Yeah, I remember you mentioned that - that's when I asked you what red chile was. Oh how I wish I could do the Star Trek thing... what'd they call that? Teleporting or something???
I'd so be THERE!! |

Morning everybody. I'll still trying to decide what to do about the funeral. Don't know whether I'll go or not. The story has been all over the news for days now so I feel like I've already been there. It was even the headline on the front page of the local newspaper this morning. There my cousin stood from when they went to the airport when his body arrived and it was so sad. I cannot imagine losing a child to this war. Anyway, there he was standing there with one hand on the folded American flag and the other on the casket and they say he just stood there for the longest time like that. I was gonna meet up with some other family members at 9:00 but I totally overslept, so with all the press attention I don't know if I'm gonna go now. The only time I have even seen this cousin in like 20 years has been at all these family funerals in the last 2 years. Those funerals were all older folks... don't know if I'm up to this one ... will have to think about it. Okay enuf of that doom and gloom..... Just wanted to pop in and say hi really - I woke up having a bad dream - something about getting insulted or having my feelings hurt by my own son!! Whatever it was, it centered around my grandson and I left really MAD!!! Think that's subconscious guilt about this funeral??? ![]() I also woke up stiff and sore again, so I know that I'm exercising some muscles somewhere!! Diana, I so wish I could get motivated to at least walk on the treadmill or something. I have been feeling plenty strong enuf now with my changes in eating and I have actually even thought about getting started again several times. It's just that I have always hated exercise for as long as I have been alive. In school I worked in the office to keep from having to do P.E. class. Is that not pitiful?? Oh and Diana, I think next time I go to the store I'm gonna pick up a roast to make with this red chile sauce. I noticed that most of the recipes started with the dried New Mexico chiles and I realized that I actually had a pack of them in the cabinet. Right on the package ... a recipe for red chile sauce!! I don't have a good recipe for spanish rice tho, so will have to look one up. This recipe for the sauce says to remove all the seeds, so I assume that makes for a mild sauce?? I don't want it too spicy that I can't eat it!! ![]() Anyway, so I'm finishing up my coffee right now and about to have a late breakfast and decide what to do about this funeral. Hope that everybody has a great weekend and wishing for whooshes going into a new week!

Hi,
I'm Susan, and I am new to 72 - I joined a Stillmans challenge and failed big time. I have only ever been able to lose weight before on stillman's. I have tried ATkins in the past and not had success BUT I have always sneaked carbs so i think I will follow it to the letter and see. I have 50lbs to lose -nothing fits and everyone tells me I have gained! Tell me- do you need to count cals - i guess yes! I plan to eat tuna in olive oil - reason i failed stillmans is because I tried to do it eating only tuna in water........and I hate the taste of that!! BEst |

Hi Susan
![]() I think I'm the only one who counts calories on here, but I'm not doing '72 any more. Even though I changed my WOE, I still hang around cuz these gals are my buds!!! They can't get rid of me that easy lol.... If you follow '72 "by the book" (see the intro thread under '72 on the board) you shouldn't need to count calories. |

Yeah you will Tommie... it's just that you are LIVING and that's a good thing!
Life it too short not to enjoy it every once in awhile. If your body wants to drop those last pounds, you'll knock them off. Sometimes we get stuck at thinking we need to be a certain number on the scale, but heck, you might just be at the right weight that your body wants to be at and besides... you look great girl!!! Oooooooo, if you do try those pies let me know how they turn out!! My BFF made them - well not sure which recipe but one of them - and she loved them! (And she's a Louisiana gal!!) Does anybody have the orange chicken recipe handy - the one that uses the diet orange soda?? I thought I saved it but can't find it. No big deal if not.. I can keep looking. Just thought I would ask. ![]() Last edited by marymc : 04-26-2008 at 10:39 AM. |

Sweet and Sour Chicken
Created by Aquaciser Dawn (HippieWitchChick) 1-1.5 pounds boneless chicken, cut up 1/2 white onion (for flavoring, so leave the chunks big so you can pick them out) 12 oz diet orange soda 2 TBS soy sauce 2 TBS white vinegar 1 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp powdered garlic 1/4 tsp cayenne black pepper to taste Brown chicken and onions in non-stick pan (or pan sprayed lightly with PAM). When chicken is brown, add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes until chicken is cooked through and tender. Uncover and reduce liqued until it makes a syrupy sauce. This tastes just like chinese food to me!

Found this one... is this the one everybody has been eating?? If so, I don't know why I was thinking it was called "Orange Chicken." Or is there another one??

How about a proper Good morning!!
Hello Ladies!!! Wanted to stop by quickly, I got my nephews bday to go today. Mary, I know how hard this decision must be for you, but you do what it's your heart. You could always go later to personally send your condolences too if you feel. ![]() Just don't feel guilty if you don't go. It's got to be really hard to go to a funeral when it's a soldier. I would be bawling! Tommie, oh well! Just make the pies and know that you can always go back to lc and lose again!!! You've already done it! ![]() Hi Susan! Welcome!! You'll love it here!!! Oh and Mary, I hope your red chile comes out! Please let me know!! Okay, here's my nephews cake DH and I just did!!! ![]() |

LOL!!
I just made this one last Monday, it was pretty good. I made the mistake of adding frozen broccoli to the same pan and the sauce did not get syrupy. So I'll do it separately next time. I would also season the chicken before adding the sauce to it. But I really did like it!!! I'll def make it again!! Have a great day everyone!! |

Diana... are you okay?? You've been so quiet today!
Anyway, I found that meat pie recipe at nolacuisine.com and there are some great authentic New Orleans recipes there. Of course you'd have to low carb them, but thought you might want to check them out. Look for the Index of Creole & Cajun Recipes on down the page for a list of all the recipes. |

Not too bad. I was yesterday!! Ended up selling two and didn't leave until after 7:00 last night! Everyone left me and I ended up having to lock everything up!
I have had a customer all morning. I finally got him gone about a hour ago. He got here at 10 and I didn't get him gone until 2!! Plus the truck he was coming to look at had been ran threw detail, but you coulda fooled me!! It was filthy!! I spent a hour cleaning it before he got here!! My detail guy sux!!! But yea for me I sold something!! Also took a phone deposit on a truck. These folks are from WI!! Gonna fly in and pick it up next week!! So I've had a productive day!!

Mary, I don't like to exercise either! I just loathe it, but I don't know what else to do to start losing again.
DH keeps telling that the elliptical is just sitting there! So I thought what WTH, I'll do it. Then, I remembered I had a Pilates dvd that was pretty easy to do. I've been sore from the Pilates. It works out almost every muscle in your body! But you've doing some physical exercise too! I think as long as we are moving around doing something, then we're fine!! ![]() LOL, I remember when I read Dr As' book, he said that exercise was something we had to do. Right away, I thought, I ain't doing this way of eating if I have to exercise! But alot of people lose doing lc and not exercising. Well, I'll see how long I last at this. I'm a short term person! I don't do something for a long period of time, LOL!! |
