miss that! And congratulations for sticking to the way of eating when there wasn't any lowcarb available--that must have been extremely difficult! I hope you got enough to eat later! Next time take some lowcarb food for yourself. You have to make sure you're not getting too hungry so you'll stay on the diet. Corrisann, did you have lots of fun at your card group? How did the food go? That's where I'd be sorely tempted! Hope you had a really fun day. B - sausage, spinach, egg yolk L - Greek salad, moussaka without the potatoes D - seared ahi tuna, mayo, crookneck squash, green beans S - lc chocolate, jalapeno smoked almonds (I want to eat the whole can of these, too, Kathleen, but try to limit it to 8 at a time!) |

another work week
Well here we are at Mon again.....another week has flown by!!
all time high 249 start date 6/18/07 today's wgt 242 last week's wgt 241 goal 160 5'6" 53yrs old So I found the lb I lost last week....hope you all did better than I did!! But this week has no extra activities of any kind so I can really toe the line/no excuses allowed! Today's menu: B=Coffee w/cream 4oz steak 1 brautwurst L=10 chicken wings S=2 hard boiled eggs D=roast chicken & celery w/cream cheese Thought I would do induction this week to get my body back to burning the fat & get me beyond any cravings that my goofy eating the last few weeks has restarted. DH did let me go to the store w/$40....told him it almost wasn't worth going with that little bit, haha!! So I was able to get some protein for me, & of course some stuff for them too. Love to eat are you new to this woe & doing induction?? If so your choices are pretty simple--I make sure I at least use variety so I don't get bored that first couple weeks. I was thinking I need to get the Atkins book from the library & refresh myself on how it all works in your body again. I remember the foods quite well but have forgotten some of the other stuff. Congrats on not eating at the church dinner....boy that was a tough one!! And Teresa is right you need to keep a baggie of almonds or something in your purse so that you don't get caught off guard & get home starved & eat all kinds of stuff that you shouldn't. And having a family there will be lots of things you shouldn't have....lol!!!! I did ok at Euchre--over ate but on salads & fresh fruit. That screws you up on Atkins I know but it is at least a healthy screw up. Kathleen that was a great fund raiser!!!! Well worth all of your hard work! Good to hear that you ate carefully. Hope you aren't blowing away in all the Dean mess!!! They said it was heading to southern Tx & I know that's where you are.....have your folks headed back home? Ok I got on here as soon as I got in from work so I need to get off & get some other stuff taken care of. Ya'll need to get on here with your numbers!!! Teresa I so want to know how all your hard work paid off this week?? Good for you with that walk!!!!! corrisann |

Tuesday morning
Hi, All--
Sorry I didn't get checked in yesterday; I had a really busy day, and last night just before I was getting ready to check in, my poor little doggie got skunked! Needless to say, I became totally hysterical and spent the rest of my evening trying to clean her up! Plus the whole house reeks because she ran in the house before I knew what happened and rubbed her poor little eyes on the carpet and on my bedspread! I did get her cleaned up fairly well, though; thankfully it wasn't a super close hit. Man, am I tired and sore today! But the good news is I lost 1 1/2 lbs. this week, so I'm happy about that. I was hoping for 2 lbs. but I'll take whatever I can get! Corrisann, you did good at your card party! Probably that 1 lb. is just water retention from the fruit. I bet you'll make some good progress this week. Keep at it--just think, you'll get out of the 40's very soon! Kathleen, hope you were able to make some progress toward your goal, too! How is your job going? All time high - 175 (1998) Start date - 6/6/07 - 165 Last Mon. - 158 Today - 156 1/2 B - egg yolk, spinach, sausage L - salad w/turkey, roast beef, chicken D - tuna, mayo, crookneck squash, chard S - pecans, cr ch |

Sorry I was out of touch!
Mondays stats
All time high (2007)- 273 Start date June 18, '07 - 273 Last Monday - 255-1/2 Today - 257 Goal - 175 to start Height - 5'7 Age - 50 Woo Hoo I gained.......Oh well My dh is gone out on the rig and I should be able to bring it back. I only have to cook for myself and that always makes it easier!! Sorry I was out of touch but we were busy getting him ready and my parents are still here and with working I don't have my groove on yet! I know the gain is from the cocktails from the weekend but I am cutting back too this week so I can reach my goal for next week! I really haven't been bad with the wrong food....maybe a little too much though.......the Dreamfields lasagna came out really good..................maybe I had too much........... Teresa you have done an excellent job of forceing that weight off!! Keep up the good work. I can't believe that sweet dog tangled with a skunk!! Corrisann you and me, we gotta tighten up!! You did the right thing by sticking with the fruit and veggies. I am really proud of you. With your trip to the store things will be so much easier for you. Love to eat you did a fantastic job at the church lunch!! You will be able to make something next time that you and others can enjoy! Check out the recipies on this site, they are wonderfull. Your family won't even realize what they are missing. I have a low carb recipe for coleslaw thats pretty tasty and do try the revolution rolls. There are many threads here on this web site on them and they make it easy to make sandwiches or have hot dogs and kraut! Things you are already feeding the kids. I am glad you are walking. I really need to start...........but I am lazy! Here I thought Teresa had tried everything and you have never had hot wings???? There are so good. I know you like things spicy since you like Mexican food. I make mine on the grill or in the oven and all I do is let them sit in Louisianna hot sauce and bake or grill till done. The kind that I use, you don't even have to baste them or they get too hot and spicy!! Well I am off to my Lodge business meeting and tomorrow I am having the parents over again for dinner. I bought 20 lbs of jumbo shrimp at the benefit at the auction and I hope to get them picked up so I can make something delicious with them. Todays menu B-Ham and green beans (leftovers) L-Country Pork Ribs and salad D-grilled chicken and salad S-almonds (I am hooked) and maybe strawberries or SF jello. Later Kathleen' PS The job is going great. I really like it! |

A quick good morning before I get ready for work. I am so glad the storm is way south of here, especially with my dh gone! Now if I can get the yard done before the rain starts! Hope you all have a good and healthy eating day. I am trying to keep things simple and lite this week. I did get some nice strawberries and that is helping with the sudden fruit cravings I am having. Every fruit I see looks like a picture from a magazine with the dew and all! HA HA. Wonder why that is. I was never really one to eat that much fruit to begin with!
We learned at the meeting last night the final total for our benefit was just over $12,000 We did good! And we also got several people who want to join our organization! That means more help for next time!! Todays Menu B-coffee w/ cream fried eggs and sliced ham L-Grilled chicken on a pita w/pico de gallo (tomato, onoin, cilantro & jalapeno diced) D- Grilled bacon wrapped shrimp, broccolli and cheese, salad S- almonds, strawberries See ya Later, Kathleen |

hump day
Good morning gal's! Love Wed's cause my morning is mine!!! Drink my coffee slowly, not in a cup in the car on the freeway....LOL!!!
So glad everyone is back! Was a bit freaked on Mon when no one showed.... Teresa my dog got skunked once & OMG what a mess!!! The house stunk, the dog, us even--for weeks. We washed the dog to death & the smell in the bricks of the house just had to wear off. Poor dog would get stinky smelling when she'd curl up & go to sleep for a couple of months. Think it's one of the worse messes we've ever had period!!!! And I know how exhausted you were the next day! Hope the smell comes out of the carpet & bedspread! Glad to hear you didn't float or blow away Kathleen & that you were just busy with family! But you are right, you & I need to tighten up!! There is "not push yourself too fast & giving up" but I think there is also being "too laid back so that it never happens" too and I know I am borderline on that one! You are so close to your 20lbs---you just got to make it happen!! Just think how grand it will be to be able to say at the end of the summer--hey in June I was 20lbs heavier! WOW! You must be close to changing a size by now. And like most of us women probably have clothes in the closet that you can wear now that you couldn't in June. Great thing with starting a new job!! That's grand on the totals for the fund raiser! I'm sure the families are beyond greatful!! Hey Teresa what is it you do with the spinach each morning? You must love it cause you have it everyday. And you do yolks & not whites--which I also find interesting. Your menu today sounds wonderful Kathleen! Bacon wrapped shrimp!! When we can eat so grand we have no excuse to not loose! What is a slice of bread compared to bacon wrapped shrimp.....LOL!!! Well I need to get a few things done here so I need to get a move on. Todays menu: B=coffee w/cream eggs & bacon L=chicken salad maybe in one of those flatbreads I bought D=not sure have to check out the kitchen we're still pretty low on foods s=1oz nuts |

Know with 5 kids you are beyond busy...LOL!!! But if you'll stop in & take just 5 minutes to say hello you'll feel much more resolved with that days eating plan!! With those 5 kiddies to chase around you need to loose the weight to have all the energy you can!!! Boy I can't even imagine how busy your days are... corrisann |

Wednesday
Hi, gals--
Glad you get a nice morning to relax a bit, Corrisann. I love to sit with my breakfast and tea in the morning and read the newspaper, then do the sudoku; I've become addicted to that. I have steamed spinach just about every morning because it's an anti-inflammatory food and a very low carb way to get in my vegetables. It's just so easy to throw the prewashed leaves into the steamer and cooks in a few minutes. I eat it with a lot of butter, and a little soy sauce and vinegar; that makes it tasty. I love egg yolks, but not the whites! Dh likes whites, so he gets them. But I also read that Atkins works best with a higher fat to protein ratio, so that's another reason, but the way I eat the rest of the day, it probably doesn't make any difference! Gena does still smell skunky! I used tomato juice on my other dog and that worked pretty well. There's a product you can use that's supposed to work, too. She's due for a groom soon so I imagine they can put something on her to get the rest of the smell out. I'm still washing bedding this morning! I've been craving fruit, too! Maybe it's the time of year. Dh brought home some small plums from the farmer's market this week, and I had to have some, but they're a little tart and not too sweet, so I think they're OK--so good! I also had some strawberries the other day. It's allowable on the lowcarb plan, just if we get stalled we might have to not eat it for awhile. I try not to have too much in a day. We probably need the minerals or something. I think since we're on this plan forever, we have to learn how to include fruit. Well, I have to take the dog to get her annual vaccinations, so catch y'all later--have a great day! B - bacon, egg yolk, spinach L - salad. shrimp enchiladas D - Gabriella's restaurant--probably fish or pork chop & greens S - almonds, cr ch |

I too was wondering about the spinach!! I love raw spinach (often mix it with my "salad" fixins) or in spinach dip or creamed but I have never like steamed or cooked. The way you mix it with the vinegar and soy and butter might make it tolerable for me! But I don't think it is something I would want first thing in the morning HaHa. Being an anti-inflammatory food I need to try it! Does it work for you as well if you don't cook it? I am doing much better with the swollen ankles but I think I can do better. At least they don't hurt like they used to!
This is gonna be our week Corrisann. We will make our mini goals!! And you are correct about the too laid back so that it never happens thing. We are going to MAKE it happen! Just checking in with you gals keeps me going. Knowing that I will have to "tell" on myself makes me not go near the chips!! I have done better this time overall since I am looking at it from a long sited view instead of a short sited thing. With all the variation of food and ya'lls support I might not be losing as fast as I once did but I am losing and I don't feel deprived or cheated in any way. By this time last time I was way out of control and already giving up and I don't feel anything like that! I hope you all feel the same way. Love-to-eat you need to check in even if you feel you have been bad, just tell us and get on with it!! We have all been there more than once! That's why we are here! Gabriella's restaurant sounds realy nice! I think it would be harder for me to do this woe if I ate out as much as you do Teresa. You must really be in control!! When I worked downtown Corpus I would eat out everyday and I put on most of the weight I am carrying now LOL!! I just did not have the control to say I need to eat the good stuff and had the rolls and white carbs and everything else I could!! You are doing a wonderful job keeping ahead in your goals! I also think we need a little fruit to keep this on going. I haven't venture from the berries yet and they seem to be doing the trick right now. I keep doing a little of them untill I tire of them and them try something else. I did have some Low Carb ice cream tonight with them. But I measured it out and put the carton away before I even started eating it! That way I would not be temped to cheat! Well I have rambled on long enough. Take care, Kathleen |

Wednesday night
Good evening--
I just got back from dinner and thought I'd check in. I did OK--no bread, tomato salad, ate only half my lamb entree, and just had a few bites of dessert, some kind of pudding; so that wasn't too bad, but....after lunch today I ate almost an entire piece of chocolate cheesecake!! I felt stuffed after I did it, too, not good at all. I was feeling a little stressed and I just wanted that as comfort food, I think. Bummer! But, you know, it's like you are saying Kathleen, I'm losing weight slower this time but have stayed with the program in general longer than I ever have before, and I don't feel like giving up just because I blew it one meal. It's getting to be a very tolerable, even pleasant, way of eating now and I'm not going on an all out binge like I would have in the past. I'm sure that having this support has been the reason I've been able to stick with it and make this a new pattern. So thanks, you guys, for being here! I know I will do better the rest of the week because I really want to lose some more by Monday! Re the spinach--I rarely fix it raw, but sometimes have a spinach salad when we're out. It's usually with vinegar and oil, bacon, hard cooked egg, red onions, and maybe pecans or walnuts, sometimes with mandarin oranges or strawberries, and maybe a little crumbled blue cheese or shaved hard cheese--pretty good actually. Well it's getting to be bedtime --hope you all are sleeping well, and have a fine day tomorrow--we will continue to march toward our goals! Just staying on the plan this long is definitely cause for celebration! |

oh my goodness
Love to eat!!! I know your kids must have been very upset to see mommy get hurt!!! I hope you are on the mend! Trying to rest & heal with 5 kids is next to impossible....LOL!!! Time to call in all your favors with family & friends & dh!That's my main problem too Teresa. I will do excellent all day long & then give in to some temptation during the last hour of the day!! Makes me soooo mad cause there went all my hard effort!!! Last nite it was two handfuls of dark chocolate peanut M&M's....nite before it was 3 Milano Choc Raspberry cookies..... All I can hope is that by being so good during the day the damage is small??? You really really do not want to loose the ground you made this past week with that lb & a half loss!!!!I love spinach salad with bacon & cheese etc. Only way I'll eat it. Tried a couple recipes last time I did Atkins where the spinach was just wilted quickly in the pan & had things added. DH really liked them, I did not. The South Beach diet allows more fruit & does the lower fat choices of proteins. I got that book from the library & read it back in Feb when I knew I was going to have to get back to it again. But I think with my body the fat burning works best. When the wgt is off & we are in maintenance I believe we can do like diabetics & have 2-3 fruits a day. I love the berries but most of the year they cost a fortune!!! Today I am taking ds & a fully loaded car up to his apartment at EMU. Going to be a long busy day. Work tomorrow & then we have to fill the car & van and take up another load on Sat. Come back home & load them up again to be ready to do a return trip on Sun after church & the church picnic. So by Mon I will be pooped!! And will really have to watch the eating, when I'm tired & stressed I turn to food!! Course I turn to food when I'm happy & want to celebrate too....LOL!!! I just love food! Kathleen I also would be in big trouble if I ate out as much as Teresa.....all those yummy food baskets alone would have me at 300lbs...LOL!!! Well you girls all have a good day. Stay true to yourself! corrisann |

Good evening ladies,
Love-to-eat of course we are not mad. we don't get mad we are here for your support!!You have to get some rest after that accident. I hope the older kids are helping you out in your time of need. I hope you can recouperate quickly!! Please take Corrisan's advice and call in a few favors........ Coorrisan you will need that vacation soon after this week is up!! That sounds like a lot of stuff!! I hope your son has made some friends to help put it in the place he's staying!! All that cleaning out of the closets is finally paying off!! Be carefull on the road.........the weather looks like it has been nasty up there, are you getting all that rain? Teresa I just came from dinner and the way you described that spinach salad I could eat again!! That sounds yummy!! Been a long time since I got excited over vegtables!! We are all learning through this process and that is what counts the most!! You could have ate a whole dessert and the cake!! Corrisann could have ate the whole bag of M&M's....see ....we are adjusting to our new way of life. We will get there with patience with ourselves. We are patient with others aren't we? That is why we have to treat ourselves better or at least the same................ Today I went for dinner with my parents and my brother and sister inlaw. I had a good steak and grilled zuchini and salad( PLUS WATER) I bought some water bottles for work and I can just refill them when I get done. I hope to consume more water since that is one thing I have slacked up on. For lunch I had grilled chicken, broccoli and salad and at breakfast I had a ham sandwich on a revolution roll with mayo. All in all a pretty good day. I am so full right now I am just going too drink some water and watch a little TV and go to bed. I did not sleep well last night and am kinda tired. I am glad my dh called this morning ( he usually dosen't call in the AM) and woke me up!! I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep!! Don't want to late for work my first week!! He is so good like that. Well ladies I will talk to you tomorrow, Kathleen Last edited by rican3 : 08-23-2007 at 06:53 PM. |

oh my aching feet.....
Oh today was the day to be 30lbs lighter!!! We walked 4 trips across campus & back, & in bright sunshine w/ 90 degrees.....my idea of hell....
But we got everything done & signed and one load into his apartment. The car was so full I think we looked like the Beverly Hill Billys....ha! Working on setting things up with him was fun. But we both just had the sweat running down our faces & arms...don't remember when I've sweated like that. Been drinking all day. It's all for the young that's for sure...lol !!! The weekend is going to be hot too & so that is gonna be hard finishing up the moving....Kathleen we had a lot of rain over the last 2 days but it came steady & gentle all day long so that the earth had a chance to absorb it. Everything is so dry! Poor Ohio is where the rivers flooded & made such a mess. We are 2-3hrs from those areas. You are so right about eating the whole bag of M&M's....so it is nice to know that we are at least learning something, ha!! Am really looking forward to ds being gone & getting back into our regular routine. And the heat easing so I can get some actual cooking done. More complete meals will help me a lot I think. After all the talk about spinach I was remembering a couple of the cauliflower dishes that were so good!! Dh asked "are you sure you're suppose to be eating this" when I made them. And I want to try the revo.rolls & that spicy soup. Your menu for the day sounded right on track Kathleen! Putting you closer to that 20lb mark! Tomorrows menu: B=coffee w/cream eggs & bacon L=salad of some kind D=roasted chicken & strawberries |

Thursday night
Good Evening, Girls-- I am so sorry to hear of your accident, love-to-eat. I hope you are recuperating with someone to help you. You shouldn't even be thinking about dieting at this time. Your body needs food to heal, so I hope you are getting some nutritious healthy food, and rest. Feel better soon! Corrisann, 90 degrees with high humidity--wh |
