Atkins Advantage Shakes Routine

Question - has anyone ever tried a routine of replacing breakfast and lunch by drinking Advantage Shakes two times a day, then a balanced low carb meal in the evening for dinner? If so, how long did you do this and what was your results? Any significant weight loss?

I have not received any posts regarding this subject. So, I am going to occasionally post my progress. I started my routine last week (Nov. 1) and today (Nov. 8), I stepped on the scale and found that I lost two pounds (which may be water - we know how that goes).

I am attempting to lose six pounds. I am simply doing a two-meal replacement for at least 4-5 days, watching my carbs (20 grams maximum) and drinking plenty of water during the day, as well as exercising on my treadmill anywhere from 3-5 days. In the evening, I am eating salad, veggies and protein (chicken, steak, fish, turkey). We'll see what happens!

As of today, I lost another pound . . . the routine seems to be working . . . seems on the average that I lose 0.6 oz per day.

Just curious...do you eat any snacks?

Because even Slim Fast offers 2-3 snacks per day to help with hunger which is why I was asking.

Honestly, because of the large amount of water I've been drinking, I have not been hungry enough to snack. But, I am planning to make a mini-hors doeuvre platter to chew on just in case.

I find that when I eat the Atkins bars (cereal, snack bars) I resurrect the craving for sweets . . . so, at this early stage, if I want a snack, I will have the hors doeuvre platter (chopped chicken liver, stuffed celery, devilled eggs, whitefish, oysters, etc.) or raw veggies.

Wow that sounds like a great idea. My mom does the shake thing, when she does it she does lose weight, but she never sticks with it because she gets too hungry on it. Good luck and grats on your progress! *cheers*

Good news . . . . although I am so use to maintaining the 150's at this point - here's my progress . . .

I am still at 157 lbs - BUT, my body fat is now at 39.5% - down from 41.5%! That's 2% body fat gone . . . . Will keep you posted.

Still floating at 157 lbs . . . which is MUCH better than 161!! This morning, I took my waist measurement - last week I was 32 inches, today I am 31 inches!! WOO HOOO, I am loving this. I am about to have my first Atkins Advantage Shake (Chocolate Delight flavor - over ice, of course) of the day!

How are you measuring your body fat? Is it one of the scales that do it for you?

Yes, I bought a TANITA scale about 2 years ago - which I love!! It registers the body fat. It's really good to know.

WOOOHOOOOO - lost another pound!!! 156 lbs, with 1 more to go . . . and who knows how long I might continue on the 2-meal replacement plan . . .??? My goal has been to reach 140 lbs - but I have been stuck in the 150's for some strange reason. Well, nothing beats a failure but a TRY!!!! We'll see as the month goes on!!

Thanks for your posting here, I appreciate your comments!!

I just had lunch with a former colleague of mine . . . . I had blackened salmon and veggies. Tonight, I will have a shake and plenty of water. I'll see how that will work as I've never done that before. I am hoping that next week I'll lose that 1 lb. Keeping the faith . . . .

Hello, LC Buddies,

I am now weighing in every few days - this morning, I am still 155. I can't tell you how good I feel that I lost the 6 lbs and they are staying off, again, it depends upon me and my eating habits.

I want to thank you all for the encouragement . . .!! I will be checking in soon . . . and BTW, enjoy but don't overeat tomorrow!!!

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! I lost another pound!! I am now officially 154! That's 7 lbs down and gone!! Truthfully, I was not going to weigh myself this morning but just couldn't wait for tomorrow. I'd noticed that I'd been hovering over 155 for a few days, so, I guess I just wanted to see the progress one day earlier. Hope everyone's enjoying their day!

Hey lady! Hows it going now? I was going to get back on track with a strict induction but maybe ( key word being maybe....lol) I will join you on a protein drink day or 3. I got some Designer Whey protein powder , choc & vanilla to try. I have about 1/4 can of atkins vanilla mix left. I will let you know what I decide.

DonnaD40,

Thanks for asking . . . still hovering around 154. Will give it a few more days and check the scale. I've been holding on strong with my eating habits as well as the two-can intake.

Glad that you are planning to do an induction for a few days. I wish you the best!

Update . . . stepped on scale this morning and got a 155 reading but also had an unusual TOM (unusual because I get the depo shot and TOM is hardly around) - extra liquid in the bod I guess . . . anyway, I will keep updates coming.

This morning, I checked my body fat - I am 39.0% down from 41.5%! That 2 1/2% body fat lost . . . WOOHOO - Since TOM is still here, I am still at 155 weight but am keeping siggy at 154 lbs. Once TOM leaves, I will be back at 154 for sure!

TOM w/ depo...............ick. How long you on it? I was on it for 3 yrs & went the whole time with no TOM. Was wonderful .

I decided on induction , I need to chew!............LOL. Tho I am thinking that I will have a small shake if I feel like I need a cheat. Its better than the alternative.

DonnaD40,

I have been on it forever . . . about 13 years . . . the doctor is talking about weaning me off of it . . . NO, I DON'T THINK SO . . . I am not in menopause yet (I was tested) and I HAD IDENTICAL TRIPLETS WHEN I WAS 21 YEARS OLD (lost two of them at ages 11 days and 18 days old) . . . . I don't trust anything . . . . I told the doctor I plan to be on it until I AM TOTALLY IN MENOPAUSE WITH PROOF!!!! Am at the age where I need to be thinking about retirement in the future, not diapers, formula, etc.

I can deal with the depo as long as needed . . . since I am a multiple birther (it runs in my family - plenty of twins were born) . . . . I am extra careful!!!
