Lil, I can't even imagine running .3 of a mile, let alone 3 miles. I'm genuflecting in your general direction, OK?
Is it possible that you've upped your training a bit so your muscles are holding onto water (hence the weight thing?) Even if not, I do know that if I gain water from a salty meal or what have you, it takes a few days to finally vanish. I think I'm part camel or something. Check your back for a hump -- that may explain why the water is sticking with you a while. |

Mary Kay is our photographer..Where do you get this stuff?
Well, did the funeral dinner..only had 24 people show up, but that was fine. I planned pretty well, so we had some leftovers for the family, but not overwhelming amounts. Gary got home from his retreat..we went to see Betty who thinks there is a conspiracy going on the in the nursing home. The little ladies next door were having a loud discussion about one stealing the other's husband..It's like the Twilight Zone there sometimes. Making Scotch Eggs for Gary's breakie.. Catch ya tomorrow.

Carolyn - I'm just very talented!
![]() Yeah - the oldsters get paranoid now and then - my mom thinks I'm conspiring against her sometimes . . . DD21's dance performance was good. Now I'm just waiting on DS15 and his friend to get home from the movies so I can put my jammies on . . . |

Mornin All
Thanks for all the support of my running! Y'all are too sweet! Today my baby is two! I cant believe it! He is definitely a terrible two already however! Sadly, I think I am about the same weight I was after he was born and the extra fluff falls off. SO, I've got to get down to work here! I am about 20 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant. By last July I was down about 15 lbs but I have put them back on, not sure how I did that [some on vacation, some from holidays maybe?] but I need to get rid of them... Friends coming over for pizza and Elmo cupcakes, I will have wings and salad which will also be served. I also have my boot camp class [second one] at the gym. Yikes. I am nervy, it was HARD last week, although I did love it.

Hello!
Hi everyone!
I've just got the book and am thinking of having a go at EFGT! It sounds very like Atkins with extra carbs! ![]() Can someone tell me though, is it possible to keep the carbs to max 60g, keep the fat high and NOT have to calculate calories/fat/carbs etc? I'm really looking for a plan that I can sort of relax into, and not get myself too stressed out about counting lots of things , or having to put it all into some programme to work it all out for me! I just want to eat what I'm allowed and try to forget that its a diet! Does that sound do-able? Thanks for your input! ![]()

I only do an occasion check on the whole carb/fat/protein thing just to make sure I am not off track. I use Fitday. Other than that, I just count the carbs. You may need to track fat for a little while until you get used to what the ratios MEAN...ykwim?

Hi gang,
Welcome, Jacqui..Well to be truthful..some of us can't do 60 carbs a day..Its very individual as Barry has said. He just don't think people have to have practically zero-20 carbs for us to lose. And, watch the protein..That's his big message as you will see in the book.. Elmo cupcakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lil: What a fun party for you and your family... Happy 2 year old!!! Glad the dance performance went well, MKay..I just planted my tiny garden..Gary promised he would help, but he fell asleep..I'm not worried, cuz I will "get him in on the weeding part".. Had Mexican for lunch. I was bad..but I took home 80 percent of my main course salad. I don't think I will eat dinner tonight.. Hi to everyone out there in Barry land.. ![]() |

Anyone here a "refrigerator pickle" fan? I just posted a low carb version on my blog. I make these every summer...and so did my mom. The low carb adaptation was pretty simple...and I also included links to some creative variations I found on the web.

Hi again!
Thanks for the replys girls!!
So, UP TO 60 grams carbs a day - ok I can do that! Also, it looks like I should spend the carbs on mainly healthy carbs but can sometimes have a treat! I really miss crackers, so presumably that is ok, but I suppose I should pick the lowest carb ones. Really also looking forward to white stilton with apricot! Yummy! I'm sure I'll be back to pester you again soon! Thanks |

It's not a very happy Monday here I'm afraid. Mr. Tanita is exacting his revenge for my wild weekend. I'm up, up up!! I'm up to my highest weight in a year!! What is wrong with me? Why can't I get myself back in control? This is the longest I've been out of control in probably at least 3 years. I really, really need to work on this and make the changes I need to make NOW. I think I'll reread Barry's book today. Maybe he'll reinspire me to get going again.
Sorry for being a downer on your Happy Monday. But I am a child of the 60s and one of my fav songs was Rainy Days and Mondays by The Mamas & The Papas, lol.

Thanks for the trail of bread crumbs, zilla. I was not on the web all weekend. Been reading a book called:
Coconut Oil Miracle By Bruce Fife, N.D. Wow! What an eye opener this book is too. Especially since years ago, I lost about 60 pounds eating low carb with low fat. Even though Atkins recommends eating fat and suggests one would lose better if they embrace fat, I was so confused because of all the controversy that I decided I would do both low carb and low fat simultaneously. It worked. I lost two pounds a week just like clockwork. I didn't do the starvation kimmer plan and ate plenty of low fat protein and non-starchy veggies, but the low fat thing caused gallstones and I had to have my gallbladder removed and since low fat for any length of time is pretty hard to do, I finally just said the heck with it until I gained the weight back plus some. Well, to skip the long scientific explanation, Especially anyone without a gallbladder should read this book and consider eating coconut oil which goes straight to the liver - doesn't need bile for digestion thus fat soluble vitamins eaten really do some good +++++ plus medium chain fatty acids (the kind in coconut oil) also provides instant energy to those of us who are insulin resistant and also speed up the metabolism. For me, this book is certainy a godsend because I have no gallbladder AND I am insulin resistant. After being in ketosis for a while, I was starting to really drag on my bicycle riding - but boy when I added coconut, WOW! Lots of energy to bicycle with this weekend - no carbs necessary. You guys probably already know this stuff, but just in case someone doesn't or there is a newbie who doen't know yet, thought I would rattle on about it. I also got some unsweetened coconut and sprinkled it on top of salad, made some chocolate coconut bark, and made some cauliflower with coconut milk curry. Haven't tried opening another coconut yet, but in the book, he said after making two holes with an ice pic and draining the water out of the coconut, put the coconut in a corner, and use a hammer AFTER wrapping the coconut in a towel. A towel. Of course. Now I remember - my mother used to wrap it in a towel before hammering away. |

I was going to buy an ice pick but just realized I already have a drill so I am going to use a fat drill bit and drill two holes, then drain the water. I'm sure an ice pick dosn't cost that much, but I think the drill bit will give me more control.
Meanwhile, I bought some coconut oil and this guy has some coconut recipes in his book that use shredded coconut, coconut oil and/or coconut milk. Tonight, I'm going to fry chicken with coconut oil after I roll it in shredded coconut. I wonder if I should dip it in beaten egg before rolling it in the shredded coconut first? Free....I loves me some coconut. I make coconut milk smoothies all the time and also use coconut milk as a seafood chowder base. Coconut bark gets me through cravings in a snap, and unsweetened coconut flakes (the large ones) are a good nibble snack.
Sandy, sorry you are having a rough time. Just curious, but where are your fat levels at? Do you supplement with fish oil at all? What about D3? B vitamins? You've had a lot of stress lately and your body may just be burning through everything leaving you open to cravings. If you are already taking fish oil, you may need to boost your dosage for a while.
