I'm guessing you are getting in maybe 500-600 calories a day...not good! You will find I am the "don't starve yourself" person cause I always worry that people will mess up their metabolisms (like I have done in the past) and have to eat low cal forever (which bottom line means you will end up gaining it all back cause it's impossible and horrible for your health). Alright, you asked for tough love so I'm givin it! Please don't take offense though, I'm not judging at all, I just get concerned because I know that in the long run the quick fix stuff never works---look at kimkims/kimmers/whatever it's called... How long have you been doing Fast 5? I just downloaded the e-book last week but haven't read it yet. Seems like an interesting concept.

Alisa--so you don't have to huff and puff with TTapp? This sounds like my kind of exercise! I will have to google and check out what exactly is involved in it!

BBL
Yes, I have been losing very rapidly the last three months.

I have done water fasting in the past and it was very successful, (7lbs in 3 days)
so when someone told me about the fast-5, I knew it was a great idea for me.

I am really not hungry at all. I do add heavy cream to diet rootbeer as an occasional treat.
But on Atkins, it is very hard for me to consume a very large quantity.

Someone suggested adding coconut oil to my coffee to increase my cals,
sounds yummy.

There are days when I wake up ravenous,
like after a long run the night before,
so I just listen to my body and eat as much low carb food and I need to feel satisfied
(you are right though, I do gain the next day even though it was all lowcarb).

I will try to keep track of my cals since I burn around 300 daily on my run,
so I really do not want to get fatigued.
Thanks for the advise!

What's that, and I want one too!

Susan~ Teresa has given some exellent advise, and the check will be in the mail soon... Seriously, I'm another non-believer in low calories, it will just mess up your metabolism in the long run, and really, do you only want to be eating 1000 calories for the rest of your life? You also have to be careful with quick losses on the scale, even though it's really nice to see... Statistics show that people that drop the weight real quick, also gain it back twice as fast... Don't know about you, but I only want to have to do this this last time.. Yo-yoing is horrible for your health/body, (actually worse then being over-weight) I try and tell everyone, find a plan that is right for you, that you can live with for the rest of your life... Otherwise, your just gonna be in the same boat again, all over..

Teresa~ I'm with you on this one!

Lisa~ Bout damn time you decided to join your challenge! Wasn't there a thing in the rules, oh wait a minute, it's in the title..
NO EXCUSES! Welcome back chica!

Off to work shortly, will check in later

ETA~ Yesterday's menu

2 C Coffee w/whipping cream
3/4oz Special K cereal
1 glass of skim milk
1/2 banana

2 plain rice cakes
2oz shrimp w/2 tsp LF mayo, red pepper
glass of skim milk
1/2 mango

4oz baked chicken
1-1/2C smashed cauli w/garlic
diet dr pepper (needed a sweet fix)

Keeping myself optimistic

Looking on the bright side
That's what I have to do

Half the battle can be won
With self - appreciation
I shall get there in the end

Negatives will dissapear
By always having patience
I'll continue to persevere

In keeping my dreams alive
I can advance confidently
My self -esteem I can grow

I probably sound like a big baby, but it's how I feel.
I've been where you are before and I know how hard it can be. The other ladies have given you really good advice, so I'll just talk about the exercise thing. I don't believe it will be useless for you. At the very least, it will make you feel better, and at this time you seem like you can use a boost of some exercise endorphins. Plus, an increased activity level means that you can eat and burn more carbs and still lose. You will also give your metabolism a boost if you do some resistance training and build some muscle, which will help you to lose weight more efficiently.

I know it's hard to focus on the positive when you're in a funk, but don't gloss over the fact that you lost 2 pounds and broke a stall!!!! That's great news!!! You are doing an excellent job!! So try not to despair that you can't have these foods, after all they are all LC foods so you probably need to tweak your diet to see the best way you can fit them in.

Yeah....but you get that feel the burn, my arms are gonna fall off, I'm gonna keel over kind of thing going on. Feels good in a masochistic kind of way!

Ok, since you already kicked yourself I'll spare you. But I'll sentence you to a day of cooking and stocking your freezer, so there'll be no more "I didn't/couldn't cook" excuses. You dig?

Susan: Let me chime in my agreement with the anti-low calorie gals. Also, where are your veggies? You need to fuel body adequately, particularly if you run on the treadmill the way that you say you do. Your body will consume muscle if you don't eat enough, which will reflect in a loss on the scale, but is something you don't want to happen. I've read that in low-cal diets that 30 - 50% of the weight loss is actually loss of muscle tissue. This acts to further ruin your metabolism, there is less muscle to burn calories over time and you get diminishing returns. So you need to eat to lose fat.

OK ladies, I gotta go take my own advice and cook!
BBL.....

Lucy, If your adding things back in, (going up the carb ladder) Dr A suggests to add in 1 thing at a time.. Most people add in higher carb veggy's, nuts, berries, in that order... Add an extra 5 carbs, with the new item, and do so for a week... Then add in the next item, (so it will be an extra 10 carbs by then) for another week...You should continue to loose, but slow down... When you stop losing, you are at what he calls your CCL (which you'll need to know anyways, for maintaining later on down the road)
You can't just all of the sudden, try 3 new things at once.. You are also seeing at this time, if your body can handle that new food...
I know it's frustrating as hell, but hang in there chica...Practise makes perfect, and we are here for you....

Sooooo, Lisa finally made it here! How have things gone since the Special K? Personally I never feel guilty when I eat stuff I probably should avoid--things happen. I just get angry at myself when I let it spiral out of control....there is no need for letting that happen, but as you know, I do sometimes!

Anna--yay on the exercise!

Lei--are you going to by pass me on the scale tomorrow? I suspect you will!

I'm going to go and veg out for awhile--boy it has really felt like a Monday today and I'm wiped out!

I did not run tonight. I have no excuse.

Susan---yes, that menu looks great!

Lei--I promise I won't kick or scream (well except maybe YIPEEEEE!) if you drag me with you! So, what happened to your 4 days on, 3 days off work schedule? I would love that schedule!

Alisa--drink that water lady!!

Hello everyone else! Get your buns in here today and tell us what's happening--and ask some questions, tell some jokes, etc. We need to liven things up a bit!

Weigh in: 158.0 so down a bit and TOM started today (just what you wanted to know, right?!) so I'm OK with this. Most of my mysterious swelling is gone, thank goodness, so I'm guessing I had a 2-3 lb fat gain from my couple days of eating like a crazed sugar freak last month. I leave on vacation in like 10 days and would really really like to be back to 155 before I go....we'll see!

M1--apple cinnamon OMM w/cream cheese
M2--egg casserole
M3--white castle pie and steamed cauli
M4--pork tenderloin, lettuce salad and jello fluff

Yes, I am getting bored already with this kind of eating! But, I'm really going to try to hold out for a few more days before adding too many of my favorites back in. I'm also not thrilled with the 4 meals a day but I'll give it a few more days and see if I can get use to it.

Lisa--how are things going??
