Uhhh, dog walking? Oh THAT dog walking... Nope. I haven't. That's supposed to be my main cardio too. Bad me. When I do walk, I go around our neighborhood which has significant hills. I will try the rowing machine today.

Husband is doing OK so far. His sister was nice enough not to ply him with verboten foods and made him an omelet when he stopped by to visit yesterday.

How are you handling feeding the rest of the non-LC family?

Thanks. You guys are great.

It's hard feeding my family when doing low carb. I end up cooking for them and eating something different. I keep a bag of turkey meatballs handy. They are only 2 carbs per three meatballs. I also keep tilapia fish on hand. When I can't eat what everyone else is eating, I drag one of those things out and make a vegetable to go with it.

So what do you guys do for snacks? I'm tired of cheese sticks. I already eat too many eggs. I've been eating radishes, but I'm pretty tired of those too.

Carolyn, don't beat yourself up over the pork rinds. When we first started our group in the study, one of the girls had a similar story. I ate cookies over Christmas. I felt so bad after I did. I'm glad you have a friend to inspire you and to hold you accountable. The study I'm in is the brick over my head that I needed to get started on this in the first place. It has sure helped. I hope I can stick with it.

So do you both live out of the City? I used to live in suburbia, but things have changed since we bought our house and its now really right in the middle of the City. My kids went to the biggest high school in the state. I'm fortunate in that classes like you want to take Suji, are readily available at just about any time at the community centers, through the parks bureau or other outlets. My daughter is getting married in July so my project now is putting together a scrapbook of her life. It's a big project. I have saved stuff from the time she was born. The biggest issue is going through all of it, deciding what I'm going to use and organizing it. Then the fun crafty decorative stuff starts. One step at a time. When I'm done, I want to scan it and put it on a DVD or CD so I have a copy too.

I hope to get some exercise in today at lunch, but my son is performing in a high school band concert tonight, so I can't make it to the gym. I plan to go tomorrow for sure.

Have a fabulous day.

You know, I don't really do snacks. If desperate I have those packages of salami from BJs (0 carb) and eat a few of those. I haven't had much of any cheese on this diet either. Basically I read the carbs and if I can hardly have more than a teeny bit before the carbs jump too high, I avoid it.

I don't remember how long we were on INduction last time I was seriously on Atkins, but we did eat a lot of pork rinds. I was working and in grad school at the time and my husband was working long hours/commute. We were looking for whatever was easy to take along and eat on the run. We still lost. I think the cardinal rule is just don't pound 'em down. Everything in moderation.

Well, haha, they call this a "City". It's the county seat. Third time I've lived in the county seat too. It's out in the country though and more of a large town with a business park. THe place we moved from (Northern Virginia) was growing way too fast--every bit of rural space was being swallowed up by development. NO THANKS!!!

Are you excited about the wedding? My DS just broke off with his GF of 3 years. It was inevitable--different states and different places in their devlopment. (She was further along than he.) Ithink his recent rebound is also on the rocks...

I guess I'll go read my book group selection and figure out what other minor exercise I ought to do.

Wedding and other stuff

Yes, the wedding should be fun. How much weight can I lose before then? Who knows. Funny thing, my 30-year high school reunion is the Friday after the wedding. Two reasons to lose weight right? Not really. It doesn't matter what I look like for either event. I'm doing this to get healthy. My family history is a strong indicator that disaster is closer than I think.

Over the Christmas break, we went cake tasting (yes, I tasted cake too, but just tasted) and we bought the wedding dress. It's getting so close. I know July will be here before I know it.

I always thought it would be fun to live in a small town or city. My DH and I are planning to move as soon as my son graduates from high school. I will stay close enough to the city to maintain my job. Since I won't have little ones to be concerned with I won't mind the commute as much. I'm pretty lucky now in that when traffic is light, I can get to work in about 10 minutes.

I brought my gym membership card today and my bag is still in my car. We had a firm lunch today, so I didn't get to go walking so I'm definitely hitting the gym.

I'm glad it's Friday. Have a great weekend.

Oh, what my husband wouldn't give for THAT commute. It seems almost impossible to avoid a harsh commute in the greater DC area. Even if you are close in, the traffic is bumper to bumper and a distance of 5 miles can take 30 minutes. If you use the metro or train--there are times neither are reliable or else you still have a long ways to commute--you just aren't driving. Out in the country, it's a long distance to drive, but scenic. It takes DH 50 minutes one way on a good day.

I'm right along with you on averting disaster. I'm so afraid of developing diabetes and some sort of heart/circulatory issue thing. Helping my body not have to work so hard to get nutrients to the areas that count (not coddling the fat cells!) is high on my motivations list!

Guess I'll roast a chicken tonight and figure out what to do from that point. Oh gee, guess it will be chicken and salad. What else??!

Talk to you later,

Suji

Another weekend gone

Hi Suji: I thought I would check in. I have to do some work from home tonight, so of course, I checked in first. Ha Ha, guess what we are having for dinner, roasted chicken and salad. I had already put it in the oven before I read your post. What a coincidence.

Yea I guess we are really spoiled with the commute to and from. Of course, the commute for my DH varies from job to job.

I did hit the gym Friday night, and met my friend to walk at 7:30 am Sat and today. I feel great today and wished I had time to go to the gym as well, but not so. I need to get this project done before I go to bed tonight so I've got to get busy.

Talk to you later.

I lost 12 lbs. in spite of the Pork Rind Binge!

Good Evening Leslie and Suji.
I have not been on for a few days the storms knocked out our internet connection for a few days. So I haven't been able to get on the boards. Leslie, I live in a rural area, literally in the middle of nowhere. When my kids are out of the house I would like to move into town but I don't know that DH will ever agree to it. I don't really have anything that I snack on. As you know I ate an entire family sized bag of pork rinds in the car one night so for now I am trying to stay away from snacks. Maybe later I will try snacking again.

Suji I am glad to hear that you are looking for new things to try. I wish that you were closer because I am really interested in Fiber Arts. My mother was a homemaking teacher and I learned early to sew, quilt, cross stitch, etc... My favorite pastime is definitely sewing though. I love it, although I don't seem to find the time to do it nearly often enough. I also love flower arranging. I make arrangements for friends and family weddings, showers, special events, and mums for homecoming. There is a really great florist school in Austin and I am considering enrolling there. At this point I think that I would really like to do that for a living. I have to find something to do with my time and I think that it would be wonderful to be surrounded by flowers all day.

Well, DH is finally on board and committed to the LC program. We are in competition with each other to see who can lose the most. Of course he will most likely lose faster because he always does. I don't mind as long as he is in it with me. Okay, I have lost 12lbs so far and I am starting to feel the difference, so I am on my way! Thanks for the tip about Linda Sue's Website, I have found some really great recipes there that will make this easier than just having chicken and frozen vegetables every meal.

What kind of scales are you using? Mine is worn out and I want a new one, but don't know what to buy. I have started the WATP video, and The Biggest Loser Workout, so maybe the numbers on the scale will be dropping faster.

Have a good night,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn-good to hear from you. (read you) :-) Hi Leslie!

I am feeling under the weather since yesterday afternoon--swollen tonsils and wincing when swallowing. I think my oldest son passed something to me as he has been somewhat unwell himself--too much work. Hard to believe I'd catch anything as I hardly see him except in passing. Phooey.

Yes, Carolyn. I wish you were too since I would dearly love to watch and learn from someone who knows what the heck they are doing!! I have done a small amount of sewing. Actually, growing up, most of my clothes were handsewn by my Grandma as I was too tall for the off the rack clothing (waists too high, sleeves and pant hems too short). I have collected some 40's and 50's patterns which I fantasize I will redraw in my size...

I, for the first time, tried my hand at arranging fake flowers for my kitchen display bar which you can see a part of to the right in my avatar pic. I had some fun doing that and figure I will change that out seasonally. I admire people who have a sense of how things go together as I struggle with it so.

My DH is doing well though I don't know if he's lost anything yet. Again, I have to watch that man like a hawk when it comes to portion control!!! He emptied like 1/2 a bag of salad onto his plate yesterday with liberal heaps of dressing. (Rolling eyes and mouth open...) This is what I get when I let him serve himself.

I don't know what kind of scales. They are not digital. Honestly, I hardly ever use scales. I go by whether something fits or not. Of course if what you wear are sweat pants, it can be easy to fool yourself in that regard like I did for so long....

Leslie, good on you for exercising. I wrote on a different thread that as far as exercise goes, I 'd rather chop wood. Did either of you exercise purposefully when you were younger? The craze for it began in the late 70's around when I was an instructor at a health club in RI. Prior to that--I hadn't heard of it. You did sports. You worked in the garden or helped on a farm or else had vigorous job reqs. Life has certainly changed a lot for us to have to work purposefully so hard to "Stay in shape".

Whooo Whee

Congrats Carolyn on your 12 lb weight loss!!!!!! Thats absolutely awesome. What an encouragement to keep going. Whenever I see a pound or two drop, I get so psyched.

Suji, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. We had something go through our house in early December. It knocked me on my butt for a couple of days and left me with a stuffy nose for about 4 weeks. I hope your's goes away soon.

Flower arranging, you guys are great. I touch a flower, plastic or real and it dies. I have no sense of symmetry or artistic flair. I do like to sew though, when I get the chance. I need to make new curtains for my son's bedroom. He's 15 and has outgrown the Disney pattern. Imagine that. Actually I took them down quite some time ago and just haven't gotten around to making new ones. He begged me yesterday, so I will give it a shot. I've done it before and it's just straight lines and since he doesn't want lace or frills, no problem, right?

As for my scale, I weigh in at group once a week. Tomorrow is the day. It's this giant digital thing that you find in doctor's offices. It's so ominous. I also have a scale at home that I prefer. It is the dial kind. It has a really big face on it. I find that the larger the spread in numbers, the more accurate it is. It compares quite accurately to the monster digital scale at group. I used to have a digital scale at home but it was so finicky that I couldn't trust it from one day to the next.

As for exercise, I'm finding it hard to work on muscle toning. I need to get a video or something. The walking is great and the gym is great, but the gym is crowded and the weights are hard to get to on a regular basis. I found an eight-minute workout in Woman's Day about a year ago. I'm going to see if I can find it again. It's all based on weights (small ones, 2 lb, 3 lb and 5 lb) and I can do it every morning before work.

Keep up the good work both of you. I so want my DH to get back on board. He just doesn't like the low carb lifestyle. MNMNMN.

Have a great day.

Hi Guys, I can't post a weight loss for this week. It may be my temporary illness is holding water in the tissues--don't know. Oh well. I'm still not feeling well today, so I guess I'll lie down and read my book club tome. I do not feel at all like expending energy!

The delivery men just installed my second refrigerator. Hurray! No more ice chests for parties and large scale fruit and veggies from the farmers market won't be frozen (What my main frig does when overloaded).

Leslie, I'd like to get new curtains for my rooms too. I have all the original 1950's curtains and drapes still hanging. THe LR and DR are daunting though. There are so many yards of fabric since they are mega-huge view windows. I think just one side was over 8 yards for draw curtains. Whew! ANd if I change them, the rest of the room (rug, paint) will have to be done as well. Nothing seems to be simple in this house when it comes to interior decorating.

Carolyn, I was remiss in not congratulating you too. That is a wonderful loss to report. :-)

TTFN,
Suji

Hey Girls!
I have been looking for support for livin the lowcarb WOL and found your group. I know you all have been together for a while now, but is there room for one more ? I have a lot in common with all of you and would love to be a part of your group. I could really use the friendship and support. I am starting back on Atkins after a long long stall. It has been frustrating and its had to stay motivated. If you all decide that one more is too many, I'll certainly understand. Please let me know.
Good Luck to all of you! I hope you all reach your goals in 2007!
Warmly, Sherry

Hi Psycho, I feel weird writing that name in a friendly way...
We actually are a relatively recent group, so feel free to come aboard. Oops--I see you signed , "Sherry". Hi Sherry!
(Last stall I had was a week long. I guess this is another one so you're in similar company.)

So, please tell us a little about yourself and what you read that said: "Hey! I identify!"

I am feeling 70% better today. Whew!

So, I was talking on the phone with my sister (43) and kind of bemoaning the fact that I was ill and the scales didn't move and my youngest was being a grouch...and she said "Well, it isn't surprising. When you are OLDER your body is saying 'I don't want to give up that fat!' and it's just harder to lose it. You have to work at it more." So, my first reaction is "HEY! I'M NOT OLD!!!" (Of course, not shouting) BUT, I don't think of myself that way at all. So of course, I'm wanting to prove her wrong and that I certainly don't want to belong to her statistical demographic!! So guys, I am doubly determined to get below 200 this month!! Ragafrazzinsnagarabin!!!!

Have any of you heard of the Red Hat Society? I am thinking of joining a local chapter and taking my Mom (the original model for the poem: "When I am old, I shall wear purple")!! (Not that she's "old" at 72 or anything...)

Welcome Sherry

Hi Suji and Carolyn:

Sherry, it's great that you are back on LC. I'm pretty new at this. I started in November. I'm a part of a study, a guinea pig so to speak, but it's keeping me true, except over Christmas when I ate cookies. Anyway, I have had a couple of weeks since I started where I stalled. I was so down. But the next week a loss showed up so hang in there. It will all start to happen soon. Where are you from. Do you have kids, etc. etc.?

Suji, I know about getting old. My son teases me about it all the time. You are fortunate that your mom is only 72. I am the youngest in my family tree on my mom and dad's side. The bummer about that is my mom is 82, bless her heart. I lost my dad when I was 16 to cancer, but he would be 88 if he were still around. My mom is a trooper though. She was remarried for about 10 years and then that husband died of cancer too, about 4 years ago. But she had a really truly happy 10 years. But by me getting old, my DH and I are in those years where we lose family members. It's kind of scary. We have tried to prepare ourselves for whats to come. We discuss it a lot. My DH lost his dad a few years back and his mom is also 82 and not well. So yes, join that red hat society with your mom. It's really active in our part of the states. You will have a great time.

Carolyn: I hope all is well. I sure wish I could match your weight loss!! I weigh in at group today. I will let everyone know the results. If my scale at home is any indication, it won't be much if anything. Oh well, there's always next week.

Take care everyone.

Welcome Sherry!

Good morning Girls! And Welcome Sherry I am glad that you found us and that you feel you are a kindred spirit. (I guess this means that your life is a little nuts too.) So please dish....are you married, do you have kids, what part of the country are you from, any hobbies etc...

Suji I'm glad to hear that you are beginning to feel better. I laughed when you told me that your grandmother made most of your clothes. I was in the same boat growing up. My mother made all of mine because I had long arms and legs and was as skinny as a rail, so anything that fit my body didn't have long enough arms, or pant legs. My mom was really talented and could make anything I wanted just by seeing it on the rack. She didn't even have to use a pattern. I'm unfortunately not that talented. I have to use patterns and it takes me much longer than it took her. As a homemaking teacher she would get copies of the new pattern catalogs every season and one of my favorite memories are of the two of us pouring over them for ideas. I never had a chance to wear anything out because at the end of each season she would donate it to charity and we would start over. I really miss that and I miss her so much.

I thought of you yesterday when the local community college listed their adult education courses in the paper. There offer sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, gourmet cooking, silk flower arranging etc... and they are so inexpensive. My girlfriends and I are planning to take the cake decorating class in March. You asked if I purposely excercised when I was young and I did. Not so much for the sake of excercise itself, but I just had so much energy then I had to do something. I was on the tennis team in high-school and also the drill-team. I spent my summers working at summer camp as a lifeguard so I did swim alot too. I continued to play tennis almost daily until my kids came along. Just before graduation our instructor told us that we should strive to remain physically active to ward off "a big butt like hers". Being naive I said to my friend, "Yeah right, like that would ever happen." A couple of weeks ago I was taking something out of the pantry and opened the fridge with my fanny! I guess those words have come back to haunt me now.

Leslie I can relate to killing plants. I have no real plants in my home because I cannot keep them alive. In college I actually killed a chia pet, a cactus, and finally gave up when my air fern died. I can manage outdoor plants but never have I been able to sustain any in the house.

Where you were talking about the Woman's Day eight minute workout that used to be online? Or was it in print? There are online slide show workouts on the Woman's Day website. The one I used to use was actually a real time video, but now only have slides which I don't like as well, but they are better than nothing.

Please pray for me! DH is becoming such a low carb grouch! I may have to move him into the barn before this is over. As long as I also move his recliner, TV and remote he'll be fine. If only I really could. How about your men, how are they handling it?

Well, I have to go time to hit the treadmill. Have a great day ladies!

Carolyn

Aww, Carolyn-what a nice memory you have to hold on to. My Mom did not get the "sewing gene". She tried, but like wrapping presents (and I have her "worst wrapper" gene), most attempts were slapdash. She has other strengths. Yes, I was very coltish--never a curvy sort. You sound more athletic than I ever was though I was a good runner (sprints). AS oldest of 5, we pretty much had family sports among us kids. I have to laugh since I was climbing trees until I was 18. I never had any weight problems until I let myself gain mega pounds with my kids and then it started. I laughed with your frig opener butt joke. I especially like how I round corners and bump into walls or into furniture, My brain thinks my bod is smaller than it is now.

I have pretty good luck with plants now that I have such good light in this house. My E/SE exposure seems to be a real hit with my orchids and I have banana trees scraping the ceiling downstairs (also tropical hibiscus and avocado). I just love to experiment with plants.

DH isn't a grouch but he's really hungry when he gets home after his commute--typically after 7 pm. I always thought it a good idea not to even eat after 7 but what can he do? He is starting to add exercise since I found him on our rowing machine watching the telly in our BR last evening. So far, so good.

Hey--I walked the dog like I'm supposed to for cardio. YAY!

Leslie, my DH is the youngest in his family. There's a 14 year gap between he and and his sibs, so his Dad is going to be 87 next month and is gradually failing. He already lost his Mom to cancer 4 years ago. I hate when my parents refer to themselves (and this is recent) as "old". My Mom's aunt lived into her 90's and was very active socially and physically. I think once people start thinking of themselves as "Old", a change is occurring in their psyches. Of course, they are facing so many new and ongoing physical issues right now, that I understand where this is coming from. I guess I just want them to fight harder or something. I can still remember a family reunion we went to when I was a kid and someone had apparently recently passed on; my Dad turned to my Mom and his sibs sitting near each other and said with an odd tone: "Now WE'RE the old ones..." That overheard statement stuck in my memory for some reason.

Well, I have more kitchen (zone 2) cleaning to do today as I am a "Flybaby" (Flylady "helps you organize and declutter your home....").
Have a great day "wimmins"!

Suji, Carolyn, & Leslie,
Thank you girls for such a warm welcome. I feel lucky that you are letting me join in your group at such a late date. You all seem to be kind and warm and determined to get healthy.

So a little about me...
Well, first we are all about the same age-- I turned 50 this past September and flipped.. I never paid much attention to numbers until the big-5-0 then.. BOOM-- it hit me that I'm not getting any younger and the days are passing so quickly.
We all have children who are about to launch into adulthood-- I have 2 girls age 21 and 25. My oldest has graduated from college and is in the process of becoming a firefighter like her father. Now she is a EMT/Paramedic working at a hospital in the ER/trauma center. My youngest is in college majoring in advertising. She goes to VCU in Richmond.

I live near Suji-- I'm in Virginia Beach, VA. I've been married for 30 years to a wonderful man. He is a firefighter & FEMA rescuer. He is also a health nut and is in great athletic shape -- Ugh! We met in college...

I work about 4 days a week-- I'm a licensed professional counselor in private practice. I sit on my butt all day long-- no wonder it's getting bigger by the year. I love what I do and would trade places with no one.

I love the beach and go everyday the weather cooperates. I love music and art. I'm a bit artsy too. I am in a current love affair with TiVo...and we have 3 BIG dogs that run our house--that's another story.

I started eating lo carb 2 years ago and lost 60 lbs in about 10 months. After that I stalled big time. I haven't lost any more and I haven't gained any either. Ugh!! I am frustrated by the lack of progress in such a long time, so I decided to get S-E-R-I-O-U-S. I think I've been eating portions that are too large and eating too many carbs-- enought to maintain but not to lose. In the past week I have managed to get into Ketosis and lost 4 pounds. I think its mostly water weight. Let's see if I can do better...

Thank you all once again for your warm welcomes... it means a lot to me. I take care of people all day and rarely ask someone to take care of me. Let's do it! Let's all get to our goals and be successful!

Oh goodie! Sherry is an East Coaster! Carolyn--you never said what state you're from... Sherry, I used to live in Fairfax County, VA which prides itself on its' public schools. We used to believe that our only rival in that regard was Virginia Beach. I have driven through en route to the Outer Banks twice, but otherwise don't know a whole lot about the area "feel". I do know that economic development (my former field) was a strong force there.

I did not "flip out" at 50 since I have been internally de-emphasizing birthdays (my own, that is) for quite a few years now. It is other people that draw my attention to it. So, this year didn't affect my emotional state much more deeply than any other year. However, suddenly all the quirks that I've had for decades are now too easily attributed to suddenly being "older". Of course, there is that definite strange moment when you get your first AARP mailing.

Ah, you have girls. That is an experience I think I would have liked to see for myself (on a parallel screen) in case I was awful at parenting girls! I would have to say that my house is much quieter than many people who have at least one girl. Maybe it is because my sons aren't sports fanatics--that may be the key "noise" difference. My middle son is attending Virginia Tech, so we still have an (expensive) VA state connection despite living in Maryland.

You are so lucky to have a beach close by. Does VA Beach have many issues with storms? What kind of art/music? I did go to my first college intending to get a Fine Arts degree and certainly enjoyed my classes back then. Do you attend local cultural events? Theater?

What kind of dogs? My former big dog was Great Pyrenees. I have wanted to get a Newfie, but our floors in this house are kind of problematic for hips/legs (too slippery), so we have a rough collie instead (Cara Beannie).

Husband just gifted me last night with something from Apple (We are a Mac family) called myTV.PVR. It isn't installed yet, but the advert on the package states: "Watch WHAT you want, WHEN you want, WHERE you want! You control your TV watching experience, Watch live TV, TV recordings, or listen to FM radio, Pause live TV with instant replay, or watch your scheduled TV recordings any time you want! Watch live or recorded TV on your Mac notebook or desktop." He's going to hook it up to this MAC OS X.

Yes, portion control has LONG been my issue. I have found that I am much more aware of it this go round. I also intend to really watch what happens as I adjust this diet to include more carbs by monitoring just how many carbs I can have before I drop out of ketosis. I didn't do that before, and well, the ignorance led to weight gain again. I think I just figured I lost it and I was done. But my body doesn't burn cals like it used to since I don't even have the same musculature I had 10 years ago--what "slugdum" does.

We look forward to hearing more from you, Sherry.

I've got to read more Joan Didion (Ugh-up to almost 500 pages now. Not that I don't like her. It's the going back over the pages and preparing for my book club that's a killer!) More zone 2 (kitchen cleanup) and taking down the rest of the Christmas stuff. I still have lights on our tree and knick knacks. It was put up so late that I have been loathe to quickly remove all evidence. I will have to put some sort of winter decor up. (That's my new thing--decorating for the season albeit inexpensively).

I know I'm sticking to my Atkins well. My goal is daily walks with the dog this week now that I'm better (80% better today, although bad insomnia 2 nights in a row).

Talk to you gals later and keep up with our daily goals!

Sue

Hi Suji, Carolyn and Sherry

Well, the results are in. At Tuesday's weigh in I was down another 3.1 lbs. I am psyched once again, because usually its just 1, maybe 2 lbs. I think its the exercise. We are adding carbs back in which scares me, but if I keep losing, its okay.

Sherry, I'm as west coast as you could be. We sure are spread far apart. Oregon beaches are fabulous. We usually rent a house for a week in the summer right on the beach. I have a gorgeous view of Mt. Hood out my 11th floor window at work. Mt. St. Helens (which we constantly keep watch on) is viewable from another window in the office. I love the northwest. We are experiencing a cold snap now. A little snow, not sticking though, but the highs starting tomorrow are only supposed to reach the upper 20's. It's time to bundle up.

Okay, you guys are so lucky your DH's are doing low carb with you. On Monday's I have to take my son to a music lesson after work. We get home about 7:30 pm. We have a laundry room that is rather large, so we have our home PC in there too (there's room for a desk and a hookup). I caught my DH eating Jack-in-the-Box hamburgers, french fries and a huge Dr. Pepper (the sugary kind) at the computer. He cracked. He used the excuse that we wouldn't be home until late and he was hungry. I had a roast in the crock pot and veggies on the stove. I even made him a noodle dish so he could have a few carbs with his meal. He said, he could eat it tomorrow, because he had already bought the burgers. Good Grief. There's no helping the man.

Suji, I hope you continue to feel better. Yes, portion control, portion control. I'm the worst at it. Last night I finished off the cashews, albeit only about 3 tbsp. worth, but more than I should have eaten. We still have Christmas lights up. The weather has been so ugly around here, I haven't wanted to go out to take them down. Hopefully soon though.

Take care girls.

Leslie

Suji, have you shined your sink?

Suji, I had to laugh when you mentioned that you are a fly baby. I am as well, I have a complete Fly Journal and use it religously. I am the most unorganized person by nature so Fly Lady keeps me on the straight and narrow. I am from Texas remember? We talked about that a while ago, and you mentioned that you had once lived in the Fort Worth area.

My husband and I have found a buyer for our farm. We will be keeping seven acres and moving up on a hill. The view there is lovely, however we will be living in a trailer for a while because this is all happening so quickly. (Just what every Texan fears-living in a trailer in Tornado Alley! ) We orignially intended to stay where we are and sell the rest. But, our buyer has made an offer we cannot refuse. Once we have built the new house I am sure that it will be great. At least my husband will design this one and it will be what I want (with plenty of storage.) I just don't like moving, or waiting.

Sherry, I envy you living so close to the beach. I love the beach! I love vacationing in the Carribean, and would move there in a heartbeat if my husband would. But I don't know what we would do for a living there. We were planning to go again this summer, but with all of these new developments I don't know if we will be able to. I only have boys as well, so I have no idea what raising girls would be like. I think that Leslie has girls though. I often have girls in my home who are friends and girlfriends to my sons. I am always amazed at how smart and empowered girls are now.

Leslie, how did the weigh in go? You mentioned that you used to do the 8 Minute Woman's Day Workout. Was that the one online or in print?. Now they have replaced the online video with slides. There are weighted excercises there too if you would like to check it out.

Well, I have to go. I have to call around to find a storage unit. I am going to begin going through all of our belongings looking for things to get rid of as well. I don't want to pack and move things I don't want.

My husband is doing better, no so cranky now. I have appeased him by giving him a cream cheese cloud with Chocolate Redi Whip. Now I won't have to move him into the barn after all. Good thing I guess because we are selling that too.

Have a great day ladies, and hang tough!

Carolyn
