Hi everyone. I feel like I've been MIA on here - I 've been reading, but not very many posts. I'm having a hard time just b/c I really, really don't feel hungry - what a problem, right?? But with what I've been eating, I just feel like I should have lost more lately, and I have not!! Anyone ever heard of a stall on your 2nd week?? HA! I did weigh at the dr yesterday, and I was 243, and I'm not weighing again until May1. Maybe I'm not getting enough calories?? I don't think that could be - Like yesterday, I ate: B: 1 hb egg, 1/2 tsp of peanut butter, L: 2 (small) dbl cheese burgers w/ mustard and pickles and, of course, no buns, D: a good sized salmon steak. I felt like I needed a snack before bed just b/c it had been a while since I had eaten, so I seriously ate like 5 peanuts. I have not exercised since Thursday, so maybe that's it. But really, I have tried to eat some things that usually I love, like this chicken salad w/ 0 carbs, and man, I just had to throw it away.
I also need to get a digital scale - when I finally broke down and bought one, I went cheap and did the old kind. My eyes aren't great, so I can't exactly tell what line it's pointing to!! I know that it's not going up, so that is so good!! But I just feel like it should be going down, down, down!! I am keeping in mind that my habits and sticking to it will pay off, and I know that maybe I need to adjust something in my diet, but w/ my appetite right now and my lack of motivation, I don't know what else I can/ will do - any ideas?? I know that water makes the difference. I am a water drinker in the evening - that's all I want. I had 90 oz yesterday, and that is very, very good for me! Sorry - still hanging in there, just wondering what is up w/ my scale as well as my attitude! ![]()

I'm just looking for that feeling of 'I can just feel myself shrinking' that I had mentioned before on here - I think I'll go for a long walk tonight - I know I'll feel better.

Cara - You definitely need to add some veggies to your diet. If you're doing Atkins, you need 3 cups salad vegs or 2 cups salad veg/1 cup other veg. Very important. Also your b/k of 1 hb egg & .5T pb seems skimpy. I'd be starving! And if you're doing Atkins, I'd lay off the pb & nuts till you're on that rung of the carb ladder. I'd bet the burgers were full of sodium - you may be retaining water. Also the case if TOM is near. Your loss in 2 weeks is impressive, so don't worry. A stall is no loss of either weight or inches (be sure to measure if you haven't already) for 4 weeks. Your body is still getting used to this new woe and will probably want to revolt at first
It'll come around Quote:

Jennifer - you're so right - actually, I've been eating a ton of spinach and salads - yesterday was kind of a fluke. I am going to steer clear of the nuts/pb. Also, it's so hard for me to cut out the hb patties, etc. as it seems like low carb is one of the only woe that I can actually go to a restaurant and still eat - I was at BK w/ my kids, and that is what I had b/c I tried a salad from Wendy's the other day and it was sitting in about 1/4 inch of water - it gave me a stomach ache! Anyway - excuses, I know!! But I'm just going to be more prepared - and really, already, I am cooking so, so, so much more at home - and of course that is a benefit for my family, too - they are eating more fish and raw spinach than ever - yay!
I've just got to quit making excuses!! I swear, when I start drinking my water, I feel so much better! I haven't measured yet - Jennifer, that is the 2nd time you have said that, and you are so right - I wish I had done it already. I need to find/buy a measuring tape b/c I do feel like my clothes are looser. Does anyone have any other ways of preparing/seasoning the allowable foods that I might not have tried yet? I'd be glad to hear any suggestions! thanks girls - as always - you help me! ![]() |

Scrambled egg or devilled egg 2 or 3 strips bacon Sometimes cheese in the egg (and sometimes 2 eggs) Lunch: When I am working typically: cheeseburger 2 strips bacon lettuce slice of tomato caesar side salad caesar dressing (2 carbs) Dinner:Meat, poultry or fish 1 0r 2 veggies (if only one veggie -lots of it) - substitute small salad with ranch dressing for one of the veggies about 2 times a week. Snacks: peanuts, sf jello, porkskins, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, cucumber, raw cabbage, raw broccoli w/ ranch dressing, High Fat balls, Davinci chocolate syrup and/or Blue Bunny ice cream popsicles (1 or 2 net carbs -- usually have the Blue Bunny about 3 times a week) Have 2 or 3 snacks a day. EDIT to add that I also love the Atkins coconut bars and have one 2 - 3 times a week. Lots of folks have told me that I should not eat the bars, but I am happy with my rate of losing and love the coconut treat. Guess I will re-evaluate that if I ever have a stall. ---STALL is a bad word!! -Drink lots of Crystal Light, water, and occasionally cf diet mtn dew. Slim Diva, 11 lbs is awesome!! ![]() ![]() Hang in there Cara. My first two weeks this woe, I lost a total of 9 lbs, week 3 and week 4 I lost zip, zero, nada. Week 5 through current, I am averaging 4 - 5 lbs a week. I believe my body had to just get used to woe. Best wishes to all. Magickal, got my yard mowed this evening too. You're right, it is great exercise! ![]() Hope everyone has a great hump day tomorrow and I will see you tomorrow to post my total loss for April. Good night for now.

), but measuring is in many ways a better indicator of your progress than the scale. Did you hear my shorts story? I had a pair of shorts that were tiiiight. Muffin top, poochy tummy, couldn't sit in them, etc. From the time I bought them until the time they fit well enough to wear, I lost a whole 1/2 lb. 1 8oz pkg cream cheese Soften both slightly and mix well, add Splenda (6-8 pkts), and can add cocoa. Shape into balls -- I usually divide into 15 - 20 balls. 2 or 3 balls drizzled with DaVinci chocolate syrup tastes wonderful to me. Have also added a couple crushed pecans and heavy whipped cream -- Was good too with no cocoa or chocolate syrup -- instead sliced strawberries and the cream. These seem to satisfy any cravings. I usually make a batch up a couple times each month... don't make them every week, cause I would probably eat them all the time if I did.... ![]() |

Jennifer and Fancy - Thank you!
FF, you don't know how much that helps me to hear your actual weight loss - I just need to be reminded that I'm not doing this for nothing, you know? Jennifer, you are so, so right - another reason to not only trust the scale. My daughter as absconded my sewing kit w/ my measuring tape!! I WILL get one and measure tomorrow. BTW, I was reading that Hottie Challenge thread and saw you are in Houston. I'm in Amarillo! Not that we're neighbors, but fun to see someone else from Texas. I have 2 really good friends who have moved to Houston and another is moving shortly! I didn't get to walk tonight - sick little boy and my husband had to work late. But I am drinking tons of water tonight, and I just made up my mind that I am going to quit being lazy and making excuses! But at the same time, I'm not taking away from what I've done - if I did nothing else - I've drastically changed my woe already, and I know that I'm eating much healthier! Keep up the wonderful work, ladies!! I already have a goal weight that I want to lose in May, and I know that I'll have to work hard for it. good night! ![]() Last edited by cara34 : 04-29-2008 at 08:44 PM. |

ff - Those sound wonderful! Do you put them in the fridge or freezer to harden before eating?
cara - I kept meaning to ask you where in TX you are! Are you from here? I'm from New Orleans but have been here 15 years in June. |

I am from Amarillo. My husband and I lived in Austin for 4 years, but, for some strange reason
came back to Amarillo. We loved Austin - we had our daughter there, and didn't have any family or good friends around, so we came back. |

ok weighed myself im down 3 pounds I think working in the yard paid off in a big way..so im 3 pounds away from being at 299 today is the last day of the month gonna excersize and try to make it a great one... be back later to post menue...
Jennifer - ur such a great inspiration , i also lost 100 pounds before and gained it all back plus some and took me a long time to get back on and get it off, I know ill never go back to that again just too hard to keep going back n forth ive read so much of ur posts and its so similiar to me , ur doing great and I know we will make it and maintain it , I really think that 11 month stall taught me more about my eating than actually losing weight taught me how to feed my body at different levels and i had to learn portion controll that i nevr had, im a binge eater and I think that was the biggest lesson I learned was to know if I had something off plan it wasnt all for all and eat till i couldnt stand myself and fall asleep from being miserable was seriously a lesson i needed to learn , patience is a very hard tool to learn, and i was so frustrated , but now im losing again with new tools and I learn so much more about my body and what it needs , and i feel i succeeded this time even if I havent reached goal..... I also have this determinatiion now that i wont lose this battle , its the only thing i can controll in my life and I hang on to that for sanity lol ..I love the feelin of helpin others and I love when someone reaches out to help me , this can be such an isolating journey. even tho I started the hottie challenge late like almost a week late i love lookin at the chart i see u there and it makes me wanna do good and I push myself cuz I dont want to let noone down u have souns advise and i enjoy each of ur posts and i hope to be on another challenge with u after that one , I think that helps me so much to know I am in a challenge, does it u? cara - ur doing great hon , lil fine tuning and u will be doing even better , thats what this is all about learning ur body..... fancy - u are incredible keep up the work shuga!!!!!!!!I didnt make it too 300 but im dang close im gonna try very hard to make this last day a great one. so we will see in the morning ...... today is my 10th day on stillmans so tomorrow ill be cyclin into atkins so lookin forward to some veggies for 2 days then back into stillmans ......I got a vacation planned in october and i want to look my best so ill be doing this till then......ive dont this since easter and im enjoying very much but how I mis peanut butter omg sounds so yummy!!!ill have it the day i get on the plan as my reward lol ![]() |

Wow, what great posts. So much information from those of you that are use to low-carbing. Thanks for the advice.
Cara, water is so important in losing weight. I have to remind myself daily. It's best not to get upset with stalls. If you are following your diet, that's all that matters. The weight will come off....sometimes out bodies get stuck a bit, then before you know it.....whoooooosh! Magic and Jen, 3 lbs, just 3 lbs. I am so happy for both of you. I am excited to weigh tomorrow. This 5 day challenge flew right on by. I am so drinking my water. I cannot go an hour without making a trip to the bathroom. Today's Menu: Breakfast: 5 sausage links Snack: broccoli/cauliflower, then a handful of peanuts....oh darn PMS! Lunch: slice of taco meatloaf, 1/2 cup green beans Snack: broccoli/cauliflower Dinner: rest of meatloaf, 1/2 cup green beans Snack if needed: handful of peanuts or fried cheese. Extra water, meatloaf is salty. I will try Linda Sues taco seasoning next time. Thanks Jennifer. 3rd bottle of water down, 3 more to go. Have a nice day. Cindy |

Another one bites the dust!!
61 days until my birthday. I am at 283.4... and would like to be at 250 by the big 4-2! That is 33.4 lbs. That is a lot of weight to lose in 61 days. So I am just aiming at it as a target, but if I don't get there by 6/30, I will be SO CLOSE!! My diet is still ok I think. Here is what I had yesterday. B-spinach and cream cheese omelet L-Chargrilled Chicken Club from Chic-fil-a w/o bun... but added 2 mayo packets. Those mayo packets have sugar so each is at least 1 carb. S-peanuts. AND I found a DIVINE coffee drink. It was SF dark chocolate syrup, espresso, skim milk (could I have had whole??), and ice and frappee!! MMMMM!!! D-grilled tilapia and sweet potato I usually have more green in my day, but it just didn't work out yesterday. And of course there was a lot of water involved.
