I am up 1.5 lbs

(from 167 to 168.5)

175/168.5/145 + my scale says my body fat is 32% !!

So I'm going to be extra good this weekend and begin strict Induction again TODAY. (not on Monday as I would usually say!)

I ate OK this week but I had red wine almost every night and it shows in my stats.

Also, I'm going to spend LESS time at the computer and MORE time exercising.

That is my Spring Resolution beginning TODAY, April 11 (11 is my
favorite number)

XO,
HB

I only have a few minutes, but I wanted to stop in and post my menu for today.

B: egg cream
L: 3x3 protein style
D: tuna melt on a tortilla

Have a great weekend, all!

P.S. HB, I don't think the scales that measure body weight are very accurate. There are too many variables for it to take into account, like muscle mass. Also, don't freak out about the scale fluctuations. It's normal, especially if monthly cycles are taken into account. That said, wine isn't exactly LC, so cutting it back might be a good idea.

Hi everybody - can't believe it has been 4 days since I last posted - I can only blame that on too much free time this time and the fact that Roger & I finally met to talk & - it's not over yet - we're meeting either tonight or tomorrow night to talk more.
Whatever happens - I have moved on to date other guys - I have a date in the city with this great sounding guy on Thursday night - should be fun - we just talked on the phone just now - he's very thoughtful & kind so far...

Angel - that's so awesome that your DH is going to start this WOE - that should be a lot of fun for the 2 of you - should make it easier for preparing meals as well. How'd the game night go last night?

Hummingbird - Sorry to hear about the 1.5 pounds - this is why I never weigh myself - it seems to de-motivate me. But it's great to see that it's kicked you into induction - how's it going so far?
Thank you for sharing the lymphadema info - I'm glad there are some helpful home therapies out there for that. You have such a positive attitude about it all - it's so infectious - I'm so looking forward to meeting you on Sunday

Liz -
Thanks for the Reese's Pieces info - I'll have to hide the bag when I find them - I can definitely see how they could be addictive - almost glad for that laxative effect

Menus have been the same - egg creams, taco salads, celery & almond butter, Perfect Foods bars, had a small piece of Tiramasu for a friend's b-day party on Friday - I made sure to have a taco salad 1st though for the protein/slow the insulin response, also had a glass of wine that night & it made me crave carbs for the 1st time ever - weird - I didn't give into the carb craving though.

Yesterday I made low-carb strawberry ice cream.
I used strawberries, heavy cream, vanilla beans, xylitol, a little agave, & a few egg yokes - poured it into a ziploc baggie & put into the freezer for an hour- yummy - especially with the hot day.

Exercise
is still the same too - between 3-5 days in a row of Callanetics, 1-2 off, Tae Bo a few times a week. Just ordered the Turbo Jam Fat Blaster DVD to do once a week - apparently it works very well but very intense.

Hope y'all are enjoying this gorgeous weekend!

Yesterday's menu:
B: bacon & tomato fritatta, coffee
L: salami w/ cream cheese, ham and cheese rollup, few bites tuna salad
D: bunless double cheese burger, cesaer salad, devilled eggs
S: jello parfait

The game night was a lot of fun. We intentionally showed up late (and ate a bit before we left) so that we could avoid the lasagne they were serving for dinner, but we weren't late enough. DH complained to me about it and looked longingly at the dessert table, but he was good. I took devilled eggs and a huge jello parfait dessert so that I would be sure we would have stuff to eat. We played Bunco, which I've never played before, but it was fun.

Angela, it sounds like you have an interesting situation developing. I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you.

Good job Angel on Bunco night. I am sure your DH was happy to have you there for support. That is so awesome that you are a team now. It should def help with cravings etc. I love Bunco, it is a lot of fun.

Yes, Angela, I am too interested in hearing about the Roger situation.

Menu

Brunch: eggs, bacon, salad, prime rib
D: steak and artichoke
S: orange, strawberries and whipped cream, hot dog from Costco.

Weigh in day tomorrow. Hope it is a good one!

I dont know if I mentioned this but I can pretty much make a lunch time date for our gathering but dinner might be hard. I should know more as we get closer to the date.

Hope everyone enjoyed the sun this weekend. I know I did!

okay ladies...

you asked about the Roger situation...

we met today to continue the talk from Thursday cuz I needed
more time to think about things and I'm just learning how
to do this kind of talking...

...basically in a nutshell - he doesn't feel like he did anything
wrong the past 6 weeks, he'd like to continue with the things the way
they were;

I don't.

I was vulnerable, I told him things, he was a good listener, but I've
discovered that we're just not a good match and he's kind of a jerk.

So we're going to be friends meaning things will be friendly between
us when we run into one another on occasion - that's it.

I've never done anything like this before and I'm so proud how I handled it.

AND I have a date in SF on Thursday night with a cute, fun boy.
He's going to surprise me with what to do for the evening and
we're going to ride the cable cars which strangely enough I've
never done before after living here for almost 9 years.

I'm SO excited to start dating again - I got over Roger during the last 6
weeks of barely talking to him and not seeing him.
The only thing I'm grieving over is a person who was important to me for 2 months is now not in my life anymore - but I don't even want him to be a part of my life anymore - he's shown his character and now I can move on.

YAY!!!

Thanks for listening - love ya guys!!

EDITED TO ADD:
I also have a new body since I last saw him 7 weeks ago -
I have the Callanetics peach bottom, an almost flat tummy,
lean, shapely legs, and I'm 15+ pounds lighter.

THAT was fun.

Angel - great job with helping out DH on game night, lasagna is a pretty tough one to resist, especially when going through withdrawals...

Liz - LOVE your menu today - wow!

As far as next Sunday is concerned - I still don't have anyone scheduled during the middle of the day, just morning and end of the day, but I can't line myself out for such a long lunch yet until probably Friday...but I can definitely do dinner...

Thanks for sharing your Roger situation, Angela. Sounds like you handled it very well. Good luck on your SF date. You should have a blast with the new guy! I grew up in SF and have not rode the cable cars in about 23 years!!! Time for me to jump on one.

I am so happy you are loving your body! I really need to get into callanetics. I am doing well with my eating. Not sure if my body is changing too much. I still have what I call my "PCOS" body. (I carry most of my weight in my mid section and larger upper body) I know that if I am consistent with Callanetics or Ttapp my body will change. I just like to do activity exercise like riding my bike or going for a walk. I know some flex and strength training will really help me though.

I forgot to mention that I got a great pedi/mani today at a really cute place in Dublin. They do parties for 4 or more. If you ladies would like to set one up and get pedi/manis we could book a party. I am not sure how the "party" works but I can get more details.

Have a good night!

You're welcome Liz - thanks for asking about it.
And thank you for the good luck - I just posted an ad on Craiglist too
I'm just excited to meet new boys.

I'm madly in love with Callanetics - the teachers on the board have helped so much with their form tips that the results are so instantaneous and it's hard not to be addicted. It'll be even cooler when I lose these last 20 or so pounds. I think the Egg Creams are helping a lot and can't wait for the TJ Fat Blaster.

There are people on the site who are apples, who've never had a waist and they do now, Callanetics is great in chiseling and shrinking the waist. And don't even get me started on how amazing it is with saddlebags. It's amazing with everything - in fact so amazing that it could probably cure the world of hunger and bring about world peace.

That nail party sounds like an excellent idea - I love mani/pedis.
Please let us know when you get more info.

Sorry it took me so long to get in here today. My schedule is forever changing. I am officially down .4lbs this week. As of yesterday, I would be down about 2.4lbs but I think I either ate too much or had too much fruit so I spiked up. Hopefully, the 2lbs will come off by next week.

Menu
B: protein shake
L: smoothie and almonds
D: steak fajitas
S: wasa crackers w/pb

Sorry I didn't make it in yesterday. I had a lot going on.

B: egg cream
L: Atkins bar
S: Atkins bar
D: bratwurst sausage, cheese, tomato, cucumber slices

Well ladies, unfortunately I'm going to have to bow out of our lunch on Sunday. Something has come up with my niece and I need to go be with them on Sunday. I'm disappointed, but it is what it is.

Hi Everyone! Just a quick post that I am here...just working the crazy work schedule. Only one more week of training and things should be back to normal. I will post more tomorrow.

Angel, if you would like, lets just reschedule so it works for all of us. I hope everything is okay with your niece.

I will be back in tomorrow to check in.

Have a great wednesday!

Sounds good to me for re-scheduling.
Liz - when your training is over, will you have a more predictable schedule?
Angel - I hope everything is okay with your niece.

Menu:
b: Egg Cream
l: 1/4 Perfect Food Bar, Kombucha
d: taco salad, forgot to bring cheese - was at work
s: Perfect Food bar

No exercise today - crazy day...

If everyone is willing to reschedule, that would be great! Saturday's are usually good for me, but I will be out of town next weekend. If we want to meet sooner, Weekday evenings could be ok. Ideas anyone?

B: egg cream
L: cobb salad
D: BK triple stacker (bunless of course)

DH wants a snack right now, and I'm a little hungry too, so I'll be making something shortly. Maybe crack cake.

Yikes! Where do I start? Sorry, work has been way too busy AND of course it's tax time – ugh and whew. Glad that is OVER!!!!!

1 - CALLANETICS – instantaneous results? This APPLE is interested! What’s the site? What's the board? Please tell me everything right away!!

2 - WHAT IS THE LAXATIVE EFFECT AND HOW DO I GET IT??
(re: Thanks for the Reese's Pieces info - I'll have to hide the bag when I find them - I can definitely see how they could be addictive - almost glad for that laxative effect.)

3 - WHAT IS A PERFECT FOOD BAR?

4 - YUM!! Can we get exact measurements please??
(re: low-carb strawberry ice cream: strawberries, heavy cream, vanilla beans, xylitol, a little agave, & a few egg yolks - poured it into a ziploc baggie & put into the freezer for an hour- yummy)

5 - What is crack cake??

6 - I’m pretty flexible for a midweek dinner or even midweek lunch for the remainder of this week and M/T/W next week. Saturday/Sunday should be OK too - just let me know. Whatever time is chosen, I just want to try to avoid traffic since I’m coming from so far away…maybe Monday lunch?

7 - Angela, I don't even know Roger but I can already tell from what you've written that he is NOT the one for you! When it's "right", it's just not that much "work" right from the beginning, that comes later after years of marriage! The early days/weeks/years are supposed to be a lot more effortless & carefree. Know what I mean, jelly bean? And thanks for the compliment; I am looking forward to meeting you too!

8 - How do the Egg Creams help? By keeping you full for longer?

9 - Angel, that is cool that your hubby will join the LC WOE. My hubby is doing it with me too. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for you up till now! Good lord, you must have some serious self discipline! You are more woman than me, I am weak! How could you stand the temptation of whatever he was eating?? I am always and forever making up new “rules” about what we eat and when; thank gawd my hubby is super supportive (he understands the Gemini fickle thing) and simply says: “Just tell me what I’m supposed to eat”. Up to now, he’s actually done most of the real cooking around here (I do the basics) but ever since the LC thing – I’ve been doing all the cooking and it’s been fun! (who knew that I could actually plan a weekly menu??)

10 - Liz, how ya doing?? I think you/me are a LOT alike! We eat right but the exercise falls by the wayside or it’s not the right kind. Too bad we don’t live closer so we could motivate each other and workout together! But if you ever want to move to Martinez, we rent out the bottom floor of our home (but have a tenant right now) AND we are thinking of renting out a room upstairs too (need the moola) – my last tenant became a friend and we worked out together so when she left I got fat! The current tenant has no interest in the gym – so from now on – this is gonna have to be on the rental application – "Do you workout? Are you good at motivating your upstairs landlord to workout? If the answer to either of these questions is "No"; your application will be denied!" hahaha! Anyway, I am now taking the L-Carnitine and CoQ10, etc. too – so let’s see how this works for us!! 6 weeks 'till I'm in a swimsuit in Hawaii. Holy lord I am NOT ready for that!!

11 - OK, we are real wino’s (w/ wine cellar downstairs) BUT I’m going to swear off wine (oh gawd this is hard to type) starting TODAY: April 15, 2008 for 6 weeks (until my 45th birthday on May 30) ACK! What am I doing?? OK, well we haven’t yet decided if we’re going to allow ourselves some wine on Friday night (it is our sacrosanct pizza “date night” for the past 20 years since 1988 – of course I’ve been eating cauliflower pizza for a month…) Oh and btw, Red Wine is only 2 carbs per 4 ounces - but who has 4 ounces? I can't afford to spend 4 of my carbs per day on wine...hubby is onboard too! (tequila has NO CARBS – hehehe!)

Menu Today:

B: Atkins Bar
L: hardboiled egg; white cheddar; hot dog (no bun)
S: cream cheese cloud
D: taco salad and NO WINE!

6 glasses of water + 30 minute Pilates workout

nite nite!

PS

wow Angel - just read your blog - CONGRATULATIONS on your new size!! your post is so inspirational that I'm sending your blog to a friend in NC that needs some inspiration (to get started) now. Her story is similar to yours. Would be nice if she had a similar outcome too!

Angela - After reading the Callanetics blogs (which I accessed from your sig line - thanks!) - I just ordered Beginning, Evolution, 10/10 and Stomach!! I should have all except 10/10 on Friday! (got 10/10 used for a little cheaper)

OMG I have to go to BED - it's 1:41AM !!

Hummingbird -

1) I can't wait until you start Callanetics - the results are so amazing that
when hearing about it, it would seem to good to be true. Be sure to read the tips on the board about engaging the pelvic floor - it accelerates the results even more. As for the rest of the tips - they can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning so just follow the workout on the DVD's with your PF engaged for now then start incorporating some of the tips - otherwise it almost seems like overkill.

2) Laxative effect - trust me - you don't want it It involves cramping and gas It's from the sugar alcohols in the sugar-free candy but it definitely helps with portion control

3) A Perfect Food bar has 24 carbs so you probably don't want to know about it yet - i'm probably having them too often because they're so good - it's an all natural, whole foods bar with nut butter and pureed veggies but all you can taste is the nut butter

4) I rarely measure when I cook - I just threw things in and tasted as I went...sorry - it was very yummy though

5) i'd like to know what crack cake is too...

6) I'm not as flexible weekdays but on occasion it could work if I had enough notice

7)Thank you - Roger really is a pretty good guy overall - he just has a tendency to stay so busy, get involved with too many projects - grad school, his business, search and rescue,... plus he was moving...things were quite wonderful before school started back in session the middle of Feb...it was bad timing plus he does have a bit too much pride and is quite stubborn...it's all good though...it really wasn't such a good idea for me to be in a relationship after taking 7 years off from dating...it's fun to be out there again though I do miss a lot of things about Roger...this is the last y'all will here me going on and on about him...PROMISE!!

8)I put coconut oil in my Egg Creams so that helps me get my 3-4 TBL in for the day...it does keep me very full...plus I'm a huge proponent of eggs (especially pasture-fed ones) and it's a great way to get 3 or 4 in every day without having to cook them - in case you didn't know - pasture-fed eggs contain almost every nutrient we need except Vit C.
I'm switching to Egg Creams 2 x's a day and one low carb meal.
I'm just waiting for some parts for my Magic Bullet to come in - it was out of commission for awhile - then I can make egg creams at work too.
Did you see the thread for the Egg Cream challenge?

9) Your husband sounds wonderful - I hope to find someone like him one day, does he have a brother?

11) I know what you mean about the wine - I can't completely give it up - I still have it once or twice a week - which means I'm probably losing slower than I would otherwise but it doesn't matter - I refuse to give up my good wine

Hope you're having a good day!

Hello everyone!!!!

Stopping in for a minute to catch up. My schedule should even out a bit better after this last week of training. I probably will have Sun and Mon off so those days work best for me. I can probably swing a Sat evening if I have advance notice and the same for weeknights as well.

Angel and I have been known to love our "crack" cake. I will hunt down the recipe and see if I can post it for you. It is the 3 min choc cake...right Angel?
How are you doing and your hubby? Is he hanging in there?

HB, I would love to be your tenant and move in and be workout partners....wouldnt that be a hoot! J/k of course but if I could I am sure I would love it. I still need to get my supplements and hopefully they work well for us. Good luck on the callanetics. I really need to push myself to get into it. As you can see from my siggy I only did 1 hour. I think I need to delete that....it doesnt look too good!

Angela, did you go on your SF date yet? or is that tomorrow? Details, details....we need details, girl! You are super awesome at Callanetics and I bow down to you!
Well, that is it for now. I will try to stop in tonight and post more later.

Aloha Angela!

1) I start Friday! I don't even know what a Pelvic Floor (PF) is??
I will start with the Callanetics for Beginners + Quick Stomack - then after that, what should I use first? Evolution or 10 in 10? I wasn't sure.

2) Oh! That's funny, someone just told me about that the other day! An East Coast friend told me she's gained some weight (she has a sweet tooth) and I told her about those SF Reeses Pieces y'all mentioned here and she wondered about cramping & gas and I wa like: I have no idea! I will have to warn her! Me, I have enough trouble with the 'ol bowels ever since chemo/surgery/ascites so I will definitely stay away!

3) Perfect Foods bar sounds GREAT but guess I'm not ready yet for 24 Carbs in ONE MEAL!!

4) Wish I was culinary gifted like that! I will have to try it anyway - sounds deelish!

5) hehehe!

6) I think Monday is one of Liz's days off work?

7) I hear ya. But when it's "right" you find ways to make it "work".
Hey you can talk about it anytime, that's what friends are for!

8) I can't find the Egg Creme challenge??
I love organic, cagefree eggs too. I keep a dozen hardboiled in the fridge almost all the time. I had scrambled eggs for lunch today - yum! I am going to have to try an Egg Cream SOON.

9) He IS wonderful! I hope you do too! Hold out for the best, it's worth it! No, he's an only child - ALL my friends wish that he had a zillion brothers!!

10) Our bodies burn the alcohol first and then move on to the fat. So if we don't have too much wine, I don't think it slows us down too much!

Thanks, I am! Hope you're having a good day too!

THANKS for ALL of the GREAT info!! I am so happy to find Callanetics because yesterday I was really frustrated trying to find an exercise that I really LIKED. I used to LOVE The Firm but now that my body is so beat up from all that it's been thru over the past couple years (+ the lymphedema) - it's just too much for me & it's depressing. I must have tried 10 workout DVD's yesterday till I found the gentle Pilates that I really liked (and boy I can sure feel it today!) So I think I'm really going to like Callanetics. You ever heard of T-Tapp?

XO,
HB
