OMG WILL THEY NEVER COME OFF?!! Challenge

The OMG WILL THEY NEVER COME OFF?!! Challenge is for folks that are within 15 or less pounds of goal.

Losing the last pounds can be slow and presents different challenges then the ones we faced during the first stages of losing weight on low carb. This support group is about identifying what you feel needs to be your focus to push on to reaching your personal goals. Along the way we provide each other support, information, lots of laughs and a safe place to evaluate how your personal "plan" is working.

The only rule - we treat each other with respect and kindness.

If you are closing in on your goal weight, like the friendly chatter of a group of friends sharing thoughts and support... then come join us!

~~***Latin LowCarbers***~~

Hola mis amigos! Que Onda?

I hope everyone is having a great LC Day!

Latinos, such as ourselves, are known to have a richly carb based diet.

Sometimes its hard to adapt a totally new WOE/WOL, but boy is it worth it! How many of us have been touched by Diabetes in some way in our lives? Diabetes being the #1 killer amongst Hispanics.

I hope this forum will be a nice place to share our success, recipe conversions, and any other topic pertaining to our culture which is known to revolve around food and socializing! *lol*

Go ahead and POST AWAY!

Beinvenidos!

Sports Freak? Video Game nut? Low carbing? Come on over!

Low Carbing and would like to discuss Sports topics? Sick of hearing every time its "that time of the month" for one of your board posters? don't care to hear the sometimes graphic details? are you more concerned with Xbox vs. PS2 than Tampax vs. Kotex? this is the place for you!

I hope to begin a group devoted to helping each other while keeping "personal" style matters, that you wouldnt normally tell even family members, away from the conversations. Instead discussing anything from pro sports to video games to electronics and everything inbetween while sharing recipies, great food finds, and successes all the while making some great friends and people to motivate us on our mission.

I'll be working on a Scoring system to calculate how the members would be doing, loosely based on a similar model as football scoring, but nothing a non-football fan would have a hard time with

Open to everyone. I'll be posting the initial thread shortly, just an FYI for what is to come, please message me if you'd like to participate/be notified of the launch, hopefully launching on or before the 4th of july

Feel free to e-mail

Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon.

Catholics on the Low Carb WOL/WOE

Any Catholics interested in joining this thread located on the CHALLENGES thread?

It is called Catholics on the Low Carb WOL/WOE.

This is NOT to take away from the wonderful Christian groups we have. As I am a member of them too and LOVE them! This is just another special place to go to discuss our special devotions we have as Catholic Christians, ie...Sacraments, Holy Days, Mass Daily Readings, Devotions to The Blessed Mother Mary & the Saints.

As a Catholic woman I have special devotions to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus, the Blessed Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Therese of Lisiux. I also pray the Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and partake in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (Eucharistic Adoration).

I think this would be a wonderful group to start. I'm sure we have many Catholics whom would love to embrace their faith while losing on this WOE/WOL.

Strayed Catholic? That's OK!!! Come on and join us!

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Melissa

Protein Power Pals Challenge

We are followers of the Protein Power plan, devised by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Michael Eades and Dr. Mary Dan Eades. They advocate an adequate protein/moderate fat/lower carb regimen in which you first determine your minimum protein requirement. Each day, you must eat at least this much protein, and between 30 and 55 grams of ECC (carbs minus fiber) to start. You spread your protein and carbs fairly equally throughout the day to avoid insulin spikes.

Though ketosis is not necessary for weight loss, neither is it discouraged. Some people enjoy the loss of appetite that ketosis brings. Others avoid ketosis and the accompanying loss of appetite because they find they don't get in the required amount of protein, and weight loss slows.

In our group, the Protein Power Pals, we encourage each person to find what works for them. We won't tell you not to do "this" or you really should do "that." We work with each other to find what works best in individual cases. We have some people who eat higher fat, others eat higher ECC. We run the gamut here, just like in real life!

For detailed information on the plan, we recommend the Eades' first two books, "Protein Power" (read this one first) and "Protein Power Lifeplan." Valuable information is also found on the Protein Power web site at www.eatprotein.com. Click the link to the bulletin board, and then go to the forum called "Your First Stop Is Here."

~~200-250 DOWN TO 199-CHALLENGE!!!~~

Here it is ladies and gents! Something for us to all strive for! Hitting that under 200 lb. mark. I have been striving to do this for some time now and I have been down to 201 lbs. and somehow still missed the mark.

This challenge is for those of us who see this as one of our short term (but major accomplishment) goals. If this is you, come on in and let's do this thing together! With support from one another and knowing that we are going through the same thing, together we can make this happen!

Note: This is also motivation for anyone who may be over 250 lbs. to lose and come on in and join our challenge support group. We will start out as a weekly thread until we grow to the need of having a daily thread. If you have any questions or suggestions, please post them in the thread for everyone to see. We will add our challenge banner later as the thread grows. We will also have graduation ceremonies when we meet our 199 lb. goal! Maybe will even make them live in the chatroom once every 2 weeks or so as we reach our goals!!!

Peri-Meno Challenge

We are here to lend support during this "wonderful" journey we will all be taking or have already taken. It is open to everyone that might want to share an experience or offer a tip.
Weight loss is a challenge anytime, but seems to be more challenging during "the change". Come on in and share, cry, rant, rave or just let us know how you are doing with all of the "raging hormones" bouncing around in your body.

Starch Blocker Challenge

Since so much interest has been shown in Starch Blockers after the article in the current Woman's World, a few of us have decided that on Monday, August 11 we're going to gather here on the Challenge Board to discuss our achievements and information on Starch Blockers. We're open to ideas and probably leaning more toward a weekly challenge than a daily at this point.

+ Monthly Walking Challenge - Join us! +

Starting off the new month with a walking challenge....

We simply walk and post the mileage daily. You can use a pedometer if you'd like.

All types of walking count towards your mileage.... indoor or outdoor.... ...fast or slow....

By posting....we can keep track and it gives us an incentive to walk! Your total miles will add up quickly and you will be amazed at how many miles you will put in!

So let's start this month off by putting one foot in front of the other.......

Quitters and Losers

This thread is for those of us who are trying to lose weight the low carb way AND also quitting smoking. Quitting smoking poses special challenges to people who are trying to lose or just maintain their weight.

I belong to a quit smoking online support group called quitnet.com, which is wonderful and I highly recommend it to anyone who is quitting smoking. But as anyone who is living la vita low carb knows, it's hard to find support for your way of eating. I wanted a place where I could go and post about my struggles with quitting and not have everyone respond - "oh, go ahead and eat whatever you want, weight doesn't matter". After losing 54 lbs. in 8 months - it most certainly DOES matter.

I truly believe that losing or maintaining weight is possible while quitting smoking and that low carb eating is the best way to do that. If you agree, and if you have recently quit, quit 30 years ago, or are just thinking about quitting smoking - please join us!

Do you have 50-100 pounds to lose?

Come join this brand-new challenge. Let's support each other for the long haul. Through the weight loss, the stalls, the cheats (if necessary) and of course, maintenance.

Do you have 50-100 lbs of weight to lose? Have you been a yo-yo dieter in the past? This challenge is for you!!!

I'm creating a weekly post here in the Challenges section, and will be tracking everyone's progress as well!!!!

Let's lose the weight and keep it off!!!!

Hi :-)

~* F.E.M. CHALLENGE *~

This challenge started off as a group trying out Fat Fast for 3-5 days. We decided to make it a challenge/group that stuck together to fast every month, starting the first Monday, as a Fat Fast/fat flush, when needed. The rest of the month as re-induction or whatever stage you are at. We wanted to keep the group together for support and ideas and information also!

Anyone is welcome no matter what stage of LC, age, color, sex...It doesnt matter...ALL WELCOME :-)

Have a great day and Best Wishes on *YOUR* LC Journey!!

EATING CLEAN! Carb Addicts Challenge

Hello lurkers! We are a relatively new group, supporting each other through our struggle with overeating/carb addiction/junk food bingeing. We call it "Eating Clean" because most of us are trying to eat more simply and more healthfully by avoiding cheats and treats. We're a small but encouraging group so far, and there's no specific set of rules--we help each other achieve our individual goals. By posting menus and sharing tips, we have so far been very successful in making great improvements in our eating. Even if you'd never think of yourself as an "addict", but just have trouble with certain triggers and temptations, come on in--we'd love to have you!
