Sagging abdomen and thunder thighs
Hey guys!
I'm new to the site and to the dieting world! I'm severely overweight and looking to change bad habits and looks! I'm on a weight loss program that entitles me to 500-600 cals and so far I'v lost 15lbs in two weeks! My concern is my stomach/abs. Never mind the ab bulge, mine has turned into a large roll and it so embarrassing! Please, I need all the advice I can get! Also, my legs are not that big but I have pouches on my hips that are very large and not proportioned with the rest of my body! I seriously disgust myself! Any advice would be great. Please note that I have not yet signed up for a gym but intend to do that within the next few weeks. |

Check-out the Callanetics Challenge thread and Callanetics Tips thread! LOTS of great support & tips over there. plus the Teacher posts there too!
You can begin to transform your body in 10-20 hours of Callanetics. It is called "magic". Zero impact deep stretching/pulsing exercise. See you over there! Oh you can order 10/10 and/or Evolution at Amazon.comXO, HB PS: 500-600 calories per day?? that seems VERY LOW. you might want to do some research around this site as to why it's not ideal to keep calories so low...have you ever considered low carb instead of low cal? anyway, whatever you decide to do, best of luck to you! there is a LOT of great info here. just have to do a lot of digging & reading to get the jewels. ![]()

Agreed. Callanetics is the fastest way to shape up that I've seen so far. Look at the B/A pics in the exercise forum. A-mazing. |

I talked it over with my weightloss clinic and they upped my protein cals to 800! I think this will be more suitable for me, seeing as how I could barely function before. Thanks to all of you for your support! I need it more than ever and I'm desperate for ideas, sharing, exercise programs, and anything else that you might think of!

upped total cals to 800 or just protein and you are eating more? If total, that is still not enough!

what are your total calories?
800 cals of protein = 200g (x4) What else are you eating |

Blabbermouth!!!
|
800 protein calories...divided by 4calories/gm ...is 200g...
200g divided by 28 = 7oz Holy cow! Surely you are not eating a scant 7oz of protein a day! That's about a can of tuna or two cans of sardines or three eggs. Could my math be skewed? Sure. I'm definitely mathematically challenged. Could your food plan be skewed, possibly holding back your weight loss? Last edited by Zer : 05-08-2008 at 06:47 PM. |

I eat some sugar free Jello but they told me not to eat that today...I will absolutely not give up that little Jello I eat in a day! They said it has too many carbs! If I ate a ton of it than yes it has some unwanted carbs.. They also told me to stick with veggies and cut out the fruit I was eating....so I get 1 cup thaw veggies off their list, but I don't always get my veggie intake in

Hungry was not the word for it! Then they said do 500 calories. I've been doing 500 calories, but I'm extremely fatigued. So today they upped me to 800 calories and said I wouldn't loose much weight! I've had pretty good results so far, losing 18lbs in 3 weeks, but I'm still wondering if it's worth it! I just don't want to give up because I'm finally freakin motivated to lose weight and I don't want to loose this mojo! |

The handout they gave me includes the calories for the foods I'm allowed to have on the diet...ie: chicken-35 calories/ounce. So I'd spread that out to equal the 300-500 calories they required. Now that I'm up to 800 calories I can eat more chicken! The list of foods contains only lean meats and brand names, a select variety of veggies, and a very select variety of fruit. No sugar what-so-ever, no added carbs, no added anything..There were a few types of seafood on the list as well, but I'm not a big fan of it. I pretty much stick to chicken, besides you get more ounces of it than lean beef! Recently I have added in a little cheese to help get the chicken down and played around with a few herbs they said we could use in moderation. The cheese is not part of the diet, but I read all the labels and have measured everything out properly.

you still dont make sense on what/total cals you are eating.
If you are eating veggies (How much total in a day) and some fruit, you are eating more cals but significantly less than you should be eating. Do you get refeeds/breaks every few weeks? There are SO many other plans available that you can lose wt and not destroy all your hormones in the process. Yes the plan is effective but at what risk, especially your health. If your gunhoe about eating so little and qetting the wt off quick, i'd advise you to look at a plan called PSMF (protein sparing modified fast) which isnt fasting, by lyle mcdonald. It is a low cal/carb plan. Effective but with many built ins such as diet breaks and free meals to guard your hormones. It can be found by googling. There is a great support thread for it at beyond low carb.

I agree with all above posters. I do not believe that hunger is natural. Cravings yes but true hunger is a signal that should not be ignored. I have been very successful (85 pounds!!!) without being hungry. You have wonderful willpower to have gone as far as you have gone but it was so hard for me to go for more than a couple months doing low calorie. It is my opinion and experience that low calorie is just not the right way for long term weight loss. Low carb has been really wonderful because you feel full!!!! yes you still have cravings every now and then but that crazy HUNGRER is gone. I say get rid of that lean beef and just the chicken and jump into the true low carb world. Those fats in beef and other protein is really what keeps you full and you can still lose weight!!!!!!
I started this on jan 16 and it has changed my life!! |

Plain and simple truth here-you are on a starvation diet. I have had WLS and I ate better after my surgery than you are now. You are on a downward spiral to shutting down your metabolism, wrecking your thyroid function, anemia, losing your hair from complications from these things and a whole host of other medical problems. I would start researching the lowcarb realm-there are numerous plans out there. A good book that is an easy and entertaining read is Johnny Bowden's "Living the Low Carb Life" where he explains the premise of low carb eating and reviews 17 or so different plans. There are healthier ways to lose weight than starvation.

I agree with everyone else. I am surprised these "clinics" exist. Please look into Atkins or some other low carb plan. You get to eats lots of great foods and still lose weight! Maybe not as fast but it will be way healthier for you in the long run. Keep browsing this site you will inspired on how many ppl are losing with LC and eating well! Good luck to you!

Go to the library and take out Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution. Chapter 11 talks about Induction - the first 2 week phase of the program. It lists all acceptable and unacceptable foods. Understand that there is no calorie counting when you first start - you can eat as much as the acceptable foods as you like, as long as you are hungry (sweeteners and cheeses excepted). After a few days, your appetite will naturally decrease and you won't go overboard and overeat. (Given what you are eating now, this won't be an issue for you!) This phase lasts for 2 weeks, but you may extend it for as long as you like, as it is the "fastest" weight loss phase. It is also the phase that allows the least choice of foods, so some people find it too restricting.
I would definitely recommend you reading the entire book. Most have reread it many times. There are specific reasons why it works, and you will need to make adjustments as you go along. Most people, for example, do need to monitor calories as they get closer to their goal. Some can tolerate sweeteners, some not. After you've read the book, the "conversations" here will make more sense to you. It's perfect timing for you to start a new way of eating (woe) for the rest of your life! Whether it's Atkins or South Beach or some other diet, you can take the summer to change your eating habits and enjoy your new approach. Good luck!

Curious how much this clinic charges?
I just hate to see folks starve and then get frustrated down the road when their body won't respond and holds on to all the fat and you lose muscle. |

The clinic charges 60bucks a months!!! It's very expensive indeed, and I told them there was no ned for me to come in every week because I'm not taking their appetite suppressants. Other than that, I just go, let them question everything I've eaten, and weigh me. Not worth it every week! I also get a couple shots while I'm there(optional) for an extra fee, so right now I'm trying to work something out with them!!! As for storing fat, I'm on a fat burner and in a months time, have lost 7lbs of fat and 18lbs and counting... I think I'm going to stay on this diet for a while and see how far I can go on it. Once I'm in their 2nd phase, I was going to adapt in Atkins for a healthier approach to life. I know people see that I'm desperate to loose, but I do know the costs..The program has 3 phases. I'm in the first until I shed this extra person I'm carrying. The 4th phase I'll adapt on my own is the Atkins!!!
