Afternoon Guys,

just got done eating breakfast egg, ham and cheese on a opsie roll made w/ricotta. I think I may need to make a large batch of these. They do make a nice sandwich.
I'm up a little today too. But not worried to much pepperoni. I,m going to some Black and Blue ball tonight not sure what they'll be serving for eats, hopefully it won't be pasta. Well gotta run literally later Ed

Good evening to all.

Well made it thru Friday night. This diet is a cake walk for me during the week, honestly I just enjoy how simple it is. Weekends however are a killer. Mentally I just sabotage myself. Well got home tonight and immediately guzzled down a protein shake to at least fend off any hunger. My wife and daughter wanted to go to the mall. Food courts stink. Ended up with a burger, no roll. Did the treadmill for a bit yesterday and just some push ups, squats today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hey all, I just picked up the latest issue of Men's Health and was reading it today while donating plasma. There is an article near the back about type 2 diabetes and how it effects all sorts of people.

A large chunk of the article talks about how the ADA just came out and recommended a low carb diet as a primary treatment for type 2, specifically the atkins diet. I would HIGHLY recommend picking up this issue and giving it a read, some interesting stuff in there.

Checking in. This week my diet has not been too good, but I am keeping my exercise routine on track. I'm not expecting to see much loss for monday. I am not going to beat myself up over it, I just need top refocus and move forward.

Welcome slatman.

Good luck Ken and CTIgrad with your employment opportunities.

Good Morning Camp Charlie!!!

Wow! Look at all the new guys! Way to go on the monthly losses everyone!!!! I am so relieved not to step in here to a speedo fashion show this visitors' day! I got back to goal myself this past month .. now just to stay there, lol!

Corpuscave ... Although I love cardio, running mostly, I do both heavy duty cardio and heavy weights (weights @ 4x week) .. I totally agree that muscle is where it's at ... I always remind myself that the more muscle I carry, the more energy my body needs (read: food!) even while at rest ... More food? I'm there! And of course, while losing weight, the more muscle, the more fat a body burns even at rest ..

Wall ... M&Ms are made from reconstituted mouse poo and sugar, you don't want to go there ...

KUTGW Everyone!!!! Keep this a speedo-free zone!!!

See ya next week!

Hey everyone, hope you're having a great weekend thus far. I notice on this thread that a lot of people seem to weigh themselves an awful lot. I'm just curious how that works out for you guys.

When I started Atkins (the first time) I weighed myself almost every day for a bit but then got discouraged since my weight fluxuated daily. I switched to weighing myself every Monday and that seemed to give a more accurate reading of overall loss.

Is there a benefit to weighing more often?

It would be smarter for me to weigh in once a week, but I like going on the emotional rollercoaster ride.

I always say I am going to start only weighing on monday's, but I am not sure if I can break the habbit.

I weigh myself about every other day or so. I'm not so tied to it thankfully.
But every Monday and Friday for sure.

8000 ft climb on the bike today pretty much toast for the rest of the day
120 miles for the weekend..

I weigh in the mornings but my weight varies too much (hydration & carb loading) so I just compare Monday's weight to the previous Monday's weight etc..rather than day to day

Hey guys,

So yesterday I had my first beer in a long time. It was a Killian's Irish red. Damn was that good. And the best part I stopped with the beer after that first one. I was at a grad party, so there was plenty of booze around. I contented myself with a few shots of Knob Creek whiskey, and a few pulls from a bottle of Tequila. Spaced out over a few hours it was actually quite reasonable. I've found that I enjoy drinking a lot more now that I don't wake up hugging a toilet.

OobaTooba: Don't beat yourself up over one slip up, but be damn sure you don't let one slip up become one week worth of slip ups.

Wall: see my note to Ooba

TaDa: Congrats on getting back to goal. You are quite the inspiration.

Corpus: I weogh on Mondays and sometimes on Fridays. Any more than that is unhealthy for me.

Cheers,

Late night check in.

So this weekend was Springfest at the college I graduated from, and as I still live in town, and it was also my birthday, I decided to partake. Started drinking at 8am on saturday and stopped about 3am that night. Good day over all, but bad as far as eating goes. I hit the diet hard today, and spend a good 2 hours at the gym, by I dont think even that will save the week for me. Im expecting a gain, but not really sure how much. Figured your bday only comes once a year so WTH.

Over all I'm still feeling good, and still adding the miles to my run. Took another 30 seconds or so off my 2 mile time so thats good. Did some lifts today as well, and those have suffered, need to get back into that.

I head down tomorrow to Fargo for a drug screen for the FAA. Passing that I'll get my full physical in the next week or so, that should be a real tell tale of how well this diet is going. Im off to work. See you all tomorrow.

Monday weigh in.
4/28 - 220
5/5 - 217

Didn't do formal workouts as much this week. Did the Y Monday and golfed 18 holes yesterday. It was my birthday too this weekend so spent a lot of time getting house ready for visitors and babysitters. Went off plan yesterday drinking a bunch of beer and treating myself to chinese. It tasted bretty bad, actually...so no satisfaction outa eating crap food.....oh well. Steaks tonight at the in-laws woooot. Gonna try to hit it hard this week. I play in a band and we have a gig this weekend. Wanna look good.

I did hit a personal goal tho on Saturday. I managed to get into one of my newer pairs of 38" jeans. Been wearing 40's for like 2 years now. Next goal: my 36's. and ultimately my 33's. (They all used to fit me at one time or another) I'd rather judge success by my clothes than using the scale.

For the first time since I re-inducted, the scales didn't move this week. 224.5 for the second week in a row. I did lose half an inch of my chest and waist though and my ketostix are dark purple so I know something good is going on!

Hey congratulations to everyone who lost and for those of us who didn't, keep it up! (not that way, pervs)

Hi Guys,
Looks like there is good springtime progress and year-to-date progress in some cases.
Ken , I like the 10 lb. challenge - it should be a standard for guys with 40 -50 or more pounds to lose.
Charlie was originally conceived as a really fat guy forum with good loss per month as incentive and requirement. It opened as a guy-wherever-you-are-at forum and all in all has been a force for good.

As to M&M's - There is the little known super-fine print clause in the CampCharlie regs that addresses such. To wit, M&M's MAY be mouthed and spit out only WHEN you reach GOAL and ONLY in the following fashion:
(see pic)
