How was everyone's weekend? I spent most of it out shopping for shoes - I was dead tired Saturday. We left the house about 10am and got back about 4:30. I did manage to get 2 pairs of sandles at the last store we went to. I'm real picky on shoes, plus I have wide feet which makes them harder to find to fit.

My eating was fairly good, at least I got to keep the 2 lbs loss. I was almost scared I screwed it up.

Gratz on your 2 lbs Kim! How are things going with DH? Good I hope, I have been thinking of you.

I will be pretty busy so won't be posting as much but I'll still be around! I ate well over the weekend but haven't been feeling great. Hope everyone is doing great! We wanted to set up the jungle gym Garrett got this weekend but it was ugly out and I wasn't feeling too good so it'll have to wait till next weekend.

Hey Kim!! Wow... it's as quiet here today as it was all weekend. Congrats on those two pounds!! WTG!!! Looks like increasing your carbs did the job.

I had a great and relaxing weekend myself!! Thanks for asking.

I am also happy to report that I dropped 2 pounds last week too for a total of 8 pounds lost in the month of April which is when I started eating a more balanced diet. Slow, but it works for me. My body is really liking the changes too (for any lurkers, I'm not doing '72 or even Atkins - just still hanging around like a bad haircut! ) and I'm really happy that I have been able to incorporate ALL foods back into my diet, without creating any binges.

I was very proud of myself for being able to have a single slice of pound cake and not eating the whole cake!! I sliced the entire loaf up and froze it but honestly I haven't had another slice! And there was a large slice that I left out in plastic wrap on the counter for DH, and it sat there for a couple of days but I had no desire to even touch it, so that's a good thing!! And, I could not have said that 6 months ago. I know that I will always have to track everything though because if I don't know where I am with my foods, I'll get off track again. At any rate, I am happy that the weight is moving and that I'm feeling healthy and strong.

Well, I hope that the quiet means that everyone is out having fun and enjoying life!! Wishing for everyone to see losses on the scale... Hope to see you all soon. TTYL

Hey Kitty - DH and I are still talking...LOL. He has some tests to go for on Wednesday, so we'll be going through some stress for the next week until we get some results.

Myamara! I see you found us okay. Congrats on the 13lbs - that's great! It'll probably slow down after the first couple of weeks. Check in here with us, we'll try to keep you cheat-free.

WooHoo Mary! Congrats on your 2 lbs! I think 2 lbs a week is good for me too, slow but sure. At least we're losing and not gaining.

I talked my niece into starting Atkins since she noticed I was losing. She did DANDR for a week without cheating and she said she gained 8 lbs . It scared her off. She has a history of yoyo dieting as she's obsessed with her weight. She lost on Jenny Craig, but can't afford it now. I told her that Jenny Craig does not teach her how to eat and she should maybe see a dietician.

Well, this is more like it! I was wondering where everybody has been!

Hey everybody and thanks for all the well wishes. I'm hoping that I will stay with tracking everything I eat so I don't screw up and that the scale keeps moving DOWN. It may be a slow loss, but at least I do know that it's definitely fat and not water weight!

Okay... I actually just walked on the treadmill! Just felt like doing it today - now, that might just be a one day event ... but hey I did it today. I only did 1.25 miles which because I walk kinda slow at 2.5 mph, takes me about 30 minutes. But hey... at least I got on it, right?

Shala, I have only had a bladder infection about 2 times in my life maybe. I just drank tons of water with lemon and yeah, pure cranberry juice. You know I am basically following those guidelines that you posted from that show "I Can Make You Thin" to be honest. I think calling all carbs off limits only created a monster in me and made me desire them even more. Or maybe my head is just finally screwed on right after all this time and I know that some carbs are only once in awhile foods while others should be the mainstays. Dunno... guess we'll see how it goes in the coming months... I may end up crawling back to low carb with my tail between my legs but let's hope not!

Tommie, I decided not to go. I felt a bit guilty about it until I saw it on tv and realized he probably would have never known I was there anyway for all the people. I don't think that I would have handled it well, nevermind DH. Those kinds of emotional things tend to put me down for a few days because I'm so sensitive that I tend to absorb everybody's grief. I talked myself out of going cuz I knew it would be too hard on both of us.

Well, everybody have a great day. Just wanted to pop in before I got started with some chores. The gloomy weather is gone and the sun is back and I have another out of control bush to whack!!

Tommie...where do I get AZO pills??? Yeah, you are right, i am seriously thinking about adding back fruit and whole grain...still nixing the sugar though, it's not for me..and not going to go whole hog on the carbs...still no white bread or pasta (well maybe on occassion)

Mary...The "I can make you thin" thing really does work....if you make an effort when you eat at least, and not always grab something on the go, which is usually what I do (still eating PB out of the jar for breakfast here) The only time I really sit down to eat is when I go out...and I always do the putting the fork thing down and counting each bite...I works!

Ok, so here is the new menu I am thinking of trying next week...let me know what you think...

Breakfast- scrambled eggs

Lunch- Tuna sandwich (on whole wheat bread made with fat free mayo) and an apple or mellon

Dinner- lean cut of meat, either steak, chicken or maybe low carb pizza..

Snack....almonds or peanuts, maybe another piece of fruit...

Well...what's the verdict?

Brandi - I bought some almonds over the weekend. It was the Planters salted ones. It's 5 carbs for 1/3 cup, so I pre-bagged it into little snack bags so I know that's all I can eat. Otherwise, I'd eat the whole can. I did the same thing with cashews but they're 11 carbs per baggie (I'll only eat those on occasion).

Kim- Maybe I'm confused on the nuts and math. My can shows 4 carbs and 3 fibers, so that equals out to 1 carb, now that's only in 1 oz and the serving in the container is 8. So how many nuts would be in a serving?

I'm not sure, but my 1/3 cup baggie contains 53 almonds and I've already ate some I got 5 1/2 baggies from the can and I believe it was a 500g can. So each must be about 100g - how many grams in an ounce?

Now you got me confused

Found it - 100g = 3.52739 oz

1 oz = 28.3495g

LOL I'm confused! I don't net carb so I imagine you're right. I didn't check my can for fibre before i tossed it. I'll have to see if its still in the recycle bin tonight and check. Well if there's 5 carbs in my 50+ nuts, your 28 probably has 3
