I am planning to do the Beginning Callanetics first for a few hours so I can get the hang of it and then move on to the regular Callanetics. I would really like to join in with all of you and get lean and drop this final 14lbs that is hanging around. You are all an inspiration. Count me in from Monday!! So far I have lost 34lbs, but due to ill health and numerous operations in the past year I have not been able to exercise as I would have liked to. Am back and raring to go. I got married in November and have a blessing on May 31st so I wanna look my best for it. I can't think of a better place than this to start...

Good luck to all x

What blessing my I ask are you having May 31st? A baby?

Michelle, I'm getting results and not on atkins or any other diet plan. I can't diet, and simply refuse, it's not for me. I do try to watch what I eat and eat sensible when possible. I'm seeing great results as I went from a size 8 to a size 6 and some 4s but I must admit my stomach still needs LOTS of work. And that could be due to diet.

So I've stopped doing any Callanetics because of the low back pain. Now the pain is getting to be less but it is not gone. Should I attempt Callanetics 10/10? I read that people say this is a good workout if you have some ailments.

Please help me decide.
Fiji,

I would go ahead and do Callan, but with ease and maybe not as many reps, and ease yourself back into it. It will help to keep you flexible as you heal. I wouldn't do the ab work for a few days, maybe hold off on that for a bit. But do all of the stretching for sure. Just go easy.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you so much Twyla. I miss doing the Callanetics. I'm so looking forward to working out again in this way.

ADLMA

Are you drinking PLENTY of water?

Drink up.

If that doesn't help, taking potassium supps will help with that also.

Sounds like it's a dehydration issue to me.

"Many individuals beginning an exercise program, especially if it includes weight training, will lose inches with no change on the scale. Since one pound of muscle takes up less space than one pound of fat, this reflects a gain in muscle that equals or exceeds the loss of fat. Keep in mind that a large gain in muscle may cause clothes to fit tighter and should not be misinterpreted as fat gain." Lyle McDonald

Thought this would be helpful to some of you not seeing scale changes but may be experiencing changes in your clothes.

New here - question about Callanetics

Hi, I'm new here and I found this board just doing a search for callanetics actually.
Anyway, can anyone give me the lowdown on callanetics, does it REALLY do what it says, like slim down the thighs, inner thighs, butt and stomach ??

Those are the areas I absolutely hate and other exercises I've tried does NOT do anything for me. Weight lifting makes my legs bigger and cardio is just too stressful for me, (I just do basic walking every other day).......so is callanetics really something that I should try ?

Thanks.

Paula,

Don't take just my word for it.

I encourage you to read through the April and May Callanetics Challenge on this exercise thread.

Arm yourself with facts, before/after pics, success stories, etc., and you decide for yourself.

It's WORTH YOUR TIME to read through the challenges -- esp the April challenge -- before you make up your mind.

After that, come back and give us your thoughts, and we'll keep you inspired.

How's that?

During finals, I didn't do much Callanetics last month. I'm afraid what I did do before that, I just negated. I'm back at square one.

I'll do Callanetics before I go to bed tonight.

Just completed another hour and I am learning more about form expecially when I do my abs. I got frustrated for a moment b/c everyone seems to be seeing alot of progress . I am happy that others are seeing progress I just get a little down because of my muffin top. Oh can someone please tell me what saddle bags are?

Congratulations to all those who have seen such a change!!!
I did another hour of 10 in 10 and also played badminton with my son for about an hour so maybe that will count for cardio.

Well, I did my fourth hour!
However, the other times I've done it I've really enjoyed it; this time i was cranky and got upset when I couldn't do all the reps etc I'm hoping thats a one off thing! I am proud to be back in the game however

Hey Michelle,

I don't follow Atkins. I DO follow a LC diet. The one I'm on is actually stricter than Atkins, as it has no OWL ladders. I am doing Callanetics.

MARSHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMGOODNESS!
You rawk girl! What a difference! You look like you've had a tummy tuck! No lie! Not only is it amazing how you look, but what's more amazing is that you've not lost weight between the 2 pictures. THAT inspires me even further and it shows that Callanetics is the factor and not weight loss.

Good job Marsha, you look amazing!

1 hour in 10 in 10.

Interesting. I am starting to feel newer, deeper muscles engaging. Really starting to get the lower abdominals on the stomach exercises and my back and neck area are SO much stronger than when I began.

Also, I noticed that I was focusing so much on form tweaks for Hips and Behind #1, that i was forgetting to get my knee high enough. I had stopped feeling the burn in the right place and kept twiddling with my hip roll and behind/pelvis, but had really forgotten to get enough height. That did the trick!

Gotta run. Sorry I can't keep all that well with personals today. Will try to catch up later!
