Bethy, I am doing week one over because I missed 4 days and also because I didn't think I could make the 90 seconds. I have noticed I don't get out of breath as much as my legs feel like they are going to collapse.

I did my walk/run and then did my shapely secrets dvd. Man was that hard. I was sweating up a storm. Luckily it's only 7 minutes. I am going to do the SS dvd everyday and the walk/run every other day.

Since I did my July virtual 5K today I'm counting W6 as done.

I am no where near ready to continue to W7 and have officially decided to switch programs to the 3 weeks to 30 minutes from about.com and then if I feel like I'm ready I'll go back to the C25K and complete Weeks 7 thru 9.

But if ya'll wouldn't mind I'd still like to come in here and check in for accountability.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

Hi all,

Jazlyn, try jogging slower. I found it helped me a lot.

Yesterday I did W5D1 and it wasn't that bad. I really feel I should be able to do the 2x8 minute runs. The 20 minute run for Wednesday really scares me.

Well, I will check in later.

Keep on running!!! We CAN do it!!

I hope you can help.

I have begun a new training program which includes interval training. I began (treadmill) running a few weeks ago and after only being able to do a few short bursts I can now run about 2k. My question is do you take regular breaks or run everyday? I'm wondering how quickly to proceed.

I am aiming to run 5k for charity next year so any help would be appreciated.

Lou-be-wan, (love your name )
Yes, you should rest a day inbetween, or do some other form of exercise on your rest day. It really helps me and keeps me on track.

Read that article even if you are following a different plan.
Good luck!

I plan on doing my w2d3 and going to go a little slower, and see if I can make it today..........I'll check back in later!!

Dawn: Thanks so much for the tip on slowing down my pace. It really helped! did the whole thing today, and felt much better. I think you were right and I was trying to go to fast and didn't have enough to finish. THANKS SO MUCH! I'm going to repeat week 2 and do it at a slower pace.

Bethy

Have a great day ALL!

I was doing this before but due to various life changes had quit around week 4. I'm starting again this week! I'm going to order some new running shoes as a motivator as well. Looking forward to rejoining the thread.

Thanks for the welcome <waves>

I was just going to ask what type of shoes do you all wear, is there one brand or a specific type that is better than another? At the moment I wear '3 stripe, classic' trainers and whilst they are very comfortable I know that they aren't right for running as my foot moves a little.

Lou-bi-wan, I wear Asics Gel lite's, style is either Nimbus or Cumulus, my hubby insists on decent footwear. He has run for over 20 years. They are what fit my feet nicely, and have really good cushioning for my weight. I have very high arches and these seem to help with any foot pain, I've had none (crossing fingers) so far. Best thing to do is go to a 'running' shop or shoe store and try a bunch of pairs on, and test them out run down the isle and back. Good luck!

Happy 4th Everyone!!!

I just completed Day 4 of the 3wks to 30 minutes and boy did it kick my booty. But I loved it every minute of it.

Okay maybe not minute 24 but I loved the rest.

Did it on the treadmill again but I'm really starting to hate that thing.

The Dh and I will be running outside together while my parents are visiting. We'll go before he heads off to work so the heat won't be as bad.

I am on week5 I did day 1 twice, when I started doing the 8 minute run I couldn't do it. Yesterday, I ran the 8 minutes twice. It felt really good. I know now, it is really hard to run after work. It is so much easier to do on an off day. I wish I didn't leave for work at 7:30.

Tomorrow after work, I will try to do the 20 minute run on the treadmill (will watch a dvd or something to keep my head busy). If not, I will do the 8 minute again and do the 20 minute on Sunday (in the morning).

Good job everybody. We can do it!!!

Thanks for the great advice Bethy, exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to have a think about the couch to 5k challenge but I have a couple of other goals to achieve first. Speak soon.

Good luck everyone.

Everyone!

Hoping to join this group to keep me motivated! I just did week 3 on the couch to 5K. I'd love to move up the ladder quickly, but we'll see how it goes. The weather will be in the middle 90's this weekend so I'll have to get out there very early or very late!

I have to go back and look at all the posts!

Happy running!

Hello everyone ! I started this with my DH a week and a half ago. He has never run in his life, and it's so inspiring to see him work at something and conquer things. Do you mind if I post here with our results? I finished this in Feb but I am doing it again for him.

We did week 2 day 2 yesterday. It was very hot but we only had time to do it right after we both got off of work. The last 90 sec run we did a sprint at the end to a stop sign, and it about killed me... but I won

I finished week 5, I watched a "sex and the city" dvd and it kept me busy. I did the whole 20 minutes. I will plan on doing the long runs inside, and get used to the longer distance runs, than go to the street and hit the hills. It felt really good to finish it up. I feel really good!

Hello everyone.. well I actually completed the couch to 5K program last year, and guess what when I finished it, I just stopped altogether. I think I am just gonna start it all over again, which I think after a week or so, it will be like old times, and wont be as hard for me as it was the first time around. But even so, starting over will be a good warm up.. to get things movin again. I am going to start week 1 day 1 tomorrow.
