I'm really tired and have a really early morning tomorrow, so...

B: egg cream
L: ham scrambled with eggs and hollandaise sauce, 1 LC tortilla
D: meatloaf, bell pepper

The Oopsie waffles were good. I think I might tweak the recipe next time, though, because the ones at the end, when the batter had less egg white and was a little thicer, were better than the first few.

HB - You liked the egg cream, huh? There's a reason they've become my breakfast staple.

Me too! (tired) My lazy butt has finally started to workout (the way I have been needing to for so long) and boy I'm feeling it! I now have 2 hours of Callanetics under my belt! And some very sore thighs & hips!

Yes, I love the egg creams, but they aren't keeping me very full - Angel, what do you put in yours?

For some reason, I was RAVENOUS today and could NOT stop thinking about food! I snacked all day so I racked up 26 Carbs:

B: 1/4 cup raspberries; 1/4 cup strawberries; 1/4 cup blackberries
S: ThinkThin bar
S: large spoonfull of Soy Nut Butter
L: egg cream w/ 3 eggs; 6 oz coffee; 1 oz heavy cream
S: 1 hot dog
D: zucchini carbonara
S: 2 CCC's + 1/4 cup blackberries

I'm going to eat better tomorrow and start the day off with something to keep me full longer...

SO THE 3 OF YOU NEVER EAT ANY FRUIT?? EXCEPT FOR LIZ, I NEVER SEE IT ON YOUR MENUS?

nite nite!
XO,
HB

LIZ - this was posted in my SS Group today:

In SS-Challenges@yahoogroups.com, Amber Steranka wrote:

hey bren...excuse me for being nosy...but, is this to do with your pcos? i know that mine was terrible...but, knowing that i couldn't take metformin or spirolactone i had to find what i COULD take and what i COULD do to control this disease...basically, it took me 13mos. to lose down to my ultimate goal weight (i weigh 122 from 172) i could lose more, but my measurements are measuring the same and i know that i'll NEVER see high school weight of 95lbs. (also, i'd NEVER want to get down that small...that was 20yrs. ago and since then i've had three kids so my body's changed quite a bit...LoL!) so i'm very satisfied with 122. at 172 i was a size 18 and now i'm down to a 2/4...i'm also taking paxil (20mg) due to a complete mental breakdown from postpartum psychosis (thanks to pcos!! LoL!) so w/pcos AND paxil it makes it VERY HARD almost impossible to lose weight...but, i did. i think the right combinations for me were ssing (like you i eat NO grains...but, get all my fiber and carbs from lots of organic veggies...i juice twice a day and take greens equilvalent to 9lbs. of organic veggies...in one serving...every night before bed) and, i did bio's for about 6mos. now, i've yet to miss or be late for a cycle in the last year...always on the full moon...i no longer do bio's as i seem to be balancing out quite nicely and i do a type of exercise that detox's my lymphatic system and helps balance my hormones. i also take supplements...natural calm magnesium (thanks to nicole), carlson's fish oil, carlson's complete b, and NOW l-carnitine (again, thank's to nicole)...i'll be adding supplements back as i get better budgeted this summer. also, worth looking into is coconut oil...i've been using this off and on for the last 3yrs. and it has wonderful health benefits. you can go to tropicaltraditions.com and look up all the info on it. and, i've tried to reduce stress in my life...b/c that really pumps up your corisol and deplete's your adrenal's...you can do this i know you can...just holler at me if you need anything...

blessings,
amber

LIZ - more from Amber:

RE: [SS-Challenges] Amber!

hey hb...well, you already know the type of exercise i do...T-TAPP! that's the lymphatic cleanser! have you gotten on her site and checked out all that it does to balance you? it's weird but when i do her exercises...i sweat from my chest, back and groin area (where some of the largest lymph glands are)...give it a look see (but you may already have) you could get on their forum and under general discussions and ask about about lymphedema and see if one of the moderators or tersea could tell you or call their office and ask...i've never heard of the lebed method...sounds really interesting i'll look it up...also, i noticed you were doing callanetics...it looks really cool...i was thinking about it for my mom...she shattered her ankle bone and can't do t-tapp...do you have to do a lot of moving or hard to do standing poses?

blessings,
amber

---------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Amber, can you please tell me more about this? Wonder if it could help my Lymphedema? Is it the Lebed Method? Or something else? Do you see a Lymph Therapist?

i do a type of exercise that detox's my lymphatic system and helps
balance my hormones...

Thanks HB for the post! I officially started today at my new store. Lots of problems but they are simple fixes for the most part. It takes up a lot of my time right now so please forgive me if I am absent more than usual from the board. I do try to post my daily menu to keep me accountable but I may not be able to comment much.

I hope everyone else is having a good time

Menu

B: protein shake
L: soup and half of half a rb wrap
D: steak and artichoke
S: strawberry smoothie

HB, I've been making my egg creams with 3 eggs because 2 wasn't doing it for me most days. I also probably use more cream than is called for. I don't measure 1 oz. I pour about 1/4 in the bottom of my Magic Bullet mug, then add the eggs, etc. Have you tried adding coconut oil? The added fat would probably help you feel full longer.

I do eat fruit, I just haven't eaten much lately. I kind of go through cycles when I eat quite a bit and then go for a while without much. I tend to eat more fruit in the summer, too.

Sorry, I meant to type 1/4 inch in the bottom of the mug. It probably is about 1/4 cup, though. I've not used coconut oil in it, but I've heard that it emulsifies nicely. Angela might know more.

The "french toast" recipe I used is not using oopsies. It's one I've had for a long time, since my first go-around w/ low carbing. Here' the one I found in the recipe room:

Amazing alternative to french toast or pancakes with almost no carbs at all!
Ingredients: 2 Eggs
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
2 Pkgs Splenda
Cinnamon to Taste
1/2 of a 3 oz. Bag of Pork Rinds
How To Prepare: Mix eggs, cream, sweetner and cinnamon.

Crush pork rinds and mix with above mixture.

Allow to soak about 2-3 minutes...it becomes a thick goopy batter.

Fry pancake-style in butter until browned and flip over. Mine never flip so if you wind up just with a scrambled mess, that's ok too, it's easier to flip that way. It all tastes the same!

Cook until done as you would french toast or pancakes.

Serve with your favorite low carb syrup (I use Cary's Sugar Free syrup)

The Paper Towel Analogy

The Paper Towel Analogy
April 12th, 2008
This is a post from Alwyn Cosgrove's blog that I thought was a
really good analogy for the rate of progress and being patient.

Let's assume you go out and buy two rolls of paper towels, each with
112 paper towels on it. You put one aside, and keep it for future
reference (your "before" picture). The other one represents you
(I'll call your paper towel "Ed"). The core represents the lean Ed.
The towels represent the fat that is covering the lean Ed.

For sake of argument, let's say that Ed wants to lose 28 pounds of
fat, so (112/28) each sheet represents a quarter-pound of fat lost.

Let's also assume that Ed loses his fat equally during each day of
the program.

Each day during the first week, you tear a sheet off of Ed,
representing the fat he has lost for the day. Next, you put Ed next
to the full roll ("Big Ed") for comparison.

No noticeable difference! Even at the end of the week!

"This can't be working for me! This program sucks! "
But, you continue to follow your fat loss program. At the end of
weeks two and three, you continue to compare Ed to Big Ed, and still
notice very little difference.

But Ed is determined! He continues to work hard!

Three more weeks go by, the sheets peeling off day after day, before
Ed gets up the courage to stand next to Big Ed again.

Now there's a big difference!

By the end of the program (112 days), Ed is down to his lean dream,
or somewhere near it. Big Ed is still - well, big.

The lesson to be learned is that fat, like paper towels, comes off
in sheets. When you are heavy, you are big around. And when you are
big around, that fat is spread over a MUCH larger area – just like
that outside towel sheet. The closer you get to the lean you, the
more each lost pound of fat shows, because it is spread over a
smaller area.

While the outside sheet may only cover one layer of the roll, the
inside sheet may go around 4 times. That last sheet looks like it
gives you four times the results of the first sheet, but in reality,
the results are the same – your perception is just different! And
you'll never see the inside, if you aren't patient while the outside
is coming off!

I think we could ALL use some help in this area from time to time. I also think emotional eating is connected to this lack of self love in some deep way (for me). Here are some interesting links on the topic of self love:

Back on the Wagon

Well it has been a while since I have done LC. I had much success the 1st time I did this, so I thought that I would try again. I have had another baby since the last time I did LC, and doc says I have to lose some pounds, so here I am again.
I would love to join your challenge. I am in need of some motivation. I just cant seem to get going. I plan on cooking today so that I am not going thru the fridge. I am going to take my measurements before I go to bed tonight and I will weigh in the morning.
My 40th B-Day is just around the corner and I do not want to be the Fat 40 year old. I want to be the Hot Mama that I know I can be. I just ordered a new 2 piece from Victoria's Secret for the summer and I want to look good in it.
So with everyone support I should look smokin hot in my pink bikini.
Looking forward to encouragement and support from all of you, I will do my best to give support back.
