Sandy: Yippee on the ketosis!!! That was sure quick. Not to be a troublemaker, but do you like Diet Rite? It is made with Splenda..

I just made a homemade vanilla pudding using cornstarch (2 Tbs.) and Splenda. It has less carbs than the SF Jello kind. I posted it on the recipe bulletin board.
I just bought some diet RC at W-mart today. I'm not particular and I usually only drink pop at restaurants. So I know that'll be out now, lol. Oh well, I read you can save $500 a year by just ordering water instead of a soft drink. I already do that alot of the time anyway. Now I'll just have a good reason. Besides saving $$.

I'll have to go look for the pudding recipe. Did you use your homemade CC milk in it too? I finally remembered to get some powdered milk today so I'm going to try that too.

I got into ketosis in 3 days. Isn't that about normal?

I called my brother and asked him to take Mom to her Drs. appt. tomorrow. I have allergies so bad but I'm worried it might not be allergies and I don't want to risk getting Mom sick again. I feel lousy!

I like pop occasionally - just for the bubbles!

Malibu and Diet Coke is a must in the summer!

We all have to die of something . . .

Ain't it the truth? After visiting the nursing home and seeing those poor very old people just hanging in there..makes me so sad. Maybe we take too much medicine?

Hi Janice..Welcome to our little crazy group..

Sandy: I used my homemade LC milk..it's so much cheaper and always on hand to make.

Can I join you all? I just ordered Barrys new book and it is suppose to be here tomorrow.
I am anxious to get started. I have messed around with Atkins for awhile now and I cant get through induction.

A question though? I don't rink milk, never have. I can eat yogurt, is there an over the counter one I can have, I know I'd never make it. How do you guys get so much fat in without drinking milk? Can I eat an avacodo a day and just use lots of butter on veggies etc, is that enough? LOL I know Im lost.

Oh a quick intro. I'm a SAHM of 2 boy 9 girl 3. My daughter is adopted and has FAS so she keeps me running. My Dh is a mechanic and a wonderful supportive husband.
I also do bookkeeping out of the house, currently I have 5 clients. I am turning 40 on May 31st and not looking forward to it LOL.

Hey, Arlene..Welcome aboard. On the yogurt, you can sure have it. Barry is a purist and would recommend unflavored that you could add some fruit, too. But, I look for the lowest carb ones..sweetened with Splenda.

It is so easy to get the fat in..Olive oil, coconut oil, butter, cream, cheese, meats with fat on them. Avocados are great and butter is good. You might do a FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to
get a handle on how much fat is good for you and to keep your protein in check.

I was a SAHM, too..What's FAS?

Thanks for the welcome. I love my kiddos and would never wanting someone else to raise them. So we cut back and did what we have to to keep me at home. FAS is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Tiff is on the sever side and needs constant line of sight. She is the little one in my Avi.

One more question is it 50 - 60 net carbs?

Hi Arlene -

You have to find your own carb level.
Usually 60 is max.
I can't eat white carbs so I don't get as many in - I also am lactose intolerant, so yogurt is my only milk product.

I get the Dannon regular yogurt and add my own stuff to it - sometimes sf jelly, natural pnut butter, DV syrup, or sf jello is wonderful - and so many flavors!

Oh - no clue!

Probably before subtracting fiber.
I started using Fitday and now I forget how to do it myself!

Hi MK - I just love your morning wake-up calls! Got coffee ready yet?

Welcome Janice and Arlene. You'll love it here - I do!

Well, doing last minute things today for inlaws' dinner tonight. It's cloudy and cool today so at least I won't get overheated. Lost another lb, so that brings 3 for the week. I'm optimistic about my control for tonight but we'll see what happens when the food is in front of me! See y'all later - gotta get busy.

Good morning all,
4 days in a row!! I'm happy. Tonight is dinner and theater with my girlfriends so I'll need to be on my guard and make good choices. Thankfully, ketosis makes those choices easier.

Welcome Arlene!! Tiff looks like a real cutie!

Good morning all..

I'm still "puny", but determined to wean myself off the saltines..I'm having Ginger Aide tea..it is very good for upset tummies..

I don't think there is any fiber in yogurt, so if you can find a yoggie that is less than 12 carbs, that is a good thing, Janice.

MKay: Yeah for your lost!! You can share the loss with us..

Sandy: What play are you seeing? Beth is in charge of the Bloch graduation party tonight..then she said she will have her life back..

Janice: I think MKay is our early riser..she always has wonderful coffee treats to share with us..

Arlene: Good for you..I think a FAS child needs extra love and patience from her mommy.

Shon: 3 pounds this week? Holy smokes..Have fun at the dinner..I'm sure your in-laws will love you for it.

Poot: What's up, gal?

Did anyone watch Survivor last night? Poor Erik was "hoodwinked" by those 4 women..LOLO..But, it was a Life Lesson, so to speak.

My friend (58) is getting married tomorrow to a very nice man (with a great job). Luckily, they have been dating for 3 years, so they really know each other. I will go no matter what. I'm sure I will feel a bit better tomorrow..Luckily, it's right in town..

Hi all! And welcome to the new gals!

Stomach flu here, Danny is down with it and feeling just dreadful. And I woke feeling like I may be coming down with it, myself, but am hoping it's just lack of sleep making me queasy. Fingers crossed!

Hope everyone has a great Friday, and heads into a pleasant weekend. Looks like we'll have rain here, but since we were planning on a quiet weekend at home, that's fine by me. Well, except for the fact that the farmers here are crazy tired of all the rain and wet fields. <g>

Hope to check in with you all later, if my tummy holds out.

As for yogurt, I like Mountain High brand. It is thicker than others. I buy plain with whole milk IF I can find it. (Trouble finding plain whole milk yogurt is the only reason I took the venture in to making my own.) I also take the additional step to drain my yogurt, making it even thicker and getting rid of a lot of the whey. Sometimes I add frozen berries and some Da Vinci Simple Syrup, other times I add unsweetened coco powder and some Splenda. My hubby likes adding lemon juice and a just a touch of Splenda (ewww!).

As for the tummy bugs...take care. If it makes you feel better, mine didn't last long when I had it.
