Hi Everyone! Watched the Biggest Loser earlier --- amazing to see some of the transformations. Ali looked awesome! Well all of them did! I am gonna be doing a happy dance just to make it to Onederland..... We are transforming too!! Keep up the good work!!
Got some good news financially today -- and am hoping by June to be able to purchase a few things clothing wise. Gonna check the consignment shops and our local Goodwill Industries. Really do not want to have many of any sizes on my journey down, but gonna have to break bad and get a few things. Pulling out the few 1X shirts and blouses I saved and they all fit (some are loose) -- but the bottoms are another story. 2X is working for the most part. When I get to a 1X on the bottom, I am looking for a pair of jeans. I have not put a pair of jeans on my body in a long time. Will be nice. Rode the exercise bike a bit after the Biggest Loser went off. My workouts are so simple compared to what all those folks have been through --- but hey, I am getting stronger; can feel it. On a really positive note, I had to show my id at the bank today. The teller looked at it, looked at me and did a double take.... said, 'hey this really does not look like you.' I happened to have the same blouse on as in the photo (just very very very baggy now) --- Teller said, 'the blouse is the only thing that convinces me this is the same person.' -- Felt like I was doing the happy dance on the way out. lol. Have a good day tomorrow!

New here
Hi Everyone,
I just started 1 1'/2 days ago to induction Atkins. This is the first time that I've participated in these boards - you are all so encouraging!! I can't believe the weight that you have all lost - it makes me want to keep going b/c I just wish I had started earlier, you know?? I just bought my first scale in probably 10 years!! I subscribe to the 'ignore it and it will go away' theory in a lot of areas that are out of control in my life!! BUT I am ready to stop hiding and commit to a new way of life!! Starting weight and heaviest 4/14/08 - 255 lbs Weight today 4/16/08 - 252 lbs Goal Weight - 150 lbs |

Welcome Cara!
Stacey, are you feeling any better? We are all here for you. I was doing so well too and I had to have a huge talk with myself and I have done well since then. Today's menu: Breakfast: handful of cashews, running behind because I ironed for a change! Snack: 1/2 pouch tuna selects-herb & garlic Lunch: rest of leftover roast, 1/2 cucumber Snack: 1/2 cucumber, celery sticks Dinner: Applebees with my sister. Brushetta burger no bun, grilled veggies instead of fries. Snack if needed: rest of tuna Doing great with water this week. I am on a roll. Have a nice day. Cindy |

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been kind of MIA lately.
After a few carbier days, yesterday I DID make it the gym and walked 3 miles! It was great to get back there again after staying away all during Spring Break. Today is my first full day back completely low carb... and I am facing some temptations again, but I'm NOT giving in! Today's Menu: B- turkey on oopsies (6) L- pepperoni slices, diet soda (2) S- meat of some kind and veggies (8) TOTAL=16 carbs/8 glasses of water (maybe walking to park later = 1 mile)

Welcome Cara!! There's no time like the present to begin...Congratulations!!
Well, today I had my first major "test"...i was out of town for work today, which has led me to a habit of purchasing high fat high carb food...i packed my lunch, creamed spinach and garlic chicken breast, UMM, I love this stuff, but at lunch time i was drawn to ditch the packed homemade leftovers and went to a nearby grocery store...walking past the bakery, I so wanted to buy cake or one of those other baked items, but i didn't...i looked through the candy isle, then saw 100 calorie packs of cupcakes, checked the carb count and was rationalizing that , hey the count isn't too bad for a serving, but i knew the mood i was in, i wouldn't have eaten just one pack...i left the grocery store empty handed!!! YEAH!!! I drove right back to the office where i worked for the day and found a microwave and heated up my lunch....i was so glad i got through that... plus everyone was ooing and awwing over my low carb lunch!

Hey everybody! Thanks I'm doing alright. I just get so down on myself. I really need to learn to love myself inside and out. I was doing so good trying to change my attitude and feel good about myself but all it takes is a few people to knock me down. And when I fall i fall hard. I really do just hate myself. I sit and think about everything about myself and there isn't one thing I like and it gets me depressed. The more I feel like this the more I want to eat too. I know it's just my mindset. I'm sure I will get better.

Ok Stacie no more of that u r are beautifull and dont let noone ever make u feel differently, I spent many years with a man that verbally abused me and physically, cuz I felt that same way, I went up and down with my weight due to that in the long run I only hurt myself - I went thru a huge depression still kinda fighting my way back 14 years of listening to some one tell me I was no good is a long time and a waste of time to be quite honest. Im looking at ur pic darling U are gorgeous and u have youth that i would give anything to get back . I hope u take my advise cuz it is gonna be str8 forward and not easy to do , but worth it for urself esteme cut those ppl out ur life , they dont deserve to be in it if they drag u down or make u feel that way. I see how hard u are trying and what u have accomplished already !!! Thats a huge accomplishment and u have to Love urself cuz with out it u will fail darling and u will let others make u feel this way...Dont let noone and i mean noone ever make u feel like that, turn it around and use it as a positive , that should show u that u are doing something right , ppl love to bring others down to make them selves feel better , its only the ones that build u up and are truelly proud of u that are worth keepin in ur life....I didnt mean to preach I really didnt but I know how it feels to be put down or to be told negative things , I was told on a daily basis I was nothing and I was ugly and noone would ever want me and i got to the point to where I believed it. I was at the deepest depression I ever want to go , but I do this for me now and noone else out of that 14 year relationship I got a beautifull daughter that was the only good thing that came out of it, but I paid a huge price 14 years of my life dont let noone take that from u ..they arnt worth it, but u are !!!!!!U R WORTH LOVING !!!!! I love ur new pic darling u absolutly look gorgeous, Now stick to ur plan and do it for u cuz u deserve it!!! huge hug for u
![]() my menue b-hb egg l- steak D-chicken water water water green tea 1 cup of coffee I only aloow good ppl in my life now! because I know im worth it and deserve it!!!!Be good to urself and u are by doing this ........ |

Magic, I'm here! I've been trying some "experiments" I guess you would say. I haven't lost anything for over four months and, as you can imagine, very frustrated. Not eating low carb was/is never an option. I'm eating low-carb for life! I've counted carbs, eating no more than 20, then eating no more than 10, and then trying almost no carbs. My weight just didn't budge, so now I am counting calories and carbs, and I do not eat after 5pm. Maybe I was just eating far too many calories? I know that we are not supposed to have to count calories, but, evidently, some of us do! That's what I am doing right now, and I hope that I have found something that works!
![]() Magic, you are doing so well! You are inspiring for sure! I love reading your posts. ![]() Stacie, you are almost halfway to goal. Don't let ANYONE derail you! Sometimes people are actually jealous of you so they will put you down to make themselves feel better. You let them win if you give in to them and put yourself down, too. Change your friends, your environment, whatever you need to do to help yourself. God loves you, and you are special! ![]() Heather, I have missed your posts, and I was watching for your name to come up on my e-mail! I'm glad you are back and back on track, too! FancyFace, you are doing so well. You are working so hard! Cindy, Jennifer and all of you, hello and stay strong! We will get healthy and lose this weight! All of you help to inspire me. I have really struggled, and I love to read about all of your successes! ![]()

Magic, you are great support on this board and a true inspiration after all you have been through.
Stacie, please take Magic's advice. Don't let other's bring you down. You can learn to love yourself. First step: Go to a mirror and take a look at yourself. Find one thing that you like about yourself. It doesn't matter what it is. Good skin, nice smile, great hair. It can even be something as tiny as great shaped eyebrows. Just find something that you can be positive about. This may sound conceded, but I love myself....yep big ole me! What do I love most? My innerself and well being. I am a GOOD person. I make ethical decisions and treat others how I wish to be treated. If you met me, you would not know how selfish I am in loving myself, it's my secret. I love my personality. I do not love my body. I am working on liking it more, but guess what, my innerself is so much more important. How we treat people, give and make someone else's day is much more important than outer beauty. Following me? Today's day 5 cheat free menu includes: Breakfast: 4 sausage links, 3 pc's bacon (hungry so added more protein) Snack: HB egg Lunch: Salad with mix, cukes, green onion and HB eggs and cheese, fried hot dog Snack: Celery sticks Supper: Grilled chicken breast in olive oil and parmesan cut up on the rest of my salad. Snack if craving: fried cheese. Water up the ying-yang, on my 3rd bottle. Have a great day. Cindy |

I want to post my menus like you guys do b/c I can see how that makes us accountable. Even just reading all of the stories is so comforting! And I've gotten some good advice - one that sticks out to me: someone was saying how, even with legal foods, if you're tempted to overeat it or it leads to more cravings, why fight it, just don't allow that food. That made so much sense to me. Last time I tried low carb, I bought sugar free fudgecicles. I like them - just to break up the monotony of induction. However, if you are accustomed to overeating, and you rationalize, "Well, they're low carb, so I can have another, and another..." it kind of defeats the purpose b/c 3 net carbs per bar x 3 bars is still 9 carbs!!
Yesterday's menu: B: Cheese stick & handful of nuts S: Sunflower seeds L: Roast & some beans D: 2 turkey franks, 2 cheese sticks, 2 dill pickles w/ mustard I still drink way too much diet soda, but I'm drinking more water than I have in a long time Today: B: 2 eggs/ 2 sausage patties L: Taco salad made w/ spinach S: SF Jello D: Baked chicken breast, asparagus, mushrooms Of course, I'm still having cravings, but really, this msg board has helped so much with that - and seeing how you guys stick w/ it, even if you mess up, really helps me know that I can do this. Have a good day! |
