Hi Cheryl,
Yea, Im looking at it as 5 pound losses every few weeks. I already had to buy new workout clothes! What I saw with your chart was that even though there were a few times not much came off for a few weeks, that over time the weight continued to drop! So you are a big inspiration ![]() HUGS! Bella |

Cherly or anyone who can answer. Today is day 3 and I feel weak. Is that normal? I have just getting over a bad cold so that might have something to do with it. But I would like to get back to exercising. Weigh in is in the morn. Cant wait. Thanks. And yes, I drink lots of water and fluids.

I had a really low energy week during my 5th week and my dh suggested maybe I was detoxing...Im not sure if that was true, but now I feel fine.
I also take vitamins- would that be helpful? Bella |

Raptureready: It is normal to feel like crap for a few days to a week after starting induction. It generally lasts 3 days for me but when I am in ketosis - I get sick to my stomach - have no appetite.
Bella: I'm glad you are doing the 5# increments. Yes I agree - there were days and a weeks where I lost nothing or just a few pounds, but collectively it still came off. Keep a spreadsheet - you won't believe how often you will refer to it. Everyone - KUTGW ...... summer is right around the corner! |

I have only been on A 72 for four days, today being the beginning of day 4. I have lost a total of 5 pounds. (today is my official weigh in day) I am so thrilled. I dont care if it is only water. Its the first time I ever lost that much weight at one time. Now I know why I felt so yucky. Thanks Cheryl and everyone. last week weight: 148.4 : this weeks 143.4 !!!!! |

Good morning!
Today starts week 7 for me and I am down 26 pounds. Wow. I couldnt ask for better results! Cheryl, I printed out your spreadsheet and also made one for me! I do refer to it often ![]() Sheila, WTG! I think it really helps to have short term goals like joining a challenge group or 5 pounds per goal. That way you can keep focused and not become discouraged. I participate in several online groups and love em! Have a great day everyone! Bella

Newbie
Hi Everyone,
I apologize in advance for the long email. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Mary - 25 and started off at about 187lbs. I tried Atkins (the new diet revolution) a couple of years and I lost a lot of weight. I don't really like the scale, so I didn't really monitor myself - but I just shrank and some people couldn't believe their eyes. Especially Atkins bashers - anyway, this time around, when I began late January, I noticed that the weight was not coming off as quickly although I was much more strict. I even stopped using all the Atkins products (bars, mixes..etc.) The last time I checked, which was about 10 days ago, I had lost 10lbs after 3.5 weeks - but have chosen to stay off the scales since then because TOM was approaching and I didn't want to give myself a heart attack if I had "gained" Well, today TOM finally showed up (he was late) so I am going to wait until next Wednesday (my weigh in day) to see if I've lost more weight. grr..I better! On the (new) Atkins Induction, I've been eating things like: Chicken ceasar salads (sans croutans) House salads with italian dressing Bacon, Eggs (not often - not a big fan) Chicken Different Meats, including steaks, kabobs, lamb...etc Stir-fry vegetables (mostly broccoli with a tad of onion and celery) Deep fried (unbreaded) chicken wings Taco salads Cheese strings (about 2/day)...or some wax cheese (Asiago) or aged Cheddar. Avocado (every other day a small one) Shellfish (shrimp and muscles) Sour Cream SF Jello SF Gum (no candy) Coffee / herbal tea with 1 sweetner and a drop of cream Diet Cream Soda Now - it's been 3 days, but I've finally completed reading all your posts on this thread and I have to say - on the days I used to follow what I didn't realize was the '72 plan, I felt much better. So, I've decided that I will adopt this version instead. Although cutting out the veggies will be hard because it has helped me thus far, I am more interested in losing the weight than eating the broccoli. I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but would you clairify a few things for me again? This is what I have understoond so far: 1 - All protein allowed: does not have to be lean and can be cooked with oil 2 - Cheese - should be the kind with wax around it...Therefore no cheese strings or parmesan allowed - even if the carb count is 1??? (This point is extremely important for me to understand because I enjoy Chicken parmesan a lot and was wondering if I should cut that out) 3 - No veggies of any kind (at first) except the 2 allowed salads per day. (Also another important one for me) 4 - Sour cream/Heavy Cream to the amount allowed 5 - SF Jello and Gum allowed 6 - I eat out a lot, so, is non-breaded protein from restaurants allowed as well as long as its not cooked in a sugary sauce? 7- I love my avocados, but those have to go too, right? I think that's all for now. Again, I'm soo sorry for the long email..I had questions along the way while reading your posts - but thought it wise to leave it all to be answered at once. I am so proud of you all - in particular Cheryl, Bella, and AmandaJean. You 3 have been real inspirations to me - and I too know that I can do it too!! I have about 40 more pounds to go - and would love to get them off before the summer. Love, Mary

1 - All protein allowed: does not have to be lean and can be cooked with oil - CORRECT!!!!
2 - Cheese - should be the kind with wax around it...Therefore no cheese strings or parmesan allowed - even if the carb count is 1??? (This point is extremely important for me to understand because I enjoy Chicken parmesan a lot and was wondering if I should cut that out) I USED PARMESAN CHEESE ALL THE TIME AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH WEIGHT LOSS. 3 - No veggies of any kind (at first) except the 2 allowed salads per day. (Also another important one for me) I DIDN'T EAT VEGGIES UNTIL I GOT CLOSER TO GOAL. 4 - Sour cream/Heavy Cream to the amount allowed OK 5 - SF Jello and Gum allowed OK 6 - I eat out a lot, so, is non-breaded protein from restaurants allowed as well as long as its not cooked in a sugary sauce? I GENERALLY EAT HAMBURGERS/STEAK/PORK (non breaded) 7- I love my avocados, but those have to go too, right? NOPE until you get real close to goal

Hi Cheryl,
Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. I know my post must have been a lot...I knew avocados were too good to be true....I'll have to wait until I get closer to goal then...sigh At least its good to know that I don't have to worry about trimming all the fat in order for my protein to be lean...that little bit makes it taste better. Any ideas about tomato sauce? or is that off limits too because its made from "tomato" ? Now for all the ladies - Do you notice that TOM is extremely heavy when doing whatever version of Atkins? I have never before experienced this much in my life - and it worried me a bit, but figured since this is just the first month - my body is just adjusting. Thanks again !! |

Hey Yolande,
No - I don't think she meant that you can eat the avocados. I too at first had to re-read the statement as she answered "Nope" to "but those have to go too, right?" She really means, NOPE! THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED!! I know its a bummer. I wonder if sugar free Ketchup and Soy Sauce are allowed ![]() |

Hi, New here (just found you guys yesterday) and I was wondering if I can have beef sticks (0 carbs) cream cheese with splenda and Da Vinci 0 carb syrup, heavy cream with spenda, cheddar cheese, and sugar free jello? Will these throw off ketosis? Do I need the strips to check that daily? Can I eat too much on the woe? This is my 5th day on induction, but I have had the foods listed above with other meats and some squash and asparagus. I am wondering what you think. Thanks, Sue
I thought I would post this here too. Is the 1973 copy the same book? |

I think Cheryl mentioned no cream cheese/cheddar cheese, or veggies (except the allowed salad) until you get closer to goal. Cheryl, would you like to comment? |
