Good Morning Ladies,
Brennie, I would give anything to weigh what you or Nancy do Do you have post vacation hangover? I did last week. I bet you and your girls will be happy to get back into a routine, although getting up in the morning is still hard for me.Nancy, I'm so sorry that you are going through so much right now. I that things will be easier for you this week. How was your speech yesterday? Did you have a fun afternoon? When I first started teaching I was scared to stand up and speak in front of my peers. Now, it's old hat.![]() I'm right with you ladies and dieting...The egg creme's are starting to work for me. I was down a little bit last week. I've been following WW, well kind of. The egg creme's are starting to fill me up. I started putting protein powder in them. School was better on Friday. My girlfriend apologized ![]() about being so anti-school and all the changes that will be coming our way. I hope for a drama free day. Have a nice day ladies. I look forward to reading about you guys when I come home from school ![]() ![]() Lynn ![]() |

I thought about starting a new thread...a fresh start...and then figured we would have trouble finding it so I posted on the old one. Then it was I who had the trouble. How silly am I? I should have known that great minds work alike! Here is what I had to say:
The meeting went well...even though Jenn told me I did terribly! She isn't used to seeing me be something other than mom and I think it took her by surprise...or I did terribly! I promise myself that no matter the stress this week (whether it is my mom's health, my son's college situation, my daughter's teenage "stuff" or my husband's work stress) I will not stray from plan. I will stay on plan all week. I promise, promise, promise! Who is in with me?? So I guess we are all going to do it this week!! Lynn, I am so glad she apologized and I hope that it is just the start of a good week ahead. I don't blame her for being upset, but she should know that it is a hard spot for you. Brennie, my scale was 132.5 and I am not happy either. My clothes don't fit. It is time to get to work! We will do this!!!

Nancy, I am on track, finishing up 40 ounces of water right now!
Should we start weekly threads or monthly? Lynn, I am glad that your friend apologized, hopefully you can get through the end of the year without any more drama and enjoy your summer! What are your summer plans? |

Good Sunny Morning Ladies,
I did pretty good yesterday too! Yeah Brennie ![]() ![]() ![]() Did it feel nice to have your girls back in school? If I remember correctly isn't your baby in kindergarten? If so, do you have any plans for next year when both girls are in school full-time? Maybe volunteer in their classroom? Although I've noticed that you already do that. No one wants to volunteer in junior high ![]() ![]() Nancy, how was your day? Did you speak with your mom yesterday? I hope you have an uneventful day today and that you find time for just yourself ![]() ![]() ![]() I had a drama free day yesterday! Let's hope I can make it two days in a row. Tonight I have 6th grade parent night That's where parents in our district get to decide if they want to send their kids to their neighborhood school for 7th and 8th grade or send them to my school. To me it's a no- brainer, we offer the junior high experience that models our sister high schools. Most of our parents probably prefer just to send their children to the school closest to their neighborhood. It's kind of like parent-teacher conferences, the interested parents show up and the others?.......That's it for me ladies, I'll catch ya on the flip side ![]() ![]() Enjoy your day ![]() Lynn |

Good Morning. I am soooooooooo tired. DS and I stayed up late filling out information for the college he selected (still waiting for the other....) What we thought would take half an hour took nearly 2, but he was really excited. It was 11:30 before I got to bed and then DH woke me up at 4:30 tossing and turning and making waaaaaaaaay too much noise. Coffee anyone?
Brennie, I am also down a pound and am very glad to be back on track!!! Let's do weekly threads. Does that sound good? Lynn, my mom sounded a little better yesterday. I am so glad we will be visiting her this weekend. I had to laugh when you said that no one volunteers in junior high. I was PTA pres. of Jenn's school in 7th grade and have done other room parent/volunteer chair things when both kids were that age and they hated it!! They really didn't want me on their turf! When I proctored the IB test at DS's school yesterday I wondered how he would feel. I used to volunteer at his HS quite a bit until he asked for space. Yesterday he ran to me and said "mommy!!" and then a couple of his friends called me mom and it was all very sweet. It felt as though it had come full circle! I hope you have a successful evening a the open house! |

Good Morning Loser Ladies,
I'm draggin' this morning ![]() I didn't get home from school auntil 8:45 p.m... turn out was okay for 6th grade parent night. I ended showing a perspective parent around our school last night. She was very concerned because she heard that we have many gang problems![]() I had to assure her that it was just an ugly rumor and that our school was very safe!Brennie, how was your day? I ended up eating spanish rice at 9:00 last night. I sat in my stomach like a rock the rest of the night. YUK! Nancy, I'm so glad that your mom sounded better. I know you'll have a beautiful day with her on Sunday. It warms my heart that you two gals continue to be very involved in your children's school ![]() ![]() I wish more parents were like you ladies![]() What a nice example you have set for your kids!We are going to write letters to our moms in class today. I told my students yesterday that I wanted the letters to come from their heart . Mom's make many sacrifices for their children and, although, we should celebrate them everyday, at least let's acknowledge them on Sunday.![]() ![]() Have a wonderful day ladies ![]() Lynn |

Good Morning
![]() Lynn, how nice that you are having the kids write those letters. I told my kids that if they wanted to get me a gift they could draw me a picture or write me a note. That is the nicest of all. I battle that gang issue a lot with my son's school. There are gang members there and they are rival gangs, but there hasn't been any gang violence. I guess it is understandable that people might worry, but there is "stuff" everywhere and the school security is there! Brennie????? Another sleepy morning here. I had a meeting that went until nearly 10 last night and then DH was not sleeping well so we were up quite a bit in the night. My darn bed is too small and I am a light sleeper! |

Good Morning
Lynn, I love the letter writing idea, very nice! I love helping out at the school and I am so glad that I can and that they let me Our school is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week this week and I am making an artichoke spinach dip for their luncheon on Friday, would you like to come I would also like to get them a small gift, do you have any suggestions? Funny, I was thinking of having them write a nice note to their teachers too!Happy Teacher Appreciation week to you too! I can tell from your posts how much the children you teach mean to you and even if you don't always get told I am sure the parents and students appreciate you very much ![]() Yay for a good turnout! I was invited to give tours to the incoming K parents last night but DH was working and my mom is away so I didn't have anyone to watch my kids, it would have been fun. Nancy, Good Morning! I hope you had a better sleep last night. I am also a light sleeper and it makes it tough to get through the night. You must be excited to go see your mom, are you all going? My mom is in VA and will come home late on Sunday so I think I will leave a little gift for her at her house and also for my stepfather, his birthday was May 3rd. Anything in the mail yet this week? I had a feeling it was going to come on Wednesday and that was yesterday so I am keeping my fingers crossed! I was doing great on plan but ate too much last night and it was salty Back on today ![]() |

Good Morning Ladies,
Two more days until the weekend ![]() I'm ready for this week to be over!Breenie, Again what you do for your girls at school is something that your kids (Nancy too) will always remember. I especially like the lunch that you're helping to plan. Our district didn't do much for us... My eating has not been the best, once again! I think I'm eating from stress, at least that's what I keep telling myself![]() However, when my clothes keep getting tight, it should stop being funny.Nancy, I too wondered if your son heard anything yesterday. I can just imagine how awful the waiting is. I keep praying for good news ![]() Breenie, I forgot to tell you...how thoughtful you are to get your girl's teacher a small gift. Starbucks would be nice. My Mother's Day letters didn't go over as well as I had hoped. I mainly had problems with a couple of boys and it set the tone for the rest of the day. Two boys in particular couldn't or should I say wouldn't, write their mothers a short message. They kept arguing with me about the length and how they couldn't think of what to say...These boys have very loving mother's. They would be so hurt if they knew what their son's were saying Finally I just had to stop and call a time-out. I got tears in my eyes and told them how they broke my heart. How much their mother's have sacrificed for them etc. It was probably the most powerful lesson I have taught in all my years of teaching. I have thirty kids in that class and when I got teary-eyed you could have heard a pin drop. Just thinking about yesterday is putting a lump in my throat.... I hope the boys learned something from me yesterday I don't mean to be a downer but, I cannot tell you how incredibly sad these two wanna-be gang bangers made me feel when they said things about their moms. In fact, a few weeks ago one of the boys mom took off of work to sit with her son in class, so he would stay out of trouble. She lost a day of pay, but it was worth it to her to show him how much she cared. He called her every hateful name in Spanish. She got tears in her eyes, but continued to hold her head high as he vented....![]() Enough about yesterday...today the sun will shine and I'll smile all day! ![]() Lynn ![]() |

Lynn, what a powerful post. I am so sad to hear about those kids and how they see their moms. I don't blame you for tearing up and I hope they learned something too.
![]() Brennie, I was so upset last night that I went off plan, but I am back today. We had a very ugly meeting about cheer and the cheer advisor lied to the assistant principal and the AP and the advisor basically saved the current coach's job...in spite of the fact that she releases the girls early and they leave campus and a million other issues. The current cheer booster president called me in tears and it has been very upsetting because people have lied and done really odd things. No word from the school. I made an anonymous call to ask if they had pulled kids from the waiting list and was told that they hope to send some letters next week. We can relax our fingers and prepare them for next week!!! |

Yeah, it's Friday Loser Ladies
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Three weeks from today is my last day until the end of July. It has been an emotional challenging year. However, I wouldn't change anything or trade jobs with anyone, because the highs and yes lows, have made me a better teacher. I'm forever grateful for that ![]() My minor meltdown in front of the kids did have an impact. We talked about it yesterday and the students did end up writing letters to their moms from the heart. One of my wanna-be gang-banger boys ended up writing a beautiful letter to his mom thanking her for her sacrifices for the family. He confided in me that thanking her was hard because he didn't know how to express himself because he never "talks" to her. The other boy just couldn't do it and I told him it was okay and even though I didn't understand, I respected him for that. All in all, I learned a valuable lesson from my kids. I know that many of my students moms will be very touched on Mother's Day ![]() ![]() Breeni, what did you end up doing yesterday? What are your plans for Mother's Day? I can't wait to hear what your girls do for you ![]() Nancy, I'm glad that there is hope for your son still getting into his college of choice. I haven't uncrossed my fingers yet ![]() How terrible about the cheer coach. Doesn't she realize how liable she is when she dismisses them from practice early? Her lieing doesn't surprise me in the least![]() Have a wonderful day ladies. Hope it's filled with lots of smiles and love. ![]() Lynn |

Lynn, you have given those families such an amazing gift. Wow. Can you imagine the mom's reactions when they get those letters? Can you imagine the impact writing those letters had on the kids? Big hugs and high fives to you!!
![]() You should feel so proud and satisfied with the impact you had. There is still hope for him to get in to the college and he really can't commit to the other one so we are in a funny spot. He found out his advisory group online yesterday. One thing led to another and I found the facebook group for the incoming class of 2012 and there were nearly 300 members!! He didn't want to look at it I hope he hears something positive or negative but final (!!) next week.I knew you would sympathize with the frustration over the lies!! I should think that the early dismissal alone would be enough to turn the tide...but there is a personal relationship involved. The cheer booster president spoke to the principal yesterday and involved her and she is planning to come to the meeting today. I am burning out on the whole thing, but will give it my best shot today. Weekend, here we come!!! |

Lynn, wow, I think what you did with your class is amazing
![]() Even for the young boy that couldn't write it, maybe it will give him something to think about ![]() Yesterday I had some running around to do and DH and I went and had lunch together. We got the teachers little plants that were in sneakers, they were cute and one had a lady bug on it - very Ryen like and the other had a butterfly on it - very Molly like! I also got them Dunkin Donuts cards and a few Starbucks chocolates to tape on the cards. I am making an artichoke/spinach dip to bring in for the luncheon today. Not sure what the plan is for Sunday... Nancy, still crossing ![]() I hope things work out today with the cheer situation. The early dismissal is so dangerous and needs to be addressed. I am sure you have had enough ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I am going back to low carb on Monday. I am not sure what DH and the girls are planning for Sunday so I won't try to do it this weekend.
I feel really, really bad about myself right now and I need to get this under control. I was lurking around in the playground and saw some pictures of a LC success and I just decided that it is what I am going to do until I get closer to goal...again. |

Brennie, great minds work alike and poorly behaved dieters seem to eat alike. I am also at an all time high and very unhappy with myself and in danger of not having clothes to wear. I would be game to go back to LC with you. I can't tomorrow because my mom is so excited about the lunch she planned for us and I won't do that at her table...but I will do it starting Monday!! Just like you
Shall we bite the bullet and post numbers and mini goals and so on???Lynn, DH was given really super baseball tickets for tonight (6) so we are taking the kids and a friend for each. The Padres are so bad this year. I still watch each game but can't make it through the whole thing! My son has lots of friends who work at the stadium. One of them, my favorite boy (he called me mom at school the other day and I showed him how he was also one of the very few pictures in my cellphone!!) is saving money to go to college next year and I hope these kids don't lose their jobs because attendance is dropping!! By the way, this boy (my spare son!!) is a former gang member and has put his head on straight, gotten a scholarship to college and is the sweetest boy!!! ![]() Last edited by Seelessofme : 05-10-2008 at 09:17 AM. |

Enjoy your family evening out, sounds like fun! Lynn, What are you doing this weekend? Last edited by brenniebear : 05-10-2008 at 10:56 AM. |

Ladies, I'll join LC too
![]() I don't know why I picked the laughing smiley. I should be crying right now. I need a plan and I need to stick to it. To be honest though, I'm not sure how to do low carb![]() Can you ladies guide me? I'll start Monday![]() Nancy, how fun to go to a Padre game. The D'backs aren't doing as good as they did last month I watch them all the time, though win or lose.Brennie, did you have a nice day? How's your weather? I can't wait to her what your girls did for you for Mother's Day. How was your teacher appreciation lunch? I hope the teachers thanked you! That was really nice of you to do that for them. Nancy, I love to hear about your kids. I'm so happy that your "adopted" son is going to college. Stories like his really warms my heart. Your family is a good example for him to follow. Much to you guys.I went shopping today for my mom. I got her a gift certificate so we can go for some pedicures this summer and a really pretty purse. I put a gift card to Starbucks in the pocket from Lucy ![]() ![]() My godson came over this afternoon with flowers for me and a gift certificate, plus he made me a beautiful vase in pottery class. It is gorgeous. He'll be graduating from high school in two weeks and then goes to ASU in the fall. His mom, my best friend, is making him live in the dorms so he can experience college life. I told her, "be careful what you wish for" ![]() ![]() He's got a good head on his shoulders. Tomorrow my dad and I will take my mom out for breakfast and then my mom and I will go to the casino for a bit ![]() Have a wonderful Mother's Day Brennie and Nancy ![]() ![]() Lynn |

Lynn, I am glad that you are going to join us!! I don't do the diet very effectively, but I did find this site that gives good information. I am afraid to post a link because I don't want a hand slapping, but if you google atkins and phases you get to an Atkins dot com website and it gives a really good description of induction and the other phases. I bookmarked it and will study it myself!! It is a good plan once you get passed the initial change!
How sweet that your godson brought you those goodies and remembered you that way. My son also does pottery and I really treasure the things that he has made. LOL about being exposed to life in the college dorm...that is an understatement!!! I am glad he has a good head on his shoulders. That puts him ahead of most of the freshmen!! I am glad you will be with your mom for mother's day!! Your gift sounds very sweet I was at a friend's house this morning and their dog is also named Lucy!!!The Padres game was lots of fun and they won! It was Maddox's 350th win and Trevor Hoffman saved the game. It was a hall of fame game! The seats were good one and I think the kids all had fun -- even the girls had fun, in spite of themselves I am glad you are a win or lose fan too. Not many people understand that!!I should go to sleep...there is a lot of driving to do tomorrow!! |

Good Morning and Happy Mother's Day!
Nancy, sounds like a fun (but late) night for you! I would like to check that site out too, I have the book and read parts of it the first time but a refresher wouldn't hurt. Have you told DH that you are doing LC? I know he likes it when you do. I think I forgot to mention how much I love that picture you posted, their poses and the colors - so cute! Lynn, The gift for your mom sounds very nice, and the day with her sounds fun!! I got my mom an orchid with 9 buds/flowers and left it on her kitchen table. I will probably get her something else but haven't figured it out yet ![]() The weather here is all over the place, Thursday was sunny and around 87* and yesterday was only in the 60s and very cloudy. Today is supposed to be pretty, sunny and 65*! My husband had to work late last night so he will be sleeping in late and I am not sure what we will do, probably not too much but I know they did make me stuff at school and DH and Ryen (DD9) went shopping yesterday. I didn't stay for the lunch because I had to get Molly ready for school and then get her back up there, I made some artichoke/spinach dip and dropped it off. So, LC for everyone tomorrow! I am scared of what the scale will say ![]() |
