Bella: I noticed with me that it seemed the closer I got to goal the faster the weight came off... isn't that strange? Normally it's the other way around.

new to 72
I have never tried the original diet. I have tried the new one. I had success on it, but I didnt stay motivated, and now have more to lose. I want to get back on track, so i was wondering if the old one would be better for me. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Gotta
![]() I think the original plan is the way to go! I have lost 33 pounds in 8.5 weeks by staying very true to it- I would suggest getting the book on Amazon or ebay but for now you can follow induction by looking at the first post in this thread which outlines it. Good luck! Bella |

Cheryl, I have a stupid question...did you follow Atkins '72 or your Doctor's plan to take off your initial weight? I copied your diet and read where you only ate on your list, so I'm assuming, you followed the diet you listed? You probably said somewhere but 14 pages later.....
Thanks, Toby Also, would someone mind sharing what they eat out? I'd love a drink suggestion too, something that doesn't include caffeine? Anyone having light beer? Last edited by furkid : 03-16-2007 at 09:18 AM. |

I am waiting for my Atkins 72 and can hardly wait for it to arrive. I got it off Amazon.com
They had quite a few for sale. I have lost on the Atkins 2002 edition from 2003-2006. I just needed a stricter version, so here I am. I got nerve to weigh this morning and realized I had gained back 41 pounds. I am not happy with myself, but I know what I have been doing Today is a new day and I WILL do it this time. I know what to do this time. First off, I have learned I cannot have a taste of the forbidden. Because I can't STOP! I want to make it this time, so keep ontrack and get er dun!!The good news is I still have 53 pound off, so I didn't gain all my weightloss back. Happy Low Carbing! ![]() |

I think its good to know what didnt work before and make the adjustments necessary for success!

I pretty much tried to stick to as close to zero carbs as I could - then when I got closer to goal I added in some veggies. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. I generally had diet coke/rum, scotch/water if I went out to a restaurant. I waited until I reached goal until I indulged in southern comfort manhattan and limited myself to one or two. |

Haven't been around lately
Just thought I'd let you know that I finally had my lower eyelid surgery and lateral eye/brow lift and a full brow lift last Saturday. Went in around 7AM and was home by 2:30PM. Very little pain - but have been sleeping a lot. Needless to say that with my head wrapped - I can't be seen in public ..... gosh I look like a mummy!
Forehead has absolutely no wrinkles and now I have no sagging skin or fat pads under the eyes. I would think in about a week or two most of the swelling should be gone.So I am back in full force ..... and I am sorry I didn't contribute a lot during the last week or so. ![]()

Cheryl, thanks for the info. I hope all is well with the "lift." I'd love one but don't know when I'll get the guts up to do it
![]() What do you think about a regular martini? I don't even know if I'm going to indulge, but I want to be ready if I HAVE to!! Martini is just vermouth and vodka or gin?? Thanks. Toby |

Hi everyone
I hope you don't mind me joining you...this group seems like such a helpful one. I spent the time and read the thread and I have learned so much. I lost about 50 pounds the first time I did Atkins and it was using the new book. But this time around...a little older...a little heavier...it hasn't been dropping off like the first time! That is until I started reading this thread! I started back on the "steak and salad" diet two days ago, using the info you guys have provided. In two days I have lost 2.5 pounds! I had bought the 72 book a couple of years ago when I had seen it in a used book store...and because we have just moved to PA I spent the afternoon yesterday looking through my book boxes...to no avail, and then this morning I found it on the very top of one of the boxes! Whoo Hoo! Thank you my guardian Angel...now if that isn't a sign I should be on this diet! Anyway I hope I haven't intruded I feel like I know you guys already...you're posts are so personable! Thanks for the help. Jayne |

Bella - you are an inspiration!! Good luck Jayne.
ANOTHER question....is anyone eating Sausage?? Bella or Cheryl, or you or did you? I'd like to make one of Linda Sue's recipes, SAUSAGE QUICHE SQUARES - but not sure about the sausage. We've been eating bacon with no problem, but we love sausage! Thanks, Toby |
