Wow! Great job everyone
![]() Shelly- my advice for the race is Don't stand behind the ladies with the strollers! Also, have fun too becuase, that's what its for- fun! I'm sure you will do awesome Laurihill-I believe that the podcasts are one track per run so if you put the shuffle on alphabetical ( I think you can do that) you should be good to go |

just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone, glad to see there's a bunch of new runners! C25K was awesome program for me, definitely helped me going through the down periods when the scale wasn't moving. I'm now training for 10k race at Disney in October.
Keep up the great work everyone! |

Today I did 3.5 miles on both the elliptical/treadmill (combined) in 60 min. I wasn't trying to do the 5k training but ended up doing all that so I figured I would post. I know it's different when using the elliptical but exercise is exercise to me!
I keep saying I'm going to do the jog/walk training outside but I keep going to the gym since it's cooler. The weather is brutal this week... |

Today I did Week 1, Day 2. I had to walk for some of the running parts though. Had a really busy day at work...had Special Olympics today at the school where I work and I did timing for track and field events. Had a nasty headache from being out in the sun all day, but wanted to do day 2. Afterwards, no more headache. Exercise is an amazing thing!

Hi Everyone- I have been excited to be able to join you (I have been waiting for new running shoes to arrive in the mail)! I did w1 d1 today, and am happy to report that it was almost easy thanks to all the strengthening Callanetics that I have been doing. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm on my way to being a runner. I can't believe it. That podcast is a real savior. Without it, I KNOW that I would get really caught up in the timing, and the waiting. With the podcast, I can just tune out until he tells me to change my pace. Its awesome.

OK...W1D3 completed!!! Woo-hoo! This is as far as I've ever gotten with this program...the podcasts are great!!!
I'll start Week 2 on Tuesday or Wednesday...not sure what day yet. I actually look forward to this program. I'm looking forward to being able to do some running outdoors this summer. Just need to find a safe place. I live out in the country and the roads have lots of blind curves on them...not sure I want to do that. I may go up to the high school and run there. Have a great day!

Welcome, Sarah, I totally agree about the podcasts. They really kept me going.
qbu, DarkSiren, Tobi - y'all are doing great! Keep it going Did my 45 minutes this morning in California, I expected it to be a little easier without the hills, humidity, and dog; but it wasn't much different. Flying home early Weds, so next run will be Thursday morning. |

I finished week one today. Everything is going well, and I'm excited to progress. I'll be happy when I am capable of running more than I walk. I cannot believe there will be a time when I can run for 30 minutes straight. I have never done that in my life. I'm anxious to move on to the next podcast. The music has less charm each time I hear it. I hope he uses new music for week 2.

Hey all!
Can I join this group? I haven't been following the specific C25K program; but I have been doing intervals 2-3 times per week. My recent interval is 5 min warm up; 4 intervals of 5 min jogging and 2.5 minutes walking; 5 min cool down. I checked out the Cool Running site and that appears to be at Week 4. I also do MP3 intervals of 1 minute running and 30 seconds walking along with treadmill climbing. Right now, I do all of my jogging/walking on a treadmill.. I hope to do some outside at some point. However since I workout around 5:15-5:30 a.m. I feel safer indoors.

So let's get started!
1) What week/day are you on? I am running 5k's 2) Are you repeating a week? I repeated more than I can count 3) Are you running for time or distance? Distance 4) Are you running indoors or out? Started off indoors on a treadmill, then went to an indoor track, now outdoors 5) How do you feel?[/quote] FABULOUS! I feel younger, I feel PROUD Hi everyone. Just checking in. to those I have not met yet. 5 months later, I am still so happy I found this thread on the BB's! I am running my first actual race on Saturday. I am nervous only because it is my DH's HS reunion and if you have ever seen the MTV show, JA, that is what my DH's friends remind me of. They are a ton of fun, but it will be a late night the night before and I hope I will wake up in time. I have a friend who is supposed to come get me, but she may be asleep as well. Anyway, good luck to everyone! the podcasts are soooo helpful!!!!

Hi, mum22! Great to see you again. I'm running my first 5K in a couple weeks, I'm a little nervous too. I was visiting a friend in California a couple days ago, her 20th reunion is Saturday, she had a couple classmates over while while I was there... one guy runs marathons and another does triathlons. She announced that I'm a runner too, just as I was feeling like gargantu-woman standing next to her 110 lb self. Oh, well, my issue, not hers.
Welcome, Gina! Sounds like you're making your own Couch to 5K. Sarah, I'm sorry to say that although as I recall the music is different for week 2, different doesn't always mean better... but once you get to the longer intervals, it's easier to make your own playlists.

I did my first session of week 2 today. It was a horrible session, my earbuds wouldn't stay in, and my dog was constantly getting in my way. Looking forward to my next session. I am sure it will be better. I'll get some new earphones.

I'm going to have to repeat week 2 as well.
![]() Had the flu all this week so my workouts weren't very strong and I don't feel like I can progress until I'm completely over this. At this rate it's going to take me forever to complete the program. ![]() |

c2k5 week 1
Downloaded the podcasts. Did my first day Saturday. I haven't gotten out of bed and gone to run in over 6 years. Very proud of self.
What I want to know is why eight little minutes of running is so lethal to someone who walks or bikes or yogas pretty much every day. And I think I need new shoes. I have been walking regularly in the shoes I have for about two years. ![]() 1) What week/day are you on? Today is run 2 of week one 2) Are you repeating a week? not yet 3) Are you running for time or distance? time with the podcasts 4) Are you running indoors or out? out 5) How do you feel? hurt the day after, but happy about it

earbuds
Skull Candy makes "smoking buds" which are by far the best earbuds anyone at my house has ever owned. They come with different sized soft rubber fittings. My ears are two different sizes apparently, so this keeps both suckers in. We ordered some online, then I found others at Staples office supply by accident.

I think I am going to repeat week 2. Though week 1 was easy, week 2 has been a real challenge. I cannot believe 30 seconds makes that big of a difference!

Hey, how is everyone doing?
I'm off a day this week, since my first real actual 5K race is Saturday, I'll be running T Th Sat instead of MWF. Also I wanted to sleep in today, and it's getting too warm to run later in the morning. Different podcasts would be great, I've found that the music I run to makes a big difference. Regardless of tempo, I plod along slowly to mellow music and tire quickly, but more aggressive music gets me going at a really good pace. |

Hi all!
1) What week/day are you on? Week 1 Day 1! 2) Are you repeating a week? This is the first week... 3) Are you running for time or distance? Time, so far. I did 5 min w/u and 5 min c/d, so it came to 30min total. 4) Are you running indoors or out? Treadmill 5) How do you feel? I feel good - I was on a bit of an incline, so it started to burn a little towards the end. Also, I'm playing with my MPH when I run...alternating between 5, 5.5, and 6, and having the walk at 3.5. any treadmill folks - what mph did you pick?

Thanks! I think I'll try the 5.5 - I have long legs and at 5mph it's hard to "get into the groove" of breathing and running.
