Any response you type "bumps" the message to the top of the board - hence, when someone simply wants to put the message back at the top, they type the word "bump" and there she goes!

Hello All
I just started induction yesterday and I am committed to doing this and to lose about 60lbs before next year. I am currently 200lbs and want to be at least 160 before next year but lets see what this new way of eating can bring me down to before 12-31-06 ![]() |

I'm starting again, I had a bit of a break and no I feel lousy and need to get back to Atkins. My body really felt the severity of my binge. My asthma is acting up due to binging on wheat products. Now I am wheezing, AND FEELING YUCKY.

So I haven't made any. I did buy some cream or tartar, though -- just in case! Anyone have any idea what would make them more or less "dense?" Edited to Add: Is it the difference between making them with cottage cheese and using cream cheese, do you think? Last edited by BlueBrooke : 09-18-2006 at 11:57 AM. Did you count calories?
I'm assuming you did not - only ate until satisfied, right? Just needed clarity. Also assuming you are the lady, not the guy? lol

Also, did you trim your meat as close as possible, or would you eat, say the skin on a drumstick or thigh? |

Hi Cheryl! I'm doing pretty darn good! Friday starts my 4th week of my 4-week personal challenge and I'm doing really great this time! I have added exercise (T-tapp) and am really getting a lot out of it and the '72 way of eating this time around. My jeans are getting loose and I'm not thinking about food all the darn time...isn't that great!?How are you doing anyway? Lisa |

difference between old and new atikins
I am so glad I found this site!
The 1st Atkins book I ever read was my mother's old copy of the original, thank goodness! As the new books came out, and I wanted my own, and I continued my low carb odyssey, I noticed that the rules had changed . . . I had a baby, and recently I decided to try Atkins again. All I had now was new books, but I just did the original version anyway. I have lost 40 lbs since Feb., and am only about 3 lbs from my goal weight! Here's what I like about old Atkins vs. new Atkins: During induction, I always tried to keep my carbs at 10 or below. I eat however much I want, whenever I want, as long as it's low carb! The original Atkins didn't pay attention to trans fats or anything like that, I don't even know what those are- I just eat 20-30 carbs a day (I'm past induction now of course!) and I do fine! I eat REALLY healthy. Every day, fresh veggies, olive oil, real butter- this is the way our ancestors ate, and that's why there was no obesity back then. Atkins is the way we were meant to eat! I truly believe that. I have several friends who are doing Atkins now, and it's been a real challenge explaining to them how to do the diet when all we have is "new" books to work with. I finally did find some of the yellow paperback ones, from early 90s I think, and those are better than all the new ones, though still not as good as the original. Good luck everyone! |

Question for the ladies over 40 does this plan help with menopause? I am 49 and going through it and let me tell you I am having a hard time keeping the weight off I gained 15 over the summer and can not get it off I am doing the meat and egg fast right now day 4 for me and was thinking of adding small salad next week and working up just like what I have read here. Any suggestions. Thank you, Maria

I asked a question in another thread about Atkins72 versus regular Atkins. Nobody had an answer I guess. I finally got my copy back from my daughter of Atkins 72 and started reading it. Now I'm excited and am going to give it a try. I have been stuck for awhile, maybe this is what I need to get started again.

I read that after 48 hours your body goes into ketosis. Well I am on day number 3 so I should be in ketosis though I dont have any sticks to check it out. Judy

Meling... just a tip for the sticks. Cut them in half and you get 100 for the price of 50
![]() I don't use them anymore. If you're eating off the list, chances are you'll get into ketosis eventually. I'd rather have the $12 to put towards new clothes. Good luck everyone. I'm starting on Thurs |

That is a good idea about breaking the sticks in half to make 100. When we get paid again I should go down and invest in a bottle. I know it is frustrating to know how little it takes to get a person out of ketosis. I know you will figure it out and get back in deep ketosis again. I wish I was better at keeping a food diary. I'm not good at keeping a regular diary(LOL) Judy

Hey, just wanted to mention that the next time you need to buy, if there's a SuperWal-mart in your area, I bought 50 for less than $7...a lot better than $12, gracious! Good luck! Here's to ketosis for everyone! Karyn |
