Bethy,
I have noticed it is a lot easier in the morning when your still fresh than to run in the evening after a long day. I don't blam you for wanting to do it early. |

Worked out a day late and.......
Well, I didn't get my run in yesterday, the men didn't leave until 3pm then I had errands, yada yada yada.
But..............I did do it this morning, I did W2D1 it was a push and I knew when the 90sec run period was over, aahhh. But I did it! yay! Then I did some leg work (standing squats, leg lifts) then crunches then, arm work with free weights. I'm sure I will be dead. LOL And I came to a conclusion that I REALLY REALLY like lifting. I used to lift in my teens and 20's and with music on I get a rush lifting weights and feeling my muscles work. OK OK I'm still in the glow stage after my work out ![]() . But I really would like to get a home work out gym, to add to my running, Does anyone have a bow flex type machine, or equivalent and do you like it? Bethy

I just finished w1 d3. It's not getting any easier and I'm worried about week 2. I'm really going to push myself and get it done though.
Bethy, I don't have a bowflex or anything like it. My son wants one but we don't have the space. My husband's friend has one though and he looks really buff at 44. Do you all just do the 3 days a week or do you do some other form of exercize on your days off? I walked yesterday. It says on the couch to 5k site to rest inbetween but I feel like I need to exercize 6 days a week. I bought the shapely secrets dvds but they haven't arrived yet. |

I started week 4 this morning. It was a real push doing the 5 minute run, but i did it. Today I wore a watch, I was running the other day and really wanted to quit. with the watch, I know only 30 more seconds/ or 1 more minute...u can do it. It really helped today me go the distance.
did 2.5 miles in 32 minutes. I don't think that is too bad. I walked a little extra after the pod cast. Jaz, I was walking on my off days. Also bought Callanetics, I did it one day so far, but plan on doing it on my off days.

Tight chest
Hi all
![]() It's SunnySA. I tried for the first time yesterday but couldn't do 20 minutes. My chest felt like it had closed and then it felt so bad I started to respect runners a whole lot more. I wasn't even running fast, I'm just terribly unfit. I used to run in high school but haven't attempted it in 15 years. It shows. To those of you who are struggling and persevering, please keep it up. |

SunnySA, I understand... But good for you for starting, just do what you can do for your own fitness to start out, but just do it! We are all here to root you on and help you out.
I didn't get to exercise yesterday, because I felt like crap and I knew I would defeat myself if I ran, so.............even though I still feel crappy, I have my shoes on and am going to go today doing W2D2. I know once I start I will be ok and and will be able to do it. I think the hardest part of anything is just starting!! Tarolee, sounds like you are doing great. Dawn, Did you go to W6? and how did it go? Take care all, and I check back in after my run........... |

![]() I was going to do W6 D1 this morning but I'm dealing with TOM surprising me a little early. So, I'm going to give my body the day off from running to deal with cramps. (TMI sorry ) I might ride the stationary bike if I feel up to it tonight. Just don't want to deal with all that pounding right now. ![]() And then tomorrow I'm going to attempt it. ![]() |

I love my treadmill. I'm not up to hills yet and I swear that is all that is around me.................ugh!I did do my run today W2D2, but.........I couldn't get past the 3rd run, had to walk the rest of the way. I haven't been feeling good and it was a push anyway, but I did it, then lifted for upper body. Hang in there everyone!!! Bethy |

I have been running outside, but most of my normal walks are on hilly roads. I had to change my route, to avoid the multiple hills. I have only one long gradual hill, but it is better then the multiple ones.
I tried to use the treadmill, but I can't get the speed right. What speeds are you using on the treadmill for running???? |

1) Week 3/Day 3
2) Yes (3x) 3) Time 4) Indoors (can't take the heat and humidity) 5) After 3 times on Week 3 I finally feel like I can go to Week 4 ![]() SunnySA - Don't feel bad. When I did Week 1/Day 1 I lasted 14 minutes (including the warm up) and thought my head would explode. I walked the rest of the time and rested the next day. Tried again W1/D2 and made it. Don't lose hope, but don't hurt yourself either. Listen to your body. Repeating weeks and taking it slowly is just fine. DarkSiren - You are an inspiration. That 20min jog on W5/D3 scares me. Actually, the 5min jog in W4 scares me. *sigh*We can do this, people. ![]() ETA: TS1draft - I jog at 4.5 and walk at 3.0. I know that will have to go up as I get higher in the Weeks, but I'll be working on that later. Plus 4.5 is not a good stride for me (I end up bumping into the front of the treadmill) and as the time gets longer, I will have to find my stride and work from there.

Tarolee, I fluxuate on how I feel on the treadmill from 3 - 3.2 mph walking and 4.5 - 5 mph running.
Dawn even though it sucked didn't it feel good when you were done and knew you did it? Congrats! Sunny Be proud that you started, that's the hardest part, just do what your body can handle, I think the biggest thing for me is not to do too much so that I HATE it, but just enough to push myself to feeling that I accomplished something. Good luck we are here for you and YOU CAN DO IT!! Have a great day all! God help me we bought a bowflex extreme 2, I'm going to do weight train in addition to the running. I already know I love to weight train, the running is the challenge! |

body changing
Oh I also wanted to say that starting this program and upping my exercise (I was walking previous to couch to 5K) has helped me lose quicker. Along with drinking my water. I was a (maybe still am) a very slow loser, right after induction I stalled for almost 4 weeks, but I have consistently lost while doing these workouts. THANK GOD!
Yesterday my daughters and I went shopping and I saw some nice pants on clearance I used to wear 18 and knew I could fit into a 16, but I thought I'd just 'try' a 14, since they were nice pants not jeans. GUESS WHAT? I could get the 14's on, buttoned and zipped, They looked tight with my belly roll on top, but not that bad, so I bought 2 pair for the fall, yippee. I just wanted to tell you that exercise even though I'm not losing super fast has changed my body shape. Things are tightening up. I still look gross in the mirror naked. LOL (eeww bad thought), but clothes are feeling different. I know someone told me that before, but I guess I had to see for myself. I'm happy...................... ![]() |

I stubbed my toe yesterday and it is all swollen and purple. We were going to go on a hike last night and had to cancel because all I could do is limp. I haven't exercized in 3 days. I HAVE to do it today. My toe is still sore but I'm giving it a go anyway. I may have to do week 1 over again.
My shapely secrets dvd came today so I'm going to do it on my days off. It only takes 7 minutes. My daughter tried it this morning and said she could feel it in her arms. I need a workout for my arms so that will be good. It says you should lose a size in 14 days. Wouldn't that be great. |

Congrats on the Body Changes Cablegriz!!!
Sorry about the toe Jazlyn hope it's feeling a little better today. Tonight is W6D2 and I really don't think I'll be able to run the full amount but I'm going to give it a try and see how it goes. I'm also thinking about changing programs next week instead of repeating W6....it's called 30 minutes in 3wks from About.com. So, I'll finish building up to my 30 minutes at about the same time the C25K would have been finished. I'll just be going about it a little differently. I'm going to think about it for the rest of the week and make the decision once I've done all the runs for this week. ![]() Last edited by DarkSiren : 06-29-2007 at 07:45 AM. |

Jazlyn Hope your toe is better. Dawn, thanks! and You can Do it!!! I'm going to look into the About.com thing. Has anyone found like a 'perfect' time to run/exercise for best performance? Mine seems to be between 10 - 11 am. I've been up, have energy, (hate mornings) and afternoon I don't do as well have trouble getting through workout. I work from home o |
