Thanks, Cindy! My cousin and her friend did it with me, we're all about the same level. We're looking for another one next month.
Welcome, God's Beloved! The Couch to 5K outline is at http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml. I think somewhere in this thread there's also a link to the podcasts. If you have an MP3 player or iPod, they make it a lot easier to keep time when you're not doing it on a treadmill. |

Hey Everyone!!
![]() I'm sorry I haven't updated recently. ![]() I'm on W3D1 repeat tomorrow. ![]() I've done each week twice so technically this starts my 6th week at it. ![]() I'd been taking it slow in the beginning due to a previous ankle issue but there seems to be no problems now. ![]() So, I'm going to step it up and try continue without repeating anymore weeks. ![]() Keep your fingers crossed for me. ![]() |

Hi I'm new
1) What week/day are you on? w1-d1 2) Are you repeating a week? nope, first day 3) Are you running for time or distance? time first, distance once I can handle it. 4) Are you running indoors or out? today inside, but if weather is ok, it will be outside with the kids and dog. 5) How do you feel? I feel great, I should be in bed right now, but I have a little extra energy. I really hope I can stick to this. I may not be able to stick with it do to shin splints. They didn't bother me today. But does anyone have suggestions on getting rid of them? ![]()

Okay... Day 1 Week 1 done. Mostly... I see me doing Week 1 next week too
but That's cool... I'm getting out there and that's all that matters to me currently. I did feel like I had to bowling balls attached to my butt that bounced up and down alot when I was running.I was not able to quite finish the entire podcast. I got through the warm up and 3 of the runs before I crapped out. I got through 14 mins. Of course it didn't help that I had trouble converting the m4a file to mp3 for my lil mp3 player. I found a converter online and then downloaded it only to find out it's trial software and will only convert half of your file for you. It's $23 bucks to get the other half converted. I dig the music though. It's kinda trance/techno/house kinda stuff I used to listen to alot. All in all, I call it a success for today.

![]() I just finished a half Marathon, Rock and Roll in San Diego on Sunday, and I am saying something I NEVER thought I would.....I want to be a runner! I walked it in 3 hours and 22 minutes (go me!) One mile was ran but my poor toes, I have one toe nail that looks a bit dark pink. I've trained with Team in Training for 19 weeks now (again Go Me!) but that will end this weekend. I am teaming up with some of my San Diego peeps to do the San Jose R&R on October. A few of them are run-walkers and while I don't think I'll run a half marathon this year I want the speed option. I also love what endurance training is doing for my legs and slowly the rest of my body. I have not lost weight, in fact I gained 4 pounds, but I feel pretty good. I need to let my poor toe heal and as soon as that looks good (next week?) I'll start. Until then I'll come and hang with you guys from time to time. Rock On!

Tarolee- Thanks a ton! I am a newb with podcasts and whatnot. I totally appreciate the heads-up.
Roo- That's awesome! Tiggerr- That's sounds awesome! Marathons are still a far far away dream for me but I love hearing about them. Well, an hour after my "run" I was very much glad tomorrow is a Callanetics day. Now, I am excited and more determined to do the whole program Thursday. ![]() I do need new shoes. I have walking shoes currently. |

Ms
I planned on starting my week 1 this week also. Unfortunatly, the weather didn't co-operate so I did my best to follow the podcast on my elliptical.
I can usually go for 40 min with no prob and the 30 minutes today was a really good workout!! I hope tomorrow's weather is good because I want to see what I can really do since I know that really running is a heck of alot harder than "running" on the elliptical. |

Hi, I am on w1d2 and today I did it outside, not on the treadmill. What a differance that makes. The hills are a killer. I did the whole podcast, and feel great. I'm really going to try to stick with it.

Hello All!!
Just poppin in after finishing W3 D2. I did it inside today because I was too wimpy to go out in the heat. ![]() I don't normally like to run days back to back but I ended up being too tired yesterday to do the program. ![]() But I got it done today and plan on doing D3 tomorrow. ![]() 1) What week/day are you on?W3 D2 just completed.... tomorrow is D3 2) Are you repeating a week? This week has been a repeat of W3 3) Are you running for time or distance? Right now is for time 4) Are you running indoors or out?today was inside tomorrow will be outside with the family 5) How do you feel? I'm so stoked and ready to move on to W4 on Tuesday. I'm now actually having to rein myself in to keep from over doing it. I don't anticipate having to repeat W4 and I'm really excited about that.

Hi, completed week 1 and shins are a little sore. I am going to start week 2 on Monday. I think I may try to do it on the treadmill, just to give my shins a little more cusion. I feel good otherwise.

Morning Everyone!!
![]() W3 is completed and I'm officially on W4 now. Took the family out to the beach yesterday and did the running portion on the hard sand near the water and did the walking portion on the soft sand. OMG did I feel it in my calfs and thighs the rest of the day but I absolutely LOVED that feeling. I know.....I'm a total masochist. ![]() Do any of the long timers ever have trouble trying to keep from running every day?? Does anyone run every day with maybe one day off like a Sunday?? I find when I do my regular walks on off days I'm wanting to break into a run and I really have to try hard to have a more relaxed workout. ![]() Anyway, hope everyones week is starting out great!!! Congrats to all the beginners completing week 1!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm so proud of you!!! ![]() |

I'm still having difficulties with shin splints so I haven't been consistent with my running. We have a big grassy greenbelt in front of our house that isn't too hard on my shins. I'm going to have to incorporate the jogging on that so that I can keep up with it. I'll just modify that Couch to 5K plan to fit. I've been working out hard on the elliptical and walking on the treadmill so hopefully I can run a 5K this year.
