Hi,

I would love to have a buddy. I am a stay at home(but trying to return to the workforce)mom of three preteen/teenagers myself. Single mom on a disability caused by excessive weight. Now that I am losing I am feeling much better and am making more of an effort to get out there.

I too could use a kick in the rear regarding exercise. I have taken out my dining room table (we never eat at it anyhow) and have a treadmill, recumbant bike and stationary bike in its place and probably have used them maybe a total of 3 times in the last month. I just can't get motivated.

I think you need a certain number of posts before you can privately email someone on this site so if you don't mind using this thread pls lets do so.

Anyhow congrats on your previous loss and you ongoing one as well. I have lost 125lbs since Oct/05. I think we are fairly close in weight now>I am 265lbs.

Linda

Hello Linda and Tammy -

I was just going to invite you to a thread that I belong to. We have about 5 or 6 of us that are working this low carb woe. We started out in the pen pal area, but we moved to Low Carb Challenges after the new year. We would love to have you join us if you would like. I have found that having on-line friends to check in with is so nice. So many of my in-life friends are thin, and just have no clue how freaking hard it is! Anyways....most of us are looking to shed 120 to 150 pounds. We are pretty faithful about posting daily, but we all have our missing in action times as well.

Come and check it out!

We are in Low Carb Challenges
Under: A New Year, A New Start, A New Me in 2007

Stay strong ladies - we can do this!!!!

Well things are not that great today for me. My TOM started, my son and I have been bickering all day, and I spilled coffee all over the keyboard so I am using the onscreen one and that is not fun. So I ate offplan and am busy feeling sorry for myself.

Hi I have approx. 80lbs to lose and I was wondering if I could join your group too. I belong to a couple of others but I was looking for one that the people were facing the same challenges I was (girls on others only have last 10lbs or so to lose..)

I've been lc since Feb and lost 20lbs, then about 3 weeks ago i made lc chili and gained 5 lbs and have not been able to lose it. It's driving me crazy.

Do you want to post daily menus and do a weekly weigh in?

Sure anyone is welcome to come join us here for support.
I am not sure how you all want to go about it but I like to post recipes and my meny and exercise for the day. So if you want to do that lets try it and see how it works for us here.
I will begin: my menu for the day is:
Breakfast- 2 poached eggs, 2 slices bacon and coffee
lunch- plate of slice tomatos, cucumbers, black olives and blue chees dressing for dipping and ice tea.
supper tonight is feta chicken, (recipe below)
Ok lets hear from you all now.
__________________________________________________ _______
Feta-Topped Chicken

Makes:4 servings

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1 1/4 lb)
2 tablespoons balsamic vinaigrette dressing
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon seasoned pepper
1 large roma (plum) tomato, cut into 8 slices
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (1 oz)

1. Set oven control to broil. Brush both sides of chicken breasts with dressing. Sprinkle both sides with Italian seasoning and seasoned pepper. Place on rack in broiler pan.
2. Broil with tops 4 inches from heat about 10 minutes, turning once, until juice of chicken is clear when center of thickest part is cut (170°F). Top with tomato and cheese. Broil 2 to 3 minutes longer or until cheese is lightly browned.
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Broil chicken about 15 minutes. Top with tomato and cheese. Broil 1 to 2 minutes longer.

The carbs are low in this recipe, I think they are around 3 carbs per serving...

By the way I am also a stay-at-home mom with a 4 yo boy and a 13 yo daughter.

Oh that sounds good....How many carbs are in balsamic vinaigrette?

B: Leftover 2 cheese steak manticotti
L: 1 c salad w/ mushrooms, a little moz cheese, bacon bits, 2 tsp bacon ranch dressing
D: Not sure yet, kids have soccer and i'll prob run through a fast food and get bunless burger and salad.
S: SF jello (i'm putting this down but I really haven't been eating anything at night.

Please if you see something I am doing wrong please let me know, because I need to know. I haven't lost anything in 3 weeks, actually gained 5lbs.

How can i find out how many carbs im eating? I'm really confused with fitday.

What plan is everyone one? What phase? How much are you trying to lose?

Atkins - phase 2 - like to lose 80lbs

A new first for me yesterday. If I am going to binge normally it is for being frustrated or unhappy but yesterday I binge after everything had calmed down . My kids were happy and content, the chores were done, homework was done and I finally had a few minutes of peace and what do I go and do but eat and eat and eat off plan. What on earth is the matter with me.

Doing my best to stay on plan today and so far so good. Not enough water though.

RubyRed i will see if I can find a carb chart and send it to you.

It looks like you are doing ok to me with the carbs.

I stay at home to because of my health and cannot work anymore but my children are grown adults now so no one here at home but me and the hubby so I can plan our meals without any problem about what I will need to feed children anymore.
We eat lite and healthy these days and not like we use to when we were younger. Its worked for us since yr. 2000.

I probably won't see you all over the weekend because I stay so busy with my hubby, thats the time we take off and just spend time together since he does not work on week-ends. So I will see you on Monday.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END:

Happy Mother's Day to everyone. The best present was I am down to 225, yes it's finally moving in the right direction. I'm not sure if it's the tuna I'm eating or the Low Carb PB that I gave up

Yesterday I had a blast. Went to neighbors for a bbq, my DH went and got us steaks and "Stubbs" steak sauce, less than 1 carb, and multi colored peppers which he marinated in OO, salt and pepper. I came in and I was so surprised I was figuring I would have a plain steak and sneak a salad before we headed over. He actually was thinking of my diet..

Oh yeah he also bought me Michelob Light beer (2.5c), I had 3 oops...and a rum and dt coke...but boy i had fun.

My neighbor also made me brocc and polish sausage..I love how everyone keeps my wol in mind.

Ok today, no one made me breakfast in bed they just let me sleep in which was wonderful.

B: None
L: Sugar free hotdog and spinach salad w/ ch, mush blue cheese dressing
D: roast and sauteed snow peas

Justine, you are doing so good. I am so proud of you. Glad you had a nice mothers day to. I had a good one also, we just stayed home and our daughter came by with the grand kids and we cooked steaks out to. Made a salad from all my lettuce and tomatoes from our garden.
So happy to hear that your hubby is so supportive with your low carb, mine has been with me to, I don't think I could have lost what I have without his help. It takes a good man to do that for his wife.

I have some recipes if you want any, just let me know waht kind you want ok. I am always trying new ones I find in books and magazines, if they are not low carb I just make them into low carb by changing some of the ingredients like leaving out the potatoes and adding cauliflower instead etc.
This has helped me alot to stick with the low carb plan to. I wanted to learn how to cook just ordinary everyday foods and make them healthy and I do it now. I try to stay away from alot of fat though and still watch my calories to and try not to go over 1500 a day on them. Most times I stay under that..

What are some of the things you do to stick to your low carb, anything special? Do you exercise any? I am limited to what exercise I can do but I belong to a group where we do water exercises in the pool and thats fun. I also ride my exercie bike at least three times a week. I have problem with my legs so if I don't do some form of exercise they get stiff on me and hurt.

Are you buying any special clothes for the summer? I got me some new shorts and two pair of capri pants and some of those new cute tops everyone is wearing now and not just buying plain old tee shirts anymore.
Most are sort of l;ower cut in the front that fit under the breast but they are so stylish. I was worried they may be to young looking for me but our daughter says they look great so I am going with her word and trust her....
It just feels good to be able to begin wearing stylish clothes again and not all those old fat loose baggy things I use to wear. I am sure you feel the same way to.

See ya later and be good............

Going back and forth between good days and bad days eating wise. Today so far has been good. Went to my dd spring concert and watched her perform so that was nice. Afterwards she was allowed to come home early with me so we took the long way and walked through the woods to get home.

Mary I would love some of your recipes. I love to try new things.

I really don't do anything to stick to low carb I just have told myself that this is the only thing that has worked for me in the past (I gained on WW and Low Fat/Low Cal). I still have cookies, ice cream and chips in the house for the rest of the gang but I just stay away from them.

My life is pretty stressful right now and I wish I had the time to do a water workout but I am about to take on taking care of my DH 91 yo grandmother who'd dying of cancer and also trying to put together a fundraiser for my daughters girl scout troop (which I also run) and lets just say it isn't going so well. I also haven't started to exercise yet because I use to go to the gym 4x aweek and I gained 30lbs so I got very discouraged. Then I had knee surgery and that brings us to Feb of this year and I started on Atkins to try and lose weight so that I don't have to have the other knee operated on.

I haven't gone down any sizes yet so I really haven't bought any clothes but I have new clothes that I had bought for disney cruise we did in October with the kids so I'm sure they'll probable still fit. I haven't pulled them out to try yet..GULP.

What do you do to keep yourself low carb? How long have you been on your program? How much have you lost?

I have been on low carb since year 2000 and have lost 110 lbs. so far. But still have 50 or so I want to lose so I can meet my goal. It seems these last pounds are harder for me to lose than the first 100 was for some reason.
I don't buy cookies or sweets unless they are low carb or sugar free anymore and I seldom buy those. We have a garden and we eat alot of our own home grown foods, plenty of veggies of all sorts. I just eat healthy these days thats all and watch my portion sizes mostly so i won't over eat. Every once in a while I will eat a potato or som brown rice but not to often with that either. I like steak, chicken and seafood and I eat alot of that with my steamed and grilled veggies mostly.

I will get you some recipes tomorrow and send you ok. If you want you can PM me with your email and I will send you mine to so we can chat more.
See ya tomorrow.

The only days I don't eat breakfest is when I am at home all day as I know that I can get up and get something any time I want. If I am at work or shopping I need to eat first thing because my mind will just continuously be thinking of what to eat and then I go out and buy something I don't need.

Maybe add some lettuce to your roll ups and burger. Do you like tomatoes or onions? They would be good as well.

Well all the water I have been drinking is paying off. Down 3lbs this morning. I know how good it is for me and I do see results but I literally have to gag the stuff down. I could drink a lake full of water with crystal lite but I don't see any results if don't drink just plain water. I have tried just adding a bit of lemon and even apple cider vinegar but I never seem to lose on those days no matter how good my eating was that day.
