Hey Ladies!

Just popping in to say hello and great work to you all!

Natalie-- I have had foot problems myself and what I can offer is that most Dr.'s do not have the specialty in understanding your foot problems. I would go to an orthopedic doctor to get it checked out if the pain persists.

Anyhow I'm just peeking in!

great work gals and keep up the fitness for the summer!

WOE: what ever it takes

Hello All!! I'm still around and running. I'll finish Week 2 of the 3wks to 30 minutes tomorrow morning but I plan on repeating it next week.

I had company all week and don't feel like I gave the program my all so I want to repeat it and just make sure I give it my best.

So, two more weeks and then I'm back to the C25k.......I'm determined I'm going to finish that sucker....

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!!!

Hi, I am kind of stuck on week 6. I have actually stopped doing the pod cast, and am just running as long as I can than a small break and starting again. I haven't been able to do the 25 minutes. I am going to try it on the road tomorrow morning. I hope I can do it, and move on to week 7.
Any suggestions on how to get over the distance hump? I really don't mind just running for 5 than walk and run 10 and walk and run 5 again. I guess the interval is good for weight loss. I have lost 5 lbs in the last 6 weeks.too cool.

1) What week/day are you on? --- I'm just starting!!!
3) Are you running for time or distance? Time at first since first week.
4) Are you running indoors or out? Outside right now, I hate treadmills.
5) How do you feel? -- I feel fine. I actually went for 25 minutes instead of 20. (accident but didnt bother me).

I was proud, I could have kept going.

So is anyone else just starting???? I would love to have a buddy to do this with to keep me honest!!!

Dawn I'm here

I'm home for a day today, was in VA beach last week and leaving for New England tomorrow.

Haven't run though and I know I'll pay for it.......................going to be starting week 4 if I can next week.

Hope all is going well for everyone.

This has really helped my steady weight loss, it stall for a week or so, but now is going pretty steady (knock on wood)

Congrats on the loss Tarolee!!! KUTGW!!! Just keep on doing what you can and each session push yourself a little more than you "Think" you can go. I firmly believe that there's a LOT of mental barriers to get through along with the physical. Even if it's only an extra 30 seconds of running at least it's "more" than the last time.

desdemona!!! I'm not new but still here to cheer you on.
Can't wait to hear your updates on how you're doing.

That's awesome! I too started to just do my own music, and warm up then start a 5min run, the walk, etc. I am going to start week 4 next week, and I'm thinking of doing my own thing again. On the road!!! Yes, I'm hoping to 'make it to the road, soon. I want to start 'outside' runs on a nice stretch of FLAT road that I know. LOL I live on a mountside and everywhere seems UP from here. I know I know hills are good...............NOT yet for me. too defeating. But I'll get there.

Have a great day!

Hey there Bethy!!! We posted at the same time.

Congrats on the steady weight loss!!! Lots of luck on Week 4!!

I'm on my final week of 3wks to 30 minutes. I repeated Week 2 because I didn't feel I did my best while I had company in town.

I've made the decision that after this week I will be doing steady running rather than going back to the C25K to complete weeks 7 through 9.

By the end of this week I will have accomplished what I set out to do which is run for 30 minutes on a regular basis.

And my next goal is to be able to run for an hour.

I'll also be working on getting a bit faster each month since right now my "run" is basically considered a "jog" by most.

It's really cool because if I add all the time I've been training I have been a Runner for 12wks I believe. And this week will be my 13th. If I'm adding it up correctly anyway. I'm going to go back and check that because now I'm not sure....

ETA: Looks like week 13 for me starts on Thursday because my official start date was on a Thursday. Still pretty darn good if I say so myself.

Dawn,

That is so awesome!!! You are a great role model!!!

My 'run' is definitely a 'jog' to most, my hubby said that doesn't matter and over time you will get faster naturally with weight coming down and easier breathing.

Congrats on running 30 min straight.........GOD I can't imagine that yet. almost but not yet. I had to repeat week 2 a couple times.

I hope to run my first 5k over the winter. There are 'Shiver by the River' races here that my hubby and daughter do. One in Nov, one in Dec, and one in Jan. and of course you get Tshirts for competing and a trophy if you do all three. So that's my goal, so far!! It's also inspiring my 17yo daughter to maybe do them this year too.

Bethy Again great job!

well, I have ran 25 min for the last 3 runs. Not as bad as I thought. My son has been great, talking to me when I need to take my mind off jogging, and handing me water so I don't have to carry it. Yesterday, he wasn't with me. I ran and ended up stopping, but the kicker was when the 25 minutes was over, I was farther along with walking for 3 minutes than I was the last 2 times I ran with him. So my pace was a 3 minutes faster!!! I couldn't believe it. anyway. I was way pooped out, but I still had to stop to get my legs to stop shaking.

I've just found this thread. I have bookmarked the link and plan to read it carefully. I have already started adding the odd minute to my Walks....I think I can do this...I think I can! Yeah!

I sure need some Cardio in addition to my workouts.

Hi everyone,
Okay you guys got me motivated! I'm just getting back into the routine of exercising-only day two of walking on my treadmill and then I saw this thread and thought why not give jogging a try. Its so sad that I was exercising and then one day just quit. Well, I want that endorphin rush back. I will report tomorrow with day 1. Wish me luck. lol!

desdemona can you tell me how you felt? I havent jogged in ages. Was it the breathing? I'm looking forward to feeling the achiness that I know I will experience tomorrow.

The breathing wasn't bad.

I don't think it would have been too bad for me except I did my normal cardio at the gym + pilates first, then came home and then did my day 2 walk/jog after. I was already really warmed up and stretched out of course, but my muscles were very tired. Day 1 I felt like I could have kept going. Today I did what I did but I was ready to be done at the end.

My heart rate ended up hitting 163 at the very last jogging set, but my average heart rate was 139. Just being on week one it doesn't feel so bad. The thing is I look ahead to week 3-4 and just go oh wow, I wont be able to run that far....

we'll see.

1) What week/day are you on? --- Week 1 day 1
3) Are you running for time or distance? Time at first since first week.
4) Are you running indoors or out? on the treadmill
5) How do you feel? -- I feel great. I thought that it would have kicked my hiney more. I actually felt like I could have done more but I am going to stick to the schedule.

Day 1 down YAY!!

Hi Des, Happy2 and Susan, Good luck w/ the challange, you will feel like you're never going to get finished, but every week you push just a little more, and a little more and you will do it.

I never thought I would be able to run for 25 minutes, but I now can. Just a little more. It is such a great feeling.

Keep with it!!

to all the newbies!!!

If you go through and read the whole thread you'll see where a bunch of us old timers didn't think we'd make it either.

I did the C25K weeks 1, 2, and 3 two times each. Then I made myself be do weeks 4, 5, and 6 without repeating.

I didn't feel I could move on to weeks 7, 8, and 9 so I switched programs to 3wks to 30 minutes from About.com with a repeat of the 2nd week.

Sunday will be my last training run for that program and then it'll just be me improving my time and distance a little each week instead of finishing up the C25k like I originally planned.

Wish you all the best of luck!!

I will still be checking in but maybe not posting as often.

You Can Do It!!!

Try not to look too far ahead and scare yourself.

My experience was that the 1st run of the week "I" would kick butt...the 2nd run would kick "my" butt....and the 3rd run would be a ton better but would still make me question whether or not I could progress. Then it would repeat the next week.

Also, in the beginning the Podcast would help tremendously because I didn't have to keep looking at my watch. But eventually I did a mix of my own music that I knew would keep me going.
