Well I am stuck in the house going crazy with this yucky snow. I made these pb and j cookies today LC of course. They are awesome. My son raved about them I also made Bread, not that I eat it but I would rather make it for the hubby and son than buy that junk from the store with who knows what in it. I want to try the LC bread recipe in the Eades low carb comfort foods cookbook, but I forgot to get vital wheat gluten. Has anyone ever tried it?

Dharma: Thanks for the welcome.

sbaquera78: I also make bread for my family, but oh would love to have some nice and warm with the butter, but not giving into it.

I love the low carbing and the results that it gives me.

I am with you mary. It isn't worth it for me. My sugar just goes nuts and then I am crabby. Definitly not worth it.

Hi everyone! Do you mind another member? I've been doing the closest thing I know to Protein Power, for two weeks, tomorrow. So far, I've lost 8-pounds. Tomorrow morning is my official 2-week weigh-in, but this is "my time of the month", and I'm afraid I've gained a few water weight pounds. Thankfully, I weighed on my 12'th day, and that's when I had lost the 8-pounds. So, even if I've gained a few tomorrow, I won't be disappointed.

I've ordered "Protein Power" (the book), from ebay. The seller said it shipped May 25'th. It must really literally be SNAIL MAIL. I hope I get it Monday.

I am SO excited about this. I've done it several times before, and it works, and I don't know why I don't just stay on it. This time, is for the rest of my life. I'm finding so many recipes, that I will NEVER have to do without something that I want. I am not a cook...I married a Chef. But, I am so excited about cooking "Low-Carb", that I am cooking like crazy.

I really am a horrible cook. I've never really cooked, so I just don't have experience. My mother taught me how to make reservations, and I taught my daughter the same thing. I was a single mother for so long, it was easier (and almost as inexpensive), for us to eat out or get take-out, almost all of the time. That's what's wrong with my eating habits.

Now, DH is giving me cooking lessons, on occasion...the rest of the time, I just read the recipes and do exactly what it says. Usually, it works out really well. Tomorrow, we are both off work, and he is going to help me make my first "Oopsie Rolls". After I master that, I can start playing with the other "Oopsie Recipes", all by myself.

Does anyone use any sugar-free flavored syrups? If so, what are your favorite brands? I'm going to check the health section of my grocery store, and also Starbucks...don't know if they sell bottles of their SF Syrups.

Thanks! Well, as expected, I had gained about 3-pounds, overnight. I'm not the least bit worried, though. I know that those pounds (plus another pound or two), will be gone in a few days.

Great job on the weight loss. Don't worry about the water weight. I like the Da Vinci syrups BTW. Have a wonderful week.

I have not tried DaVinci's yet and I don't use any Splenda at all, but I will cave in and get some of this stuff soon enough.

Have a great day everyone.

Well, I finally got my "Protein Power" book. That was the longest ebay shipment, I've ever had.

Anyway, I'm off work today, so I'll probably do some reading.

I had kept my weight down low carbing for 6 years and have gained 8 pounds this year.I am in my 40's and believe I may benefit from portion control and maybe more variety.I really hate journaling and don't buy pre-prepared food.I found the carb count chart in the PP book is it on line anywhere?

I don't believe that it is on line anywhere, but try your local library if you don't want to buy the book. I found my book at a thrift shop for way cheap.

I have the book.Just wanted something mobile I can print and keep in my purse or on my blackberry.Guess I will have to Photo copy the book.I started today wish me luck.

I understand the carb count 55 a day I am about 14% over what the book says I should be but don't quite understand where to find how many proteins something is.I calculated my daily intake to be 44, 15 a meal.Is it the number next to the portion in parenthesis on the effective carb content table? Is the protein count very important? How is this different than counting carbs. Will it work if I just count the carbs?

Please give me feedback.Obviously I am an former Atkins person since 2002 .

Well I count my protein and carbs. This has worked well for me. I am not sure about the book because I have loaned it out to a friend....always happens when someone has a question...sorry. I track everything in fitday. I have noticed though that fitday puts in all the carbs, not just net carbs. Gotta watch that.

Hope this WOE works for you I love it I like that I have more freedom than Atkins. There are too many weird rules on that one.

WELL I SEE YOU FIGURED OUT HOW MANY GRAMS OF PROTEIN YOU NEED. ALL YOU NEED TO KEEP IN MY MIND IS FOR EVERY OUNCE OF MEAT IS USUALLY ABOUT 6-7 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. SO IF YOU KNOW MORE OR LESS HOW MUCH A PIECE OF MEAT WEIGHS, JUST TIMES IT BY 6 OR 7. AND AS FOR HARD CHEESES I BELIEVE IT'S ABOUT 6 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. AND SOFT CHEESE IS ABOUT 4G OR 5G OF PROTEIN (I THINK). 1 EGG WHITE IS 4G OF PROTEIN AND 1 WHOLE EGG IS 6G OF PROTEIN. ACCORDING TO THE BOOK IT'S O.K. IF YOU GO OVER THE "MINIMUM" PROTEIN REQUIREMENT. SO DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT THAT. JUST TRY TO KEEP THE MEAT LEAN. IT'S MORE EFFECTIVE FOR WEIGHT LOSE. ESPECIALLY IN THE BEGINNING PHASE. HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL

I'm coming out of lurkdom....!! Hey everyone

I have the original PP book and the 30-day book. I'm really wanting to try the 30-day book to give it a good go. I just know my portions (on Atkins) of low-carb foods are wayyyy too much. It is appealing not to have to give up some fruit right at the start, well that and the wine occasionally is pretty inviting

Would love to hear some success stories and see this part of the board light up!

I like the original PP book. The other ones are good, but I found this at a thrift store and picked it up. I really like what it had to say.
