Just skimmed the past day's post and wow, there is a lot of information. I will go back through them later. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. Today's menu:

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and ice tea from McDonalds
Snack: 2 beef sticks
Lunch: Salad with shredded lettuce, tuna, hardboiled eggs and onion
Snack: Celery sticks
Supper: Taking Arby's to my grandma, so I will get a large roast beef and ditch the bun.
Snack: Fried cheese

Have a great day.

Hi ladies... just checking in real quick and then I'm off to get a hair cut and run some errands!

I'm going to have to see how this goes and whether I can really stay off of the diuretics or not... last night I was UP to 348.5 (which had to be water weight because I only ate 1,000 calories yesterday), so that worried me a bit, not just for weight reasons, but because of blood pressure. Anyway, I'm giving it at least one more day without meds and see how it goes.

Anyhoo... other than that, the Fat Fast seems to be going pretty well. I was at a friend's house last night for a game night and stayed on it, depite tons of pizza and beer and feeling pretty hungry later in the evening... and it paid off this morning!

Today's Weight: 344.0 (!)
Today's Menu:
1- cream cheese
2- bacon
3- cream cheese
4- bacon
5- diet root beer with cream
(LOTS of water again!)

Heather,
I take triamterene which is a diuretic for water retention due to my arthritis meds and blood pressure. When I have a lot of water retention, I take aqua ban which is found at your local drug store...or Walmart. I take one in the morning and one in the afternoon for 2-3 days, yet I drink extra water and I have found this to help with the whoosh.....after TOM especially.

Thanks for the advice, Cindy! I'm going to see how I do for the next couple days and then, if I'm still up in water weight, I'll try some of that aqua ban!

Heather, when I went off my diuretic, I did have a weight rebound but my Dr. said it was a normal reaction. It took about 3 weeks for my body to adjust, so hang in there. The aqua ban will help, too. Just keep a close eye on your bp and if you need the diuretics still to control it, I would start taking them again for a while.

Hello, everyone else! Looks like you're all doing great!

Welcome MandEMommie! Been getting some more walking and some yard work done. Down another 1.5 lbs to 245.5 which puts me at a point I can change that avatar again. Woohoo! Gonna do that in a second.

It is amazing how my energy level has changed. I am getting so much more done around the house now. Hoping to get some cleaning and cooking done today. Rainy here right now, so no yard work today.

Last night, I walked so much longer and my ds rode his bike with me. What fun! If the rain stops, we are heading to a local park with his bike --- where he can ride and I can walk and see him at all times. Love it!

Yesterday at work, I wore one of my new 1x shirts. -- Been wearing the baggy 3x shirts....... finally got some folks noticing the weight loss. Guess all the baggy clothes camouflaged it for them. One lady said 'oh my God, what have you done?' She confided that she has been trying to lose weight. We ended up having a great conversation and she is going to read more about low carbing. I am going to let her borrow my Atkins and South Beach books...... but like I told her, you have to be informed about what is 'legal' in this woe ----- but the main thing, is finding what works for you. Fortunately, I have been able to do that without too much struggle. Now I realize that I could hit a stall any time -- and am just praying that when that happens, I will be able to make it through, tweak my woe, and continue on.

Hugs to all! Keep on keeping on!

Oh, a funny moment.... one person at my office actually told me to 'don't lose too much weight. You won't look right skinny.' --OMG!! I am nowhere near skinny and that comment was just hilarious to me!! AND BY THE WAY, I am getting to goal before I start maintenance. lol! Goal is still 100.5 lbs away. --- but to be 60.5 gone is incredible to me. I thank God every day!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Checking in quickly, before I get busy cleaning. Got a great walk in yesterday evening and we are planning on a day spent mostly outdoors playing and walking. Just hoping the pollen does not get to me too badly. Battling the sneezing and watery eyes since yesterday. Any recommendations? Trying to up my H2O intake to help flush everything.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

I just purchased some ketosis checking strips and I came up as 'trace' I was really a bit shocked because I am eating almost no carbs at all - I would say under 10 per day. At this point, I am eating no veggies, less than 1 oz. of cheese per day and then meat... lot's of meat. I have checked all the ingredients prior to consumption and even if there were hiddedn carbs in there, I would still be under 20 carbs a day. How long did it take you to get into ketosis? I have been as strict as I just stated for 5 days now. I have also been working out (doing fast paced cardio) for at least 45 min. per day, every day & drinking at least 64 oz. of water per day. Is there anything else I can do or should be doing? Is this normal and I just need to be patient?

That is probably true about being really carbed up... I do not eat bread or anything containing wheat due to a gluten allergy, but I could not keep my mitts of chocolate to save my life : (

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

I weighed myself this morning, but I am finding it discouraging - even though I am losing. The small numbers lost do not motivate me the way I thought they would when I first decided to do a daily weigh. I think from today on I will weigh in weekly. Even though I *know* the small numbers add up to bigger numbers, I still think seeing a 5 lb. loss once a week would excite me more than a 1.2 or whatever. Do most of you weigh in weekly, daily or more?

Menu for today:

B - eggs and sausage patties
L - Tilapia and crawfish in cajun butter
S - ?
D - Probably the same as lunch because it is so freaking delish!

I weigh myself every week-10 days. Our bodies cannot give a proper daily weight as some foods contribute water retentions, we may need to go to the bathroom, etc. It's impossible to monitor weight daily.

Well, my weekly weigh-in did not go so well....up a pound and that is even after TOM. As far as following my eat six times per day routine, I totally biffed it Saturday and Sunday. My siblings and I finally finished cleaning out my mother's house and the stress and grieving resulted in cheats. It all started Friday night with a Filet O Fish value meal from McDonald's and my choices Sat. & Sun were just as bad.

This morning, I got up early and had a pretty good talk with myself. I did it! I convinced myself that when I am following this program, I feel better about myself, I have more energy and I get so excited as the clothes get looser. I am so fired up to finish April on a great note.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: 5 sausage links, coffee with cream-ok, like 4 cups!
Snack: 3 slices colby cheese, beef stick
Lunch: Leftover Roast with onions and melted provalone, clauseen pickle
Snack: 3 slices colby cheese, beef stick
Dinner: Chef salad, leftover chicken breast

I have 40 oz of water down, it is almost noon and I am going for 100 oz today.

Have a nice week everyone.
Cindy

Congrats on your loss!
I'm all for a cheat free week. As a matter of fact, I'm trying to stay cheat free till my anniversary (May 29)

Glad you joined us Amy! Congrats on losing 9 lbs!

fancyface - Congrats on your great loss & great lab results! ITA that better fitting clothes make a big difference.
I've gotten comments like that too & I'm like, "yeah, 200+ lbs on my 5'2" frame is soooo skinny"

LaRae - Don't look at it as having wasted 4 months. You lost weight & you discovered what does and doesn't work for you - not a waste at all. Much better than spending those 4 months eating your way through bags of chips and candy, and tubs of ice cream.

MandEmommie! You're doing well! Don't get too hung up on the keto sticks - I've heard they're not the most accurate things in the world. As long as you're not hungry all the time, you can be pretty sure you're in ketosis, and as long as you're losing weight and feeling good, you're doing just fine. But you do need to eat some veggies. At least 3 cups/day in Induction.
I like to weigh each morning, but I've been at this for over a year and have come to recognize my body's fluctuation patterns. But it took a while and lots of frustration. Do what works best for you.

nikki! Awesome loss!

Cindy - I know that must have been rough for you and your siblings
You know, we all slip at times. We're human and it happens. The important thing is you're back on track without letting it get too out of hand.
