grams cals %total
Total: 392

At what point do I add in more veggies? My loss has been very steady. I averaged 1lb per day.
I think you're set to add veggies now! Your protein is very good (not too much). So long as you're not dousing anything in salad dressing or butter, eat up!

I thought M/E WAS the 3 day experiment? Are these two different things?
BTW, I know the 3 day experiment is lean meats and eggs. So M/E is something different?

As I understand it now Randy, A lot of people are modifying the original M/E Kimmers experiment by adding too much fat, like bacon, sausage, dairy, funky foods and too high calories. Kimmers M/E was always lean and low cal.No modifications. I hope thats right.

Once in a while a small dessert, but sweets are a problem area for me so I tend to not keep them in the house. Treats I bake for my foster sons are in a size that has no leftovers, LOL!

I don't use Fitday for myself very often, but when I do check I'm running around 1200-1400 calories, 70-100 carbs. This seems right for 118 lbs and a non-exerciser.

No, M/E was already here 7 years ago. It seems to pretty much be any animal product, usually high calorie (ham, sausage, cheeseburgers, pork rinds). And, naturally, high calorie cheese and the desserts made from them. Some people actually gain weight!

The Kimmer Experiment is Stillman's although it gets a better reception.

This should be a "sticky." But, then again, it will probably stay at or near the top with all the interest in Kimmer and her "way!"

Thank you, Kimmer.

I don't know. I don't support M/E. You might ask at the Stickie at the top of the page?

Why thank you! I don't know about a Stickie because the front page will get cluttered, but maybe it will go to PAP (Past Amazing Posts)?

Kimmer,

Thanks for the clarification. On another board, I saw an incredibly long thread where some of the people were talking about m/e as a lifetime woe!
I couldn't understand why you would want to try and do that for life...unless you just really hate all vegetables and salads. Sounds boring and probably not the best thing for your body once you get near goal.

1. What do you use on your salads for dressing?
2. Do you recommend mixed greens over iceburg?

The closer I get to goal the more cautious of the fat/cal/carb combo I'm becoming. I want the next 49 to come off as quickly as the first 44... but I'm not naive enough to think it will do so by doing the same things... I know I have to change as I go along...

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm a mom, same thing.

I don't mind answering questions, even similar ones. What I've learned from my years on this BB is that everyone learns differently. Ten of us can read a post and there will be 4 different interpretations.

It does make me very happy when people begin seriously losing weight. One girl sent me an email last week. She's 23, 5'4", 295 lbs, a lurker ... and has lost 37 lbs since St. Patrick's Day. I asked her what her best tip was and she wrote she's learned leftover veggies taste great mixed with scrambled eggs, LOL!

To be honest, if someone's doing high calorie M/E (double cheeseburgers, chicken wings, fatty steak), they might have to stay on it for life. At those calorie levels they can't add many carbs!

But, I'd almost bet that they're eating something "carby" (probably sweet), otherwise their appetite would be gone.

Smart girl! You can't lose the second 44 by eating the same things because now you weigh 44 pounds less (that's at least 440 calories a day less!)

Mixed greens are better for you because they're darker. The rule in veggies is the more color, the more "good stuff". Still, iceberg is better than an Atkins bar any day of the week. I love iceberg, actually (crunchy, watery), although for my salads I use a large mixture of all.

You have little ones and you want to be as healthy as possible for them.

Edit: Sorry, forgot about salad dressing. You'll lose better with low calorie types, even though the carbs are a bit higher. Kraft, Wishbone and Seven Seas all have a gaggle of interesting and delicious low cal versions. You'll do better with the "liquidy" Italian types with a shaker top. People who like sweets (me) can even find a few of those in low calorie.

Thanks!!! I am planning to cut about 300-400 cals per day (may need to look at more, per your message) by cutting out the cream in my coffee (2-3 cups of coffee with 1-2 tbsps in each!!!) and by switching to a different salad dressing. (Currently I was using about 3TBSP of my own mixture of EVOO (2tbsp) & Balsamic Vineger (1tbsp) w/black pepper & garlic powder)...On a bed of baby spinach! Also, I've dramatically reduced how freely I was using CREAM CHEESE!!!

So, thanks Kimmer!!! It's great to know I'm headed in the right direction - mind and body!!! Thanks again!!!

Ugg - I can't imagine that going over very well. When I started down this track, the foundation was to track everything. The numbers don't lie, when you realize and get everything down to simple algebra (solve for x), its easy to make small tweaks in your diet to accomplish the goals and 'engineer for success'.

Here's a few of mine...
No 'real eggs'. Carton's of Egg Whites.
Limit types of cheeses to lower cal/lower fat. (mozz, feta, ~80cals/serving)
Primarally lean meats (boneless/skinless chicken, chicken\turkey based sausage & turkey burgers)

Kimmer, I hope this hasn't been asked before...

On maintenance how often do YOU weigh yourself?

Thanks for all your advice...it works for me!

Every day. I give myself +3 pounds, although a snug fitting pair of jeans will tell me even sooner.

I realize scale obsession (especially my personality), but it's so much easier to deal with losing a quick 2-3 pounds than weeks long 20-30.

Netmage, you're totally right. It's all about finding what works for us. All of my advice is geared only toward losing weight quickly ... and I'm not saying everyone should. There are sacrifices and soul-searching that go hand in hand with drastic changes in eating. Even warm & fuzzy comfort, and not everyone is willing to give that up (even for health).

Mel, I hope you don't mind if I pass your post along to my sister. She's lost 35 pounds on LC and has 'stalled'. Her meals are OK, but she cannot give up her pot of coffee every day with about 600-800 calories in creamer & Equal.

I asked if she could compromise with just 2 cups in the morning and then switch to diet soda or flavored water, but it's almost like a crutch. Her husband isn't the nicest guy and she works in a stressful job.

She has dropped from a size 20 to a 14 and at 5'9" and looks 100% better and so much happier! She's absolutely thrilled with herself!!!

Kimmer, I'd be honored . Seriously!!! On another note, I've cut out my afternoon cup all together, and instead of actually DRINKING coffee, I just prep the pot for the next morning and fill up my water jug! The afternoon coffee was started to curb my afternoon-munchies, but now, I think I'm DRINKING as many calories as I would have eaten!!! (Granted, the other stuff was horrible junk food, but still.) Best of luck to your sister!!! I hope she knows what an awesome resource/support system she has in you!!! We all know it here on LCF!!!

Kimmer,
I am so confused . I thought meat and Egg was the three day experience then go into kimkins.. I thought you were the one that said only lean meat and no extra fats.. So I have been on M and E for 3 days.. this is my fourth and all I have been eating was boneless chicken breast cutting off all visible fats and eggs .. today in my fourth and I did eat shrimp with a T of butter to saute' them. So I thought now today on my fourth day I add in veggies...So did I waste my time doing this???

not Kimmer BUT i know the answer!!!!! you did GREAT!!! you did indeed do the 'kimmer experiment' and now is the time to start adding in your vegies!!!!

sugh what they were talking about is that there is Also a meat and egg diet that is high fat and calories that was here before kimmer got here. now That is the diet that Kimmer doesnt recommend...( so now we are refering to That diet as the Meat and Egg and we refer to Kimmers 3 day experiment as well lol Kimmers 3 day Experiment--which is lean meats and eggs and no added fat! (stillmans)

And what YOU did Was the Kimmer Experiment and sounds like you did really good!!!!!

I just want to say something short & sweet about Meat & Egg, because this thread has given it a very bad rap! If you don't eat the pork rinds, bacon, sauage, cheese (which to me, are not simply meat or egg), it can be a quite satisfying and reduced calorie way of life. Vegetables and fruits can be very hard for many people to digest, can also be addictive and overeaten to slow weight loss. Also, as you know with Atkins "fat fast", many people lose BETTER with more fat, medium protein, VERY low carb. So if you are eating lean meats & veggies with little added fat and are HUNGRY and not losing, everyone is different, and M/E may be an option for you. Ok that's it
