Newbie
Hello,
My name is Mary and I would like to give this diet a go. I have ordered the PPLP on amazon tonight. Just wondering for my height 5" 2' and 145.6 lbs what is the amount of protein, carb & fat intake per day. Thanks. |

Hi Mary! I am on Protein power and I have to eat a minnimum of 60 grams of protein a day. Sorry it took so long to answer your question, but I hadn't checked in a few days. Have you started eating this way now? Did you like the book? I love how the Eades explain things. I also like PP better than South Beach and Atkins. I don't feel deprived with the Eades way of eating. Anyway hope this WOE works as well for you as it does for me. If you need some moral support, I am on here a couple of times a day. Just reply if you would like any support. Have a great Tuesday!

Hi, Mary! I'm new to this forum, and to Protein Power, too. I have been on low carb (around 40 net carbs a day), for about a week. I read about Protein Power, and just ordered the book from ebay, tonight. We can learn about it, together. |

From what I've read, Protein Power allows you to have anything, as long as you keep your carbs below the limit. I DON'T allow myself sugar, though...except the natural sugar that's found in berries. I also very rarely eat potatoes. For awhile, I tried "Dr. Gott's No Flour/No Sugar". You can't have anything with the word "flour" in it...no rice flour, wheat flour, potato flour...only whole grains. And, you can only have "naturally occuring sugars". I felt really good on this plan, but didn't lose weight. So, when I do eat carbs, I try to incorporate the "No Flour/No Sugar" carbs, into my meals. I got hooked on the "Ezekiel Breads"...bread, hamburger buns, pocket bread, etc. They are sprouted whole grains, no flour. Maybe I should write my own "Low Carb Lifestyle Book"...Low Carb/No Flour/No Sugar. ![]() But, I'm very anxious to get the book, and read it. Last edited by Melle : 04-25-2008 at 07:53 AM. |

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies.
I never did receive the PPLP from ebay. I acutally went out and bought from Chapers the Protein Power 30 day, sorry I forget the correct title. I am going to order PPLP from Amazon I think before starting to get everything down pat. Any suggestions that would help me out before I get the PPLP would be greatly appreciated. sbaquera78 - how long have you been on PP and have you been sucessful? Why do you like PP better than the rest of the other plans? Sorry, just trying to get ideas about this plan. I am currently still on Atkins and eating less than 20g of carbs per day. Her are my ratios with the Atkins: 30-33% Protein 60-67% Fat 5-15% Carbs Hope to get to know everyone and support one another. |

Melle~Looks like you have a great idea going. I have all the Eades books. I like to read
Anyway, I think you will notice that they have many of the same ideas, but it is not as boring as Atkins. That one annoyed me. Moretta~I have been doing the PP plan for about 8 weeks. I have lost 10 lbs and 3 inches off my hips, and 3 inches off my waist. I also notice that with my Strength training the muscle is definig quicker. I think it works great! I have no complaints. They make it so easy to follow. I like PP best because Atkins left me longing for more, and South beach wants you to eat all that low fat food. I don't really care for low fat food, it doesn't have the right flavors. Of course, that is my opinion. Although my mom was on south beach and didn't do well at all, but once she switched to PP she has lost 17 lbs. So I am a big believer in the Eades WOE. Let me know what you think of it. Do you like to cook? I like to, and the Eades have a comfort foods cook book that is pretty good. Also George Stella has two books that have very yummy recipes, too. Well, good luck and hope to hear from you both again. Let me know how it is going! |

I agree..."strict Atkins" annoyed me, too. It was just boring. I don't like low fat, either. I've always been in awe of the things you can eat on low-carb. The way I'm doing it now, I really don't miss-out on anything. If there's something I really want, I can find a way to make it low-carb. Eventually, I want to get all of the Eades books, too. |

Good. I have learned a lot. They make things simple.
When cooking, I only make what I can buy at the regular grocery store. If I can't find it, I try to sub out the ingredients. I just don't want to have to order from the internet. I think the items sold online cost too much, or maybe I am just cheap...hahaha Anyway, glad you found their show! |

You know you've got too many books, when you don't even know what you have. Luckily, I have all of my "diet books", in the same place. I was looking for my "Atkins New Diet Cookbook", today, and I found "The Carbohydrate Addict's Healthy Heart Program".
I forgot I even had it...I really don't even remember where I got it. I think I picked it up at a yard sale, put it on the shelf, and forgot about it. So, I got it out and I'm going to read it, until my copy of "Protein Power" comes in the mail. I got an "ebay message" from the seller, and he/she said they shipped it April 25'th, so I should get it, shortly. |

Let me know when you receive your book and what you think. You can let me know if I can be of any help. |

Hi ladies,
I never did receive my PPLP from Amazon. I reordered from another seller and hopefully I will have better luck. I did go out and buy the 30-Day-Low-Carb-Diet-Solution last night and looked over it briefly. I have to get down to reading it more carefully if I want to make the switch from Atkins to PPLP. Can anybody tell me for my height 5' 2" and 143.6 pounds what are my numbers as to protein, carbs and fat? I didn't see that anywhere in that book. I think this info. I would find it in the PPLP which I had to reorder. Thanks and I hope everybody is losing. |

Mary~I believe that you should be getting at least 60 grams of protein and in phase one you are alloted 10 carbs per meal and two snacks, keeping your carbs between 30 to 40.
I have their original book and it has a formula to figure out you lean body mass, and then it lets you know the protein. Maybe Melle has the newer one that goes by height/weight. If not you are about the weight I was when I started, and that is how I did it. Hope this helps! |
