Protein intake

Maintainers:
I am struggling a bit right now with finding balance. I have no problems keeping carbs in line (I eat 40-50 gross carbs/ about 90% as veggies). However, there are many days when I have had 200+ grms of protein through eating nuts and fatty cuts of meats (NOT kidding!). BTW, the extra fat isn’t satiating my appetite. I want to reduce my protein portion, because I know it is spurring on cravings for more meat and fat...similar to carb addiction. In addition I feel guilty for “abusing” the LC woe, but I can’t seem to find a good enough reason other than feelings of guilty and lack of balance. Another hindrance to actually taking steps to reduce my protein intake is that I “need” to gain weight, and surprisingly, I have not despite eating excessive amount of calories (about 2000- a lot given I am not that active and I am small). I guess I am looking for answers to the questions below, so I can determine what is reasonable for me.
Do you limit your consumption of protein? If so,how much? What are your reasons?

Do you limit your consumption of fats? If so, how much? What are your reasons?

If you have any other helpful info, please share.
TIA

I eat 70-80 grams of protein per day and no more than 40 grams of carbs. Sounds like you might need the help of a nutritionist to get a good meal plan for yourself.
I do watch my fat intake and keep it usually to about 40 grams a day.

For your protein intake, you could always follow this formula:

your body weight x.4 and your body weight x .6 and stay in between those two numbers.

So if you weigh 90.5 lbs, then you need to eat between 36.2 & 54.3 g of protein.

If you're looking to gain weight, I would say eat more whole foods like veggies, fruits, nuts/seeds, oils & possibly some grains. These foods should balance you out so you will gain weight & not lose more weight.

I hope you find the right balance. Godd luck to you!!

actually Controlledcarb who is a nutritionist posted in the making it a healthy WOE if possible topic that low carbers need more proteins to maintain the body blood glucose supply in a stable range then those formulas for finding protein needs do and a good method to find your low carb protein needs is your body weight divided by 2.2. then use that as your base number and deviate about 10% as your weight dictates.

Since you need to gain weight why not increase your carbs a bit as you lower your protein intake as that would add weight.

Sorry, I've been busy and haven't had time to thank you for your responses and guidance....well actually I did write but lost it .

I recently tried adding more carbs (eating more than 50 grms) after my doctor told me to "try" to gain 5 lbs. The result was *intense* cravings and binges, both physical and emotional (comfort/stress release). After a couple of "close calls", I stopped eating more carbs for fear of fully re-awakening the carb addict and the binge eater in me. I then decided to try to add more calories by eating more protein and fats. I guess I was shocked that I haven't gained any weight, but have cravings--- but for vast quantities of meat and fat. I feel so awful (physically and mentally) when I give into the craving--hense an unbalanced way of eating.

Sorry for rambling, but I know myself (Yes I am stuborn/strong willed and often overthink things ) and know what I need to do restore balance. I know by hearing what others LCers protein intake is how I can "show myself" how unbalance my WOE is and will make changes.

This trying to gain weight thing has thrown me off and resurrected some "bad" eating habits and associations that I had for the most part, successfully removed over the past year.

Thanks again, for letting me ramble and the advice and guidance you have given.
