Looking for a friend
I have lost a total of 176lbs since June 29th of 2006 and have managed to gain back 40lbs over the last few months. Life has been a little hard over the last year but I am ready to get back on track and would love a friend to talk to.

Hi - I've lost 30 last spring, but managed to put 20 lbs on, even while monitoring my food intake with Atkins. So, I'm reapplying myself to get things back where they should be. My longterm goal would be to lose 40 lbs from where I am now.
I think I saw you post in the Callanetics thread - I'm trying 10 in 10 and Evolution starting this week! I'd love a friend to help keep each other going! I've started a weight loss journal - just click my link below if you want to "chat." Last edited by SummerSue : 04-08-2008 at 01:23 PM. |

I am so glad to be able to make friends who understand the locarb WOE. I actually started Atkins in February of 2005 and did well with it until that August when my husbands grandmother passed and we sold our house and moved. It was a very stressful time. I had put on everything I lost and gained it back with interest. Then in June of 2006 I saw my MD and she told me that she saw insulin and high blood pressure medication in my near future and that did it for me. I started Atkins that Monday and stuck to it like glue! My relapse happened in January of this year - my mother passed away and I was experiencing some marital problems. I again returned to my old habits of drowing sorrows in food only to feel worse.
I have decided I need to get back on track and take control again (actually the way I eat is probably the only thing I CAN control in my life right now. Looking forward to getting to know you! ![]() |

Hiya.
I am in a similar boat. I lst a fair amoutn of weight and then had some family issues going on. My mother broke her ankle, which resulted in three surgeries. She was unable to walk until a month ago and is just now back to walking well and driving. I had to care for her, the house and hold down a job. Things got really chaotic and I slipped up some and gained some weight back. I can certainly identify with where you are coming from. I am 42, married, no kids. Always looking for people to share the experiences with.

Nice to meet you! I am 37 and live with my husband of 15 years and 2 kids. My husband has Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and has been out of work since last January...... I work two jobs to try to make ends meet.
There are some trust issues I am currently dealing with but need to be back in control. Thanks for your support! Have a great day! Lily |

Hi Lily
It sounds like you have alot going on. I can certainly see why things can get tough. The important thing is, that you have to take care of yourself, and it is great that you are back on track. I ahve diabetes and just went to the doc yesterday for labs. I've not been taking any medications and have been diet controlled. I'm hoping it wil remain that way after the results of my labs are in. |

Hi again. Well, I've been doing Atkins on and off for 5 years now. I don't even have a major reason why I keep putting it back on, other than I stopped working when my kids were born and I think I lost "me." Plus, we've moved 3 times, so I don't have a constant support system, but that's OK. I think I've found it online! I do get depressed over winter months and that's when it comes back on, so I'm trying to focus on exercise this time as my way of life, since I tend to eat better when I've expended all that energy!
You do seem to have a lot going on, but a wise woman once told me (as her marraige was dissolving) that one of the only things you CAN control in your life is what you put in your mouth! It helped me through some rough patches, because she was right. Things will happen in your life that may make you want to run to food, but you don't "have" to. I think everyone here is very supportive and understands all the issues around this way of eating. BTW, I'm 45 (yikes!) married and have 2 boys.
