W4 D2 done

and I have to say it's the worst one I've had so far.

I was so excited because D1 had gone so well that I think I got a little too full of myself.

I had to walk for around 30 seconds out of each running section today.

And by the time I was done my shins were killing me.

I'm icing them right now and I'll be taking 2 days off before my final W4 run to give them enough time to get better.

I'm really hoping that this doesn't mean I'm going to have to repeat W4 as well....jeez by the time I'm done at this rate it will take me 18wks instead of the 9wks of the program.

At least I'm doing it huh??!!

So glad I found this thread too! I am starting the Couch to 5K today. I plan on doing it Monday/Wed/Friday.

I found the podcasts, cause I almost can't do anything without music LOL. I have been walking, and doing DDR. Now going to up things by starting this.

I'm hoping by the end of summer to 'run' with my husband and daughter and do a 5K.

I'm also hoping that it will get me in shape and help with the OWL.

Going to start today around 10am.

Keep Running Everyone!

I now have a *goal* - I'm running a 5K for women in the Congo at the end of September in NYC - www.runforcongowomen.org

Still on week 2 - getting interrupted by working long hours, but plowing through anyway!

You go girl!

I'm on W3D2 (repeat week) and didn't make it through the second 3min jog. (I guess I shouldn't try to talk to anyone while jogging. )

*sigh* Guess I will have to repeat Week 3 again. But that's okay -- I am sooo NOT looking forward to Week 4.

Hi all,
I made it through week 2. I didn't have any major problems, so should I go on to week 3, or should I feel really good about it and stay a week 2 again? My shins are sore, but they will be no mater what.

I'm assuming if you make it through without having to stop than I am ready????

Good morning!

Did my first day yesterday on the treadmill. Felt really good! (odd for me to say that LOL) Going to plan to do Monday/Wednesday/Friday

Question: Did/Does anyone use the treadmill? I'm doing it on the treadmill to start. I live in a very hilly (mountain side) and know I will be frustrated when trying to stay on pace. Do you suggest doing the treadmill for a couple weeks and increasing or varying incline then moving to outside?
I could also drive to the bottom of the mountain on the flat and walk there.
Suggestions?
Oh, I downloaded those podcasts for the music and pace. Love it!

Thanks.......

Cablegriz- I do mine both on the treadmill and outside. So either is fine....

Today is my final W4 workout.

I'm going to try to continue on to W5 without repeating but if it doesn't feel right then I will go ahead and repeat W4.

My old ankle injury from last summer is starting to complain so I'm definitely going to have to listen to my body.

DarkSiren,

Congrats on finishing W4. How do you feel? Besides the ankle pain? Sorry to hear about that. Best as you said to 'listen to your body'.

I'm getting ready to do W1 D2 today...... feel sluggish today though and I'm afraid if I go today and don't do as well as I did the first day that I'll pysche myself out.....any suggestions? I started Friday, but would like to get on the Mon/Wed/Fri schedule, I may just wait till tomorrow to do day 2

Have a great day!

Hey Gang!

I'm starting today and just finished Day One of Week One. Your thread was so motivating and I've always loved running (when I was younger) so I thought I'd work through this and try to train for a marathon before I turned 45. That gives me a full year.

1) What week/day are you on? Week One, Day One
2) Are you repeating a week? No, just starting
3) Are you running for time or distance? Time
4) Are you running indoors or out? Today, indoors -- each time it may vary
5) How do you feel? Whew! It wore me out, but I feel fabulous!

Thanks!!

I feel really proud of myself for accomplishing it even though it was super tough for me this week. I mean it really kicked my booty.

I wrapped my ankle for the last run and although it complained a little it wasn't super bad and I'm going to continue on with W5 on Tuesday.

I've learned so far that my first workout of the week is always wonderful. I feel like Super Woman.

The second workout is usually weeker and I really have to kick myself to get it done.

The third is better than the second but not as good as the first. So, I have to make sure that I don't let it psych me out either and just continue on.

If for some reason you progress to the next week and you still feel like you need to walk a little more than it calls for then do it. But also try not to go too easy on yourself because it's also about pushing yourself to go a little further than you "think" you can go. Sometimes you'll be amazed once the workout is over at just how far you've come.

I did repeat weeks 1 thru 3 just to be sure I didn't push myself too hard because I'm still very large. I feel strong enough now to continue on with the rest of the program without repeating. But I will continue to listen to my body and if it says slow down then I will.

Now, that I've written a novel I guess I will get off here and try to get some work done.

Later!!

Thanks Dawn, great advise.

Today I started W3D1. Boy was that tough. I made it without stopping, but it is soooo hot. I ran on the treadmill to stay cooler. Still feel good after the run.

Dawn,

Thats awesome. And thanks for the great advice on a lot of fronts.
Listening to my body, push myself, but still don't do more than I can handle.

Hope your ankle gets better soon.

I started on Friday and was going to go yesterday, but I felt like lead, felt I had water weight, and new if I ran I would feel like crap and I really want this program to work with me. So I waited till today and going to get myself on a Monday/Wed/Friday schedule. TOM happened overnight so that's why I felt like crap yesterday

Today when I did W1D2 I did feel good. Got through it and feel great now!!

Question to anyone: I am starting on the treadmill, and it count my carbs used. It says I used like 25.5 carbs for the 30 min walk/run. I'm only eating 20 max carbs a day. Do any of you up the carbs since exercising or is it ok to remain in negative carbs, as long as you are drinking water and eating clean?

Thanks, so much and I love this thread!!!

Have a great day.

Bethy

Had to postpone my workout for today.

Evidently I wrenched my knee at some point. I'd noticed it was stiff the last two days but wasn't in serious pain.

But when I went to put on my workout clothes my DH pointed out that I had swelling.

So, I'm staying off it for the rest of the day and icing it.

Then tomorrow I'll play it by ear and see how it goes. I may wrap it and still try or give it one more day of rest...... Don't want to push it too hard and end up having to quit completely. Not when I've come this far.

Hope everyone else is doing great so far this week!!

W3D2, was really good. I had a small amount of shin pain, but was consously jogging to hit heels first, not toes. I'm hoping form is my main problem with the shin splints. anyway, everything is good!!

W1D3, yeah! I didn't feel like I was going to do good before I started, felt sluggish, but......I could up pace for the running parts, and a tinsy push on the walking part. So I did better then I thought I would.

I was sweating more today and felt like I really worked out. Feels good. Still have my warm heated feeling after my shower, and feel really relaxed. I kinda like it. Did I say that? LOL

I'm going to repeat week one on Friday so I can stay on Mon/Wed/Fri schedule.

W2D2 - had to do it strangely modified (because of moving house and various things, I was running around in circles in my own flat), but I hope it still counts! Now off to the pub - D'oh!

Hi everyone
I tried this once before at the first of the year but I hurt my knees right away. I have been taking glucosamine and I'm stronger now so I'm giving it another go. I didn't see anything about a cool down on the chart so I walked for 5 minutes after too. I'm wondering what everyon
