hi ladies!
i wanted to post a quick update...i've been struggling a bit these last few days getting enough food. i still get very hungry and i think that's b/c i'm working out quite a bit more than i was before. i really want to take care of my body this go around so i've been thinking about s lowly increasing my cals bit by bit until i reach something around the 1700-1800 mark. here are my meals from yesterday and today: the only thing i have added in a bit (which i know are slightly higher in carbs b ut help with cals is 1/2 an avocado) i don't plan to have these every day but darn are they good! Sun: B: 2 eggs, tbsp of goat cheese S: slice of cheddar, tea w/ 1tbsp of cream L: mix of natural salami, 1/2 avocado w/ bit of olive oil w/spices D: gorgeous rib eye steak 5.5 oz, small salad on side w/ vinegarette Mon: B: ran out w/out my food! so it was tea w/ cream S: hard boiled egg, 3/4 oz. of cheddar L: salad w/ natural salami, 1/2 avocado barely any dressing (tasted off!) D: getting rotisserie chicken so a whole chicken leg w/ small salad How are things looking w/ these menus? I don't feel any difference yet in clothes which is frustrating...I am such an instant gratification girl! i want my pants falling off immediately! Everyone seems to be doing great! Bella, awsome on the flax! i might add that next week or the week after! Take care! BBL

Im having a rough time with the constipation issue
Saturday I took 4 tablespoons of flax seed (with my salads) as well as having cooked spinach for more fiber. I think I also had a small glass of psyllium that day too. So Sunday a.m. was a success in that department! But then Sunday afternoon I had to work, so I didnt do any fiber supplements and by today Im back to plugged plumbing. Today I used 2T of the flax, dranks LOTS of water, also drank hot water with lemon (which helps my dh), and may try the psyllium before bedtime. I am having GREAT success with my woe, having lost 13 lbs. in 2 weeks! But this is so much focus on fiber and bathroom stuff (which I am not used to at all) that it's really getting me down. Help! Bella

Can I ask, how much water are you drinking? You are doing so well, and I know our stats are close... I hope that this week yields some results for me. I have started taking flax, as you suggested (1 tablespoon a day) and haven't seen results, so I might up that to 2 tablespoons. I am being very strict with myself, but drinking 2 litres of water/day, which works out to be 67 oz. I guess I should be drinking closer to 3 litres, but I might have to work up to that. I don't like having to pee ALL the time. |

![]() I would take 2 of the flaxseed, and if you need to add psyllium which you can take as a fiber pill (Im checking into that now). Stay strong!! Bella |

Well the big difference that I know of is the layout or structure, but not really the foods. With the old atkins you start out with basically no carbs then add them back in 5 carb increments each week, only if you continue ketosis. With the new atkins you start at around 20 carbs then add them back, again only if you are lossing weight. The new atkins is more livberal with your food choices to start with, but from my personal experience you lose weight more effectively with the original atkins (better appetitie control, easier to get into and stay in ketosis) With both I feel it is VERY important to take a good vitamin and mineral supplement.
Yestarday while I was waiting for my membership to be approved I read a thread with 72 recipes only, I copied down quite a few, and the breakfast custard was one. Today I tried a variation of it that was freakin awesome. THe original recipe is: 4 eggs 1/4 C cream 1/4 C water 1/2 C Davinci syrup made w/Splenda (any flavor that sounds good) dash of salt cinnamon to taste Whirl in blender and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes till set. Now this one was Delish! my mom and I got to talking though(She's doing this with me) and we decided to try a reved up version. I replaced the water with 1/4 cup strong coffee. and used Torani White Chocolate syrup w/ Splenda. I topped it with cinnamon and nutmeg. It took about 3 minutes longer to set in the oven, but OMGoodness! If I wasn't trying very hard to stick with the limit of 1T cream day I would be eating this for desert tonight too. |

And the other primary difference is that the "new" Atkins promotes the use of faux foods such as their protein bars and shakes. When I use them, I lose weight much more slowly than when I follow the original basic plan which
essentially is whole foods. Also, when Im eating the bars I feel my addiction to sugar never really goes away, which is really one of the points isnt it? I would highly suggest ordering the original book- you can get it on Amazon and its the 1972 version. Best wishes! Bella |

Looking for the 1972 book?
If anyone knows of any dusty thrift stores (you know the kind, run by little old ladies and full of books) I know you can find a copy there. I got mine last week for 15 cents and there were three other copies. If anyone can't find one let me know and I'll look out for a cheap copy to send you.

I know I've been missing in action. Tuesday around 11AM went over to my Mother's villa (6 miles away) to take her to the doctor. She was laying on the floor next to opened sliding glass doors - 30 degrees the night before. She had layed for 17 hours in a cotton nightgown on the floor from 6:30PM the night before. I called 911 - they took her to the hospital only to discover that she fractured her right hip. Grrrr! She is 83 years old and had her left hip replaced two years ago - and the recovery was long. So on Tuesday got her to the hospital and they did surgery on Wednesday around 5:30PM. She is still in the hospital and will be moved to a rehab place probably on Saturday for recovery. I then spent Wednesday afternoon cleaning out her refrigerator - doing her wash and going through her mail. I've had my hands full for the last few days. I didn't even go to work on Wednesday. Now my thought is that I can use her as an excuse for not going to work for two weeks - and schedule my browlift sometime this month. I will have to drive her to outpatient rehab - but I can sit in the car or have my husband take her. I'm a Gemini and my mind never stops ..... tee hee.How is the '72 coming along for you. I wanted to know how much more weight you've lost and all the rest of you that are following it. Much love - C

Good morning everyone!
Cheryl, I woke up thinking that maybe you had some kind of hospital event and guess that was right....Im so sorry, but it sounds like the two weeks off will be a good thing! I hope your mother recovers well. Amanda, great news! 5 pounds down! I am on day 18 and have lost 15 pounds. I am really happy, I finally am getting my little constipation problem under control with 2 Omega 3/flax oil capsules a day, and a small dose of MoM at night. I also added more veggies this week with fiber including some avocado last night (yummy) and cooked spinach another night. On a sad note, a close friend lost her husband yesterday to alcoholism. He was only 64. Very sad. It reminded me of how good it is that I stopped drinking even though I wasnt a big consumer, I did drink a couple glasses of wine each night which really stalled out any weight loss. This time it is SO different! Big congrats to everyone! Bella |

Thanks, Cheryl.
I do feel great already; my mood has lifted, I feel happy and energetic all the time. I've been following the plan that you posted on this thread and it's taped to my fridge. It's so easy to follow! I have been writing daily in my online journal and find that really helps. I've made my new goal date April 30th (my one-year anniversary with my bf) As long as I lose 15 pounds a month I can do it! Thinking of you ... I heard about the severe weather in Florida. |

Cheryl, Did you stick to Kimkins for most of your loss period? I wonder if that is the difference between 15 and 25 a month?

Pretty much I just ate protein and a small salad until I lost the majority of the weight - and then I added back in some veggies. That might have made the difference. I didn't even have olives or pickles - and no diet candy. I did however have some SF gum.
