To be honest Jen...Mine never lasted to the second day very often. But I kept them in a rubbermaid container in the frig, then zapped them in the microwave the next day... I liked them better right outta the oven too though.

Ya'll I just had to show off the newest bird to visit me! This one is nested up in the top of the pine tree - saw the male bring her some food today when I was working in the yard, which is what caught my attention because they are fairly large birds, about 2 feet tall with a wingspan of about 44 inches. Best I can tell this one is a yellow crowned night heron. Beautiful!

I seem to have quite a few couples hanging around here lately actually because I keep seeing male and females of quite a few varieties hanging around. I also have a house finch nested in one of my hanging plants right by the front door!! I can't wait till her eggs hatch! The male comes bringing her food and sings and sings till she comes out or he meets her at the front of the nest. Why don't our men do this????? Oh.. and to add to my frog and lizard collection, I now have a turtle wandering around in my backyard. Least I think he is still hanging around! I just love nature!!

Yeah, they can get spongy for sure! What you need to do is let them sit out in the open overnight - this gives them a good drying out. Then bag them in a partially opened ziploc - don't zip it up! And then leave them on the counter in the ziploc. If you don't use them like within 2-3 days you'll need to refrigerate them. I usually only made 6 at a time so I went through them in about 2 days and rarely refrigerated them. Once you do they do get spongy. I really think that adding the protein powder helped with keeping them from getting that mushy texture too.

Mary that icecreamless sunday sounds great! I'm gonna try that.

Jen you look just like a girl here in Oklahoma that Tommie and i have been friends with for years!! I swear ya'll could pass for twins!!!

I guess my husband may take me out for Mothers Day. I decided not to go to my moms. My dads birthday is the 14th so we always celebrate it with Mothers Day. We for two years in a row i get up spend all morning cooking while my two younger sisters are fed breakfast in bed. Well in my opinion if my husband can't help me out the rest of the year i don't expect him to wait on me one day. Anyway my youngest sister just shows up to eat and leaves before we clean up. My DH said i wasn't gonna go over and wait on all of them that day. Plus i live like two blocks from my parents. If i don't go over or call i neve hear from them. They don't even call and check about my kids.
So i'll just keep to myself. I probably need to let it go but basically they are the only grandparents my kids have. My MIL is still alive but she is just crazy! Sorry for the B**ching. Just need to get that off my chest.

I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day!!!

Have fun Shala!!!

Oh Terie you just let it out girl!!! I think you ought to let DH wait on you hand and foot personally, even if it is just one day!! My mom is deceased. I think I'll go put some flowers on her grave, cuz when my aunt passed away recently, my cousin cemented an urn on mom and dad's grave. I don't go there often because it just makes me cry when I do. I called my DIL two days ago to check on Grandson and Son and she asked me what I wanted to do for Mother's Day. Well, I'm thinking they should call me and tell ME what THEY want to do FOR me for Mother's Day!!!! I mean I don't call my MIL and say, well, do you want flowers for Mother's Day??? I just order them cuz I know she loves them! Well now. Guess I had a vent to get out myself didn't I??? You did remind me not to wait around to hear from my DIL but instead to just keep calling her more often than I do....

I told DH if i wasn't it with my family i was gonna spend it with his crazy mother either. If wants to take her out to eat tonight or tomorrow then he is more than welcome to i just shouldn't have to suffer thru it. The last time we all went to eat i had her mad before we got 3miles out of town.

Awwwwwwwww...I wanna be a finch in my next life ..Mary, you and my son would get along sooooooooo well....we have had turtles (RIP Travis), Lizards, Frogs, Moths, Locust (yeah he keeps them in a jar and won't let me throw them away) Rabbits, Dogs, Cats.....I call him the "beast master"....animals are just drawn to him. When he was a little one, around 1 year old, my friend had this pain in the butt horse, the thing would bite you if you got around it...but she loved Rowdy...she would nuzzle him if you brought him up to the corral...I had never seen anything like it....Maybe he is the next Evan Almighty

Well with all the excitement this week, I forgot to e-mail everyone and give them the THEME for Mothers Day... Usually we go Mexican...Italian...Potluck...etc...Well we voted FINGER FOODS!! That way, no one is sitting over a stove half a day...Sandwhiches...chips....roll ups...desserts...etc! Works for me! My sister makes wonderful salsa and another one makes great gaucamole....One of my sisters bought a bunch of water balloons...that gets dirty!! I usually end up all WET!! I don't know why?? I think its because I'm such a big KID!! I'm always picked on!!!

To not leave my MIL and Granny n law out, I have planned a cook out at Granny's house for Saturday night....I gotta work tomorrow, but surely I can run home and whip out something!!! If not, I'll buy a cake!!! Remember...this is the family that doesn't cook anyways!!! Hamburgers and Hotdogs and my SIL is gonna help organize it all. And I didn't ask them, I told them...."HEY...I'm having a cookout for you guys for MOTHERS DAY!"...I might have should've asked! Well its kinda short noticed, but we havent had a family dinner on that side of the family since Christmas!!

Terie's mom is kinda like my MIL...she doesn't EVER come see her Grandkids!! It gripes me about Terie's mom!! She lives 2 blocks away and NEVER comes to Terie's house or even CALLS!! She told my mom once that she had her kids raised...they were on their own and she wasn't baby sitting!! And she doesn't!!! Mom told her that she didn't like going a week without seeing her babies!!! STRANGE!! My MIL doesn't keep my kids either...doesn't pay them a lick of attention. She will occasionally ask the girls to go to church functions with her, but NEVER the boys. They stress her out!! She has kept them TWICE in the last year and I had to ask her both times!! Once was last year on my Birthday and we went out to eat and was gone a total of 1 hour!!! And the other was our Anniversary last year!! And again we were gone maybe 2 hours!!! My mom is the only grandma my kids have!!! Ty got an award at school and I asked her if she wanted to show her Grammy and she said "Why...she doesn't care anyway!" That hurt my feelings sooo bad!! I felt sorry for her! I mean Grandparents are suppose to swoop in and save the day~!! Sorry...I'm on my soap box again!!

Really Shala.. he might just be!

Tommie, BOTH events sound really nice!! Wish I could crash 'em!

My turtle has been circling the perimeter of the yard looking for an escape under the privacy fence. I hope he sticks around personally! I really don't want him to get into my neighbor's yard cuz their dogs will play catch with him!

My other neighbor just brought me another wheelbarrow load of cannas so gotta get them in the ground tomorrow or Sunday I suppose. I've been putting them around the perimeter of my yard. Guess I'll be weeding out too in a year or two!!

I never did figure out what I'm gonna do for dinner tonight. I have some frozen dinners that I use sometimes so can feed DH that with a salad and he's good to go, but even so, don't know what I will eat! Starting to get hungry too!!

Oh Tommie... well my DIL has my ex's wife - I think she looks at her like she's the real grandmother. DIL and her mom aren't too close at all. She is much closer to her grandmother - on her mother's side. For some reason my DIL thinks my son and I weren't close!!! That's cuz by the time she came around my son was at that pushing away stage. She'll see once her own son grows up and then maybe she will understand. Always say what goes around comes around. But, I don't know how I got pushed to the wayside in all this but I did - I'm like an afterthought. Truthfully, I think I'm just a bother to my DIL.

Mary...I really hate to hear that!! She has no clue what she's missing out on!!! My MIL is divorced again for the 7th time! She is more wrapped up in finding her a new man than she is forming a relationship with her grand kids!! But your welcome at my house or my moma's ANYTIME !! You would have a BLAST!! We occasionally have cow patty fights too!!! Mom still raises cows you know!

I must have the best Momma in the world...when I had the twins she kept them for me when I went back to work...I have never left my babies with a sitter or a daycare, they always went to Nanny's house...they still do, just about everyday when I go work out...if I don't bring them out to see her, then she is calling me asking me where her babies are..lol...I am pretty darn lucky

Yeah, ya'll are lucky. I wish my mama were still alive. DIL, well can't do much about that. But STILL, I keep trying. And you know, ya'll do give me some insight into it all. She NEVER calls me - and sometimes I get that attitude that I won't call her either ... but that's just silly cuz she doesn't care!! If I didn't call her I'd NEVER see my grandson!!!! So, I gotta do better in that area. See my ex's wife, she's all over that. She probably calls every day. Makes plans for DIL and DS - which they hate! She's pushy. I'm not. I'm a low maintenance mama!!

My momma kept mine as much as she could too!! I thought they were too much for her and put them in daycare. But she still had a fit and sometimes went and got them from daycare because she couldn't stand not keeping them!!

Mary...You hang in there!! Keep calling....that way she can't say you don't care!! But we love ya....we will be your DIL!! ( is my husband Hot?) hehehe
